What is this - took over screen and cannot kill it
Sitting on ramp cold and dark. I had just updated a control profile and hit save & back - got the screen I expected but on the entire left side was a mystery box with all kinds of performance and usage measures. What app or process is producing the mystery box ? How do I kill it? I could move the cursor but clicking or scrolling with mouse did nothing. ALT + F4 did not kill anything. I had to use task manager to kill FS2024. Win 11 / Beta 2024
- Getting "Back on track you crashed" message for no reason

The second 1.1 GB SU4 update has been released.
win 11 25H2 Sim 1.6.34.0 I am having very poor performance at an airport (any airport) which in the prior sim session (same day) I had excellent performance. For example empty Community folder KBFI (Boeing Field, Seattle) with Asobo Baron G58 cold and dark on a GA medium ramp. Sim starts at 60 FPS (FG and sim locked at 30). If I stay out of cockpit and pan around I see a steady 60FPS. Enter cockpit, turn on systems, start engine, CTRL+Z and pan - the frame rate drops to 1 or 2 and sometimes freezes for 15-seconds. Return to cockpit and frame rate slowly climbs to 60. Move view outside again and poof! back to one or NO FPS. If I let the sim sit for several minutes the frame rate climbs to 60 and stays there. But, as soon as I try to start taxing - FR goes to 1 again. Changing sim settings to LOW - no increase in frame rate. The VRAM usage stays below 95% (~11 GB) and the CPU usage, for each processor, never exceeds 30%. When the frame rates is less than three I find every thread in the sim is in a wait except for Main which is using about 1% of the CPU. Stop sim and restart it, with the exact same scenario as above - FPS never deviates from 60. This happens at many airports and makes SU4 less than enjoyable or even useable. Did not have this problem in the last couple SU 4 Beta updates

The new T-38C is quite an impressive addon!
On Dec 12 I received an email reply from AeroDynamics support that said: "Currently, the manual is being created, but not complete. " Where did you find a bundled manual?

What I don't like about SU4
I am very disappointed in the reliability of SU4! I've not had a single problem and now must cope with flying airplanes rather than dealing with computer issues. I am much better and happier with computer problems than airplane stuff. OH - Woe is me.

Error Code 2047 when launching MSFS2024 with SU4
I can't remember in detail what I did. I tried several of the ZenDesk suggestions and they fixed the problem for a day or so then it would reappear, eventually changing from 1047 to 2047. I know I tried a complete Steam deletion of FS2024 and reinstall. That fixed the problem for a week or so but the next Beta update brought the problem back. Eventually I deleted anything to do with Clouds, Saves, Caches, Indexes in various orders. That helped for a while but then problem reappeared. I reverted back to plain vanilla SU3 after deleting everything. I think that solved the problem am not sure. All I really know is the 2047 error occured after reinstalling SU3. I got word not allowed off and quit the sim, turned off the PC and went off to saulk. When I next started FS 2024 SU3 - no error messages and none since, about three weeks I think.

Error Code 2047 when launching MSFS2024 with SU4
At the official MS Flight Sim web site put 2047 into the search box https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/cloud-save-error-error-code-1047-and-now-2047/738971/131 127 entries since September 9. Many users - many different solutions. Some work for some - some for others. It took me five tries over three weeks to solve the 1047/2047 issue.

Need help understanding folder structure
A: Drive - you brought up a subject I had forgotten all about - when I created the A drive it did not occur to me it might be a problem. Ignorance is Bliss!

Need help understanding folder structure
OH - Never mind! While writing this message I remembered that I had physically moved the original Steam installation to the A:\MicrosoftFlightSimulator2024 but then reinstalled the sim and forgot to tell Steam to use the custom folder. Thus I have the split over two main folders. And, now Steam will not allow me to move the default steamapps folder to the custom folder despite there being 930GB free space on the A drive. The Steam Move Folder option only shows three of my six drives and none of those listed are A:

Need help understanding folder structure
FS2024 SU4 Beta 1.6.31.0 Steam .cfg Installed Packages Path: A:\MicrosoftFlightSimulator2024\Packages Win 11 25H2 I am very confused about the location and structure of my sim folders. I find sim folders split between two primary folders on the same drive. The sim reads the same file from both folders. When I follow the .cfg pointer to A:\MicrosoftFlightSimulator2024 I find the following folders (date is the last modified) Missions Custom CustomFlight 3/22/25 Packages - empty Packages SteamedPackages - 980 files 11/28/25 which is the last time I ran the sim Official2024 Steam Asobo-passive-beech-18 11/17/25 Official2020 - empty Community2024-empty Community - as built by AddpOnLinker Scenery Indexes - 156 files 3/22/25 SimObjects - empty and all the saved .pln files On the same drive I find: A:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common, which contains folders: Limitless Packages fs-base-ai-traffic 5/17/25 fs-base-videos 11/6/25 MSFS2024 cache empty 11/21/25 Minimalcache 996 folders 11/21/25 D3D12 11/6/25 Packages 11/28/55 136 files Publishing Groups 36 files 11/2/25 a bunch of other folders I would expect to see Flightsimulator2024.exe 1.6.31.0 11/28/25 All the necessary .dll files The sim seems to work perfectly but I am puzzled about the folder structure. I do find (using ProcMon64) the sim first reads the A:\MicrosoftFlightSimulator2024\Packages and finds a series of simobject files. The sim then reads the minimalcache folder in A:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common for the same series of simobjects. That dual reading occurs with thousands of sim objects and thousands of other files. Is it "proper" or "normal" for the sim folders to be split between those pointed at by Installed Packages and the Steam Library\steam appsfolders containing the executable and other packages?

FS 2024 SU4 Beta 1.6.21.0 released...
It is so easy to deal with Shift+C, Cloud Save Errors, CTD under strange circumstances - just use the stable version! I have had several problems with various SU Betas. When they get to be too much for me I let Steam run the stable SU3. After a few nice relaxed flights I reload the latest SU Beta and do some problem solving. Having been a software developer and support person I am pretty sure they know about the problems, some self inflicted I am sure, and will get around to fixing them when they have the time and resources and the problem reached the top of the priority list. Our nagging and criticizing their management of a very complex system and eco-system is really not useful. SU3 it solves many problems.

Cloud Save Error - Many reports but no solution?
Win 11 25H2 Steam FS2024 SU3 (1.5.27.0) works perfectly with no errors. SU4 Beta (1.6.16.0 and 1.6.18.0) work very well with the exception of the "Cloud Save Error 2047" which occurs every time I change a setting in the sim. When I start FS2024 I see the message "Synchronizing Cloud" and no error message. Additionally, I cannot Quit Back to Desktop after the error. The sim gets into a loop where all it is doing is a TCP Send and Receive and there is not way to stop it. The error occurs in the World Map at sim startup if I change a setting before doing anything else. It occurs continually in flight if I change a setting. The Cloud Save Error (CSE) has a long and notorious history. I can find references to it in many Steam games going back at least six-years. The Cloud Save Error was discussed at length in the FS2020 section of the Official MS Forums during 2020, 2021, 2022. No resolution of the problem was ever found which solved everyone's problems. This particular occurrence (SU 4 Beta) first appears in the Official Steam Forums on September 19, 2025. Since then; there have been 47 different postings about it on the official site in the SU4 Beta section. It is also found in the Bug Logged section but that is locked with no recommended solution. I had not seen the error prior to 1.6.16.0. Unfortunately for my problem solving, I also upgraded from Win 11 23H2 to 25H2 just prior to 1.6.16.0 being released. I turned off Cloud Synchronization( Steam/Settings/Cloud/Enable Steam Cloud Off ) in the Steam Settings for SU4 Beta. The error still occurs despite what I thought was my complete disabling of Cloud functions Questions: Does turning off Cloud Synchronization disable Cloud Saves in FS2024? Does FS2024 do Cloud Saves even when Cloud Synch is disabled? Does FS2024 require Cloud Synch to be ON? I disabled the SU4 Beta and ran a long sim session in SU3 with no errors and a graceful quit to desktop. I then opted back into the Beta (1.6.18.0) and watched Steam download a big update. But, same results - any setting change results in the 2047 Cloud Save error. I've tried every suggestion found at the Zen Desk and in all the various posts I find about this problem. - turn off Cloud Synch, log out of XBOX, restart XBOX, lock back into Steam At this point I find nothing in the official site that offers a solution. Does anyone have a suggestion? Microsoft seems to be ignoring the problem based on the number of recent posts and locking the bug report.

[Freeware] Ramona, CA (KRNM) released
I really appreciate the great work you've done on Ramona and all the others. We did a lot of bicycle riding (dirt and road) all on the roads and trails around the Santa Maria valley. It is so special flying low and slow over the airport and all the places we know so well. We spent a lot of time in Ramona and almost bought two different houses overlooking the airport. Big Thank You

VR is perfect in 2020 but only see all gray screen in 2024
TacomaSailor replied to TacomaSailor's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)two days later in FS2024 SU3 no beta- made the permanent move to Oasis VR driver for WMR devices. VR in FS 2020 is spectacular at 40 FPS with great clarity and smoothness. Assetto Corsa works perfectly. The Steam VR tutorial works perfectly. I am now at the point that trying to run FS2024, even in 2D mode, does not work IF I have loaded the Oasis driver and started Steam VR. If I start FS2024 with no VR stuff loaded - I am standing outside the aircraft in 2' 45" with dozens of addons and detailed airports. When I start VR Steam and then start FS2024 I am at the Main Menu in 2' 10". I then select Free Flight with a default Asobo aircraft and airport and have an empty Community Folder. The sim starts to load the scenery and makes it's first move to lower the visual altitude as if it were going to show the departure airport. But, at that point the rotating arrow in the lower right corner slows down to one revolution every minute or so. After 10-minutes the sim is still loading. The G2 goggles show me the VR home with a big black, blank desktop. I can move around the room but cannot select anything because the desktop is solid black. While the sim is slowly loading it's CPU usage is less than 1% while the entire CPU usage s less than 10%. The sim does no disk reads and very few network ops. However - three Steam VR processes are running: VRcompositor, VRTour, and VRSteam. They each are using about 3% of the CPU and doing very few IO ops. I have deleted and reinstalled all the Steam components. How do I make VR work in FS2024 with HP Reverb G2 goggles?
