Today is my birthday, so throughout life I have been acutely aware of the days left from the twenty-first to Christmas. Always felt slighted on my birthday. This year is no exception! Why? All we have seen is a trickle of new offerings for MSFS, and no Christmas season releases from A2A, Milviz, or even Carenado. I was so hoping that creators of high quality aircraft models, especially GA models, were holding off, planning to time releases to take advantage of the season and its spirit. I don’t think I’ve seen it posted here, but ORBX has released a fun little Christmas addon for free, a flyable Santa sleigh with 8 reindeer that you can fly anywhere you want. It also included some Christmas scenery at a few Australian airports. Maybe not for everyone but my daughter and I had a blast last night flying around our home city with Santa, though I wasn’t able to successfully land on my roof 🙂. Santa must have some pilot magic that I don’t have. Available free at ORBX Direct.

Dev work on the Scenery Gateway has started. Those excellent freeware addons may be included automatically in updates. The Gateway is scheduled to go live sometime next year.

On 12/20/21, I purchased the Carenado C170B and the Asobo JU-52. These both seemed to download OK but when restart did not appear in may Aircraft list/hangar., even after restarting. I am using Steam version of MSFS I deleted through Content Manager and re-downloaded/installed them both. They appear in Content Manager as “installed” but do not show in my aircraft selection screen. It may be of note that I owned both of these aircraft in a previous non-steam installation of the sim. I am trying to rebuild my content after a catastrophic crash of the sim, that I could not resolve, even after hours on phone and online with support teams from X-Box and Windows staff. …

Toncontín, the famed tough approach airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras has shut down and is being replaced by a new airport. It is nicely represented in MSFS but now we need the new one. I wonder who will do that scenery? Anyway, the Captain of the last departing AA flight bid a nice farewell to the airport. It's in Spanish, but you get the gist. I would like to install and use the latest and greatest MSFS, but cannot sensibly download 100+ Gb on a 6Mb/s (700Kbytes/sec) internet connection. The complete programme is apparently available on 10 double layer DVD's from various sources. Reading some posts on this forum, it would seem that one needs an XBOX account to activate the simulator - is this a once off event or is it needed every time the simulator is started? If the latter then there would appear to be an ongoing monthly cost to keep this acccount live - a real killer unless I have misinterpreted the information!! As the title says…before the update, everything was smooth as silk, getting 32-35 FPS on the ground, 37-42 in the air, and was really smooth 95% of the time. Now I’m getting 15-22 FPS on the ground and it’s a slideshow. In the air I get back to high 30’s, low 40’s and I’m very happy with it. On the ground, I want to throw up. This symptom seems more prevalent in the US, but I get slowdowns in Europe on the ground as well to a lesser degree. I’m hopeful the beta hot fix is addressing this. I have changed nothing in my setup since before SU7 was released. Any suggestions?

I've just purchased this add-on but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. So far I have yet to find "animated" animals. I've found groups of elephants but they don't show any movements. Do I miss a setting or did I expect too much?

Hi - In search of suggestions with a new problem encountered today with MSFS2020. I've had the sim since August'21 and have not encountered any major issues until today. This morning I did a flight which went perfectly. This afternoon, the sim won't load. I've been troubleshooting and searching forums for suggestions, but nothing has helped yet. The sim gets stuck on screen that says New Activities at top while loading. The blue bar at bottoms completes progress, but program never proceeds to next page. I've let it run for 30 minutes, and it stays stuck on the New Activities page. Graphics card (RTX3070) and Windows 10 are updated. I'm signed into Xbox account. USB device…

Hi all. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why, when I activate RESET COCKPIT CAMERA VIEW, it goes to some weird up position. I checked in general/camera settings and the parameters are all set to 50. Any ideas what has gone wrong? Thanks.

After six months absence, thought I would fire up MSFS again - ha! Microsoft Download Simulator with a 110Gb "mandatory" update before I can even get in the menu. Nothing changed there. Looking round the boards etc. seems still no closer to getting any classic jetliners in there, DC10, 727, Tristar etc. Was also wondering if Asobo has ever fixed the save/reload flight bugs which pretty much killed any attempt at long haul, such as the FMC losing your flight plan. Bottom line is it really worth bothering to update or have things not moved forward that much since I was last here?

Just picked up a Corsair HS60 haptic headset, as my old headset headphone jack started failing. Ive paired this new one with dolby atmos. WOW! I never even knew haptic on a headset was a thing, but this is actually really good! Well worth it if anyone is looking for a new headset.

Just downloaded AIG Manager and was in the portion of the process where I need to download flightplans. However I keep running into an issue where the install will completely freeze. I've tried to install ~5 airlines and only 2 so far have install successfully and show up in the "Installed" Tab. The rest (Southwest, Delta, and American airlines) get stuck at seemingly random times. For example, right now I'm trying to download Delta and it's stuck on "Checking Model FOr:AIGAIMDelta Air Lines Boeing 737-800WL [35/38]." It's been on the screen for a solid 30mins, and I'm not sure where the issue stems since other airlines like Air Asia and Delta Connection downloaded …

I've always been fascinated by the MSFS 5.0 Dox box art cover since I was a child. If anyone knows what airport this is I would like to recreate this approach in MSFS 2020. it might possibly be a fictional airport for the art cover.

Another thread here reminded me of a program called Voice Attack that I used in P3D and found that it worked well. Voice Attack has a free trial version that is limited to 1 profile with 20 voice commands, but otherwise is fully functional. And the full blown version only cost $10.00. Normally I would buy this in a heartbeat, but I already have the beautiful and wonderful fly Tampa scenery which is absolutely wonderful, and this one looks subpar to that. maybe someone who buys this could compare to flytampa? Looks like it’s out for xplane too.

I have no commercial traffic at any of the gates at KPIT. This is the only airport in which this happens for me. All other airports that I have tried starting from are full of commercial aircraft. I have many USA carriers but they do not load into any of the gates at KPIT. However if during start up an select a aircraft such as the flybywire A320NX it does show up at the gate. How strange. Could someone please trying starting/loading from KPIT and report if you see any aircraft. Thanks, Jim

I load my flight plan on flight planning screen. Everything starts out okay, then I see a way point called MANSEQ. When it gets there, my magenta line goes away along with the rest of my flight plan. What is MANSEQ and how can I correct this? Flying with G1000NXi. Thanks, Roy
