Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Again, i load MSFS to discover that i dont have live weather. Of course, it is not a drama. Really, some people could say I have no patience: "It has only been a year and a half" since I have been waiting for the real air traffic to work in MSFS, and today, the live weather. When one thing starts to work: Boom! another stops. And when everything has a balance, an update appears that leaves us chaos. I love research and the proliferation of beautiful things like a flight simulator, but I have always preferred that propaganda tell the truth, and not these half-truths. About a year ago, I had a mod that would make the tooltips a lot smaller , and the box was see through, so all you saw was the outline of the box and text inside the box. It also came with a separate mod, that would hide the tooltips all together. I still have the free mod, but after many FS2020 Updates it no longer works. Is there any mod out there that may do somethin similar. Thanks, Bob

After hearing about the PMS50 GTN750 mod I decided to try it out at the base level. As valuable as the WT g1000 mod is for a number of aircraft, it's been a real pain when attempting flight plan modifications, RNAV approaches, etc.. The WT g3000 has been a real gem, and I have been spoiled by its attributes in comparison. I was going to put her in the Bonanza for the first test, but the weather wasn't cooperating for my planned flight from Sitka to Ketchikan, AK (low scud and icing conditions out of Sitka), so I shoe-horned the unit into the Cessna 208b instead. I'm well intro setting up a new Windows 10 machine for flight simulation, and I thought I was choosing to install the many FS2020 'Packages' on my secondary 1TB SSD drive, but instead I chose my 4TB 7200RPM drive. That folder is currently 193GB Machine is an HP OMEN i9-10850K CPU @3.6GHz, with 64GB RAM, Nvidia 3090 with 24GB memory and the drives are: Windows drive 2TB SSD Second SSD for high speed data 2TB SSD 4TB 7200RPM disk drive The MSFS2020 Packages are on the 4TB, I meant to put them on the second SSD. DO I need to fully uninstall and reinstall FS2020 to move them safely or is there an easier and less time consuming way? Thanks

Tried flying KMLB and KBDL this afternoon. The international airports are uncontrolled? Select the airport on approach and I get tune to XXXX traffic.

Has anyone been able to find the location of the user cfg files (logbook, joystick & keyboard assignments, scenery order, etc.)? I'm specifically interested in finding the logbook file to determine whether I can import my past logbook information into it. I've noticed several config files in the Packages' LocalCache folder; but not the ones I'm looking for.

MSFS is good to have as an occupation when the disease is a little milder in the evenings, but right now during the day I can barely read on the forum.

Anyone having trouble installing CS767? I run the installer, pick I bought from MS Store, it says it installs successfully, it is in the communty folder, but it doesnt show up tp select. I am installing with ALL virus protection off too. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dave

Didn't really know what to call the topic. Recently I have been reading in this forum about people who fly long flights having issues after some amount of time where the sim is not responding properly anymore. I myself don't yet fly any long flights as I am still learning how to fly in general. However, last night I opened the sim and pulled up one of the included training sessions. The sim was just idling as I had not yet clicked "Fly". Then I got called to dinner and then I eventually got tired and fell asleep without going back to the sim. Currently doing a Bush Trip. I did the first couple of legs OK but now it's night time? I can't land at the next airstrip because it's unlit. I've tried it in local daylight time but the sim is still in darkness. There appears to be no way of adjusting the time during a bush trip......as it stands this bush trip is un-doable. I've worked out how to reset the trip but how do I stop it happening again? Are there any work arounds that don't destroy the log data? Cheers Gary.

Yesterday I did a search for some Canadian airports on Google, and came across a scenery developer, that I'd not heard of before: SimAddons.com They appear to have developed a huge library of airports in Canada for MSFS (as well as older sims), and from the screenshots available, the quality looks like it ranges from fairly average, to really quite good (with interior detailing on some of the airports). They also appear to have added some season changes for trees (at least in the vicinity of the airports, and animations for things like the de-icer verhicles). I've never seen them advertised on any of the regular news sites, or mentioned in forums etc, so wanted …

I find that I'm experiencing a CTD about every other flight. There doesn't seem to be any common circumstance or situation...sometimes, it happens just prior to loading a flight. Other times, it happens during the course of a flight. I wonder if it might have something to do with a data threshold or something like that but admittedly, I'm grasping at straws. I would appreciate any help.

I recently installed Windows Mixed Reality, OpenXR,SteamVR to support the HP Reverb G2 I purchased. It was a pretty easy process getting it all working. I flew a dozen flights, over about eight hours, all over San Diego to Burbank. The G2 VR world was fantastic and very immersive. I was so pleased! Then uninstalled all the Reshade 4.9.1 stuff I had used in 2D flight sim for the last year.
