Everything is going too great.. And 5 min before I begin my descent for approach MSFS starts getting really crappy frame rates. And a couple min later boom, im looking at my desktop. How prevalent have CTD been for you guys on MSFS?

  2. ...a scenario where you have lots of CPU/GPU/VRAM/RAM headroom, are maintaining your locked frame rate of 30, yet get a frequent microstutter. What's interesting is if I Alt-Enter to go to Windowed mode it stops and it's back to liquid smooth. I don't normally see this behavior but have before, and did again just now, on approach to KSHR. Server access is what is always is, around 44ms, 300mbps bandwidth. If you've seen it and have a solution post it please

I have seen a couple of 3rd party runway/taxiway graphics packages out there. What's your opinion on what looks best. Thanks. Duane

I found a very beautifull area for a trip. It's the Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael. Take off at SCRF (Argentina) and enjoy, if you want 🙂

Anyone else experiencing trouble with live weather in the beta? It worked fine 24 hours ago. Now, no weather at any location. Even REX Weather Force failed to inject live weather. Not sure what caused it.

With the new dev option to have a separate steering tiller in the FBW, how do I set it so I can use my twist axis on my stick as the steering tiller? I don't see any options within the control settings for a steering tiller. Thanks!

Did anyone here upgraded from 55 inches to 65 inches, both 4k? I'd really like to have a larger display, right now I have a Samsung 55 inches, 4k. It's not bad at all but the bigger, the better. 55 inches 4k = 80 ppi 65 inches 4k = 67 ppi Is there a huge difference between the two? I mean the image quality ( larger pixels on the 65 inches ) I don't really care about websites, fonts, etc Any advices are welcome, thank you

So I am running MSFS on a very low end machine that doesn't even meet the minimum specs and somehow getting around 25FPS on medium settings over densely populated areas like LA. I want to get a few of the addon airports from Orbx, and I was wondering how much they affect FPS. So do you think I could get some of these airport or will they impact my FPS too much? Thanks

Since nose wheel steering is typically controlled by the rudder pedals, I thought adjusting the rudder sensitivity curve in MSFS might also adjust the nose wheel steering, but that does not seem to be how it works on my system. Does that seem correct? Thx, Al

As the year 2021 ends, the year 2022 will be rich in output. A new project has emerged to bring joy to many jet fighter enthusiasts of the Soviet era: the legendary MiG-21 will soon arrive on Microsoft Flight Simulator. GKS the developer, promises to publish a very detailed MiG-21Bis model with authentic flight dynamics, based on a military training simulator. In addition, the package will come with a realistic autopilot system and even a drag chute. This project will be the result of two years of development and will be available in two versions: Standard and Extended. The plan is to launch the aircraft in early 2022. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acHhXIZHUVU …

  12. Hi. I was watching Fabio's stream today, and the conversation came up about how will PMDG planes sell on X-Box versus PC (assuming the issue that caused the DC-6 to be yanked from X-Box marketplace is resolved in the future). Fabio made an interesting observation that if there are that many more X-Box users of MSFS than PC users of MSFS, then because of the sheer X-Box user numbers, PMDG may sell more planes on the X-Box than PC, even though PC has the more "hard core" flight simmers (ie. I would say many of the people that frequent Avsim are the more "hard core" flight simmers). You can watch the conversation brought up by Fabio here. Some person in Fabio's chat even c…

Is an user interface utility to change a hundred things or more in the Windows registry from a handy UI instead. Like disable Windows update, automatic restore point saving daily, removing all power throttling of all applications, xmouse (hovering the mouse over a window puts that window into focus, so for instance the scroll wheel affects only the window your curser is over). And to change the windows system, message, or menu fonts, (make them all larger or smaller or in bolder black). Or change the desktop icon label fonts and size. For any item in the UI, there is a link to their online FAQ to describing what exactly is being changed and where the regist…

  20. Earlier this year I inadvertently set out on a Tour De Med (NeoFly tracking pic below, 62 Legs in all from February to December 2021), flying clockwise from Spain mainly in the XCub before finishing up in the Caravan from Egypt onwards. I used Hard Landing Strips for the vast majority of my landings, especially with the Caravan. Now with Australia the number of hard strips is extremely limited in some more rural areas, also with some massive Legs involved in between which, with time constraints, may not be possible. So I'm tempted to revert back to the XCub so that smaller airstrips and even Bush Landings are more readily available, the latter could prove more useful in t…

  21. Well, the Navigraph 2021 survey results are out. And not surprisingly, MSFS grew market share among Navigraph survey takers. You can download the full results of the Navigraph survey here. The most interesting part is the graphs on page 58 and page 59, which shows the difference between this year and last year's survey. This year's survey: Last year's survey: As you can see, MSFS market share grew among Navigraph survey takers, probably taking market share from P3D. Mind you, I think Navigraph survey takers are the most "hard core" of flight simmers. So the "hard core" flight sim market is giving a thumbs up to MSFS over the last year. I…

I usually create my flight plans with SID, STARS, transitions and arrivals, almost all with altitude restraints. I love the VNAV capabilities of the Nxi .Then, the flightplan goes imported into FS, but G1000NXI recognizes every single fix except for altitudes. Is there a workaround for that or is it just a matter or entering the route via G1000 only?

  23. I tried Navigraph for a month but I stopped the subscription. Now I uninstalled the app but I see the database is still in the Community folder... I read that you shouldn't remove it manually because then MSFS won't have a database to work with at all (because Navigrapg edits certain files). I reinstalled the Navigraph app but I can't use it because I don't have a running subscription anymore...! Two questions: 1. how can I check which database is being used? 2. can I remove the Navigraph database manually from the community folder yes or no? EDIT Never mind. I copied the Navigraph folders to another location, started the sim and all seems fine.
