Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I'm slowly working my way through this tool and have run into questions: Can someone explain how presets work and the right way to install them? Also, the same for Dependencies. I have read on the web until I'm almost blind, and I have gone through and downloaded "Managing addons in MSFS Addons Linker", but I guess I'm not smart enough to figure this part out. Any help would be appreciated. Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Hi, Is there any way to get GSX to use the correct jetway? Here at KBOS (FlyTampa) it's using the A380 upper jetway to dock with a 787? https://imgur.com/7DTCVRY In P3D I could specify which jetway AND which door to dock with. Ben

I am in the process of downloading the Premium Deluxe version from steam. The base file which is "*.040" appears to be holding up the works. If I stop the process then restart, would that help? Thanks. Edit: I did stop the process. Restarted from "fs-base-cgl-0.1.75.fspackage.040". Under firefox, it is working on the "fs-base-cgl-0.1.75.fspackage.040.part" file. Something must be corrupted somewhere because this file is not being written to, but the installation process is showing that is downloading? Please disregard. The process is evidently writing the data somewhere because it finally moved on.

Does anybody have any idea when will it be released? I've been waiting for both turbine and piston variants for so long, my favorite one's back in the days of RealAir, hopefully before christmas.

Hi guys, I know this topic created a lot of debate on a previous flight sim, pre MSFS 2020. In MSFS 2020 what are the best default zoom/height settings in the cockpit camera. I fly mainly single/twin GA aircraft.

Since few days I encountered a new issue : at the end of a flight, when I click to return back to main screen, the sim stucks during the process. The green bar at the bottom slowly increase toward right side, then it stops and the only way to exit the program is from Task Manager. Obviously, when I restart FS it shows the initial message " start in normal mode or safe mode ? " No recently upgrades or installs.... Maurizio

Just a brief question i guess for those who are 320 pilots IRL... i use TV speakers when flying so no headphones... when flying can you hear each other talk without a headset or are the noises so loud that you can only communicate with a mic? Just not sure what realistic in my set up... Cheers

I have noticed an issue with external Lights. When in external camera or drone the lights are almost a perfect square. Oddly enough, its only my Aircraft. Other Aircraft (FSLTL, Asobo, FS Traffic...) have natural round or roundish locking lights. When i am at gate at any airport i really like to fly the drone up to get a good overview of the airport, especially when flying online. It really bothers me that i can always spot my plane immediately because of the ugly box lights. Can someone explain this or is there fix for this?

I know this has been asked by many people. Yes, the Hollywood sign is in MSFS, though it doesn't stick out as much as in earlier versions. To find it, fly to downtown LA, then head about 320 degrees. It is on a cliff, with an observatory (or whatever it is) overlooking it.

Any thoughts on the Carenado PC12? The review rating is 3.5 stars on the Marketplace. Is it possible to read the reviews, when I click on it, it gives me a chart of the ratings, but no way to access the reviews? Thanks!

Since a few hours ago I don't get any flying or taxiing aircraft anymore. Just parked planes at airports. Did anyone else notice this too?

Some clever person out there must have found out why traffic in MSFS disappears so close to the camera. If I place myself at an international airport while using PSXT, the airport is full of live traffic. However, the traffic disappears shortly after takeoff with only the aircraft lights being visible. XP12 is very different in this regard. Using PSXT with that sim the traffic can be seen miles and miles away. When flying in XP12 the sky is full of visible traffic. In MSFS the traffic can be seen in the Garmin Pilot display, but none of it is visible in MSFS unless it’s very close.

Hi all, Hope I'm posting into the right section of the forum. After a long while and after having seen MSFS 2020 videos I decided to fly again. However, since I've sold all my old devices, now, I need to build a system from scratch. The main reason that I gave up flying was the stucking / freezing / seizing of the SIM. (in FSX as well as Prepar3D). Even though I have tried each and every tweak, add-ons, etc, etc... I could only finished 10% of my flights without problems. I recently have read that MaccoSim has access to the real airport and is going to upgrade the scenery accordingly. Will this update be free for customers who have the current version? I ask because they have it on sale. If the update cost something, I would wait for it. If it's going to be free, I will buy this version on sale. Anyone has any info?

Setting up the controls in MSFS feels like an exercise in frustration. It seems that AutoRudder works fine, but only at very low speeds. Anything past a certain point (which is rather difficult to determine), and it feels like the nosewheel is locked. The brakes also seem to have a slight "lag" (in other words, they do not seem to react instantly to my controller input). The end result is a very unsteady and unpredictable movement of the aircraft (I am currently experimenting with the Diamond DA62), but maybe I just need time to get used to it? I guess the joystick calibration also has to be done outside the simulator?

I recently upgraded to Windows 11 but knew my PC was carrying a bit of bloat and fancied a proper clear out. To that end, I performed a Windows reset but chose the option to remove all user files and settings, essentially like doing a clean install. My MSFS community was on a separate drive but I didn't realise that would also get wiped as part of the reset. So now with a fresh Windows 11 containing no 3rd party apps/tools, I needed to reinstall MSFS and add back in all the World updates via Content Manager. 2x 43” 4K Front view / Left view = 2x 55” 4K 1x 55” 4K Left view = 1x 65” 4K Again Sony Bravia TV’s. Still working on perfecting the syncing of the views. After that the brightness/ contrast / colors will be adjusted so all views look a like.

Looking on the FBW site to see if there is a list of any keyboard input that can be used to activate buttons and other functions. Trying to do APU fire test. So hitting button but would like to see AP Master light come on and ECAMS warning messages but cant scroll down

Sim was working great yesterday and flights loaded per usual in less than one minute. Since last night, I cannot load a flight from Fly Now button. It just hangs. I even removed everything from Community to vanilla and still hangs. Not using Beta. Anyone know solution?
