Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have completed a couple full flights in the latest SU14 Beta patch and the Fenix A320, and on both occasions while trying to fetch departure, arrival and alternate METAR and TAF from the AOC menu when I hit the received messages the MCDU returns to the AOC requests screen? The METARs are available in MFS Weather (Real World) and also when using the EFB in the Fenix 320 for takeoff and landing performance calculations. It is only not available throught the MCDU / ATSU-AOC weather requests. Is this a known problem? In P3dv5.4 with the FSLabs airbuses I can circumvent this situation by setting the weather source to ASP3D, and that works, because there too the MET…

Question for all you Fenix flyers. What setting do you have turbulence set to? I have mine on low but flying through areas where there should be turbulence felt completely smooth. I'm guessing this is a MSFS limitation but do you all have any different turbulence setting that makes it "feel" a bit more realistic? Same with landing... There have been landings where I felt like I put it down perfectly but looked at my landing rate and it was firm. With that being said, I used to use FSrealistic but took it off because i felt it made the sim stutter. Has this improved at all? I don't know what's going on with FS2020 lately, but I've had 2 inflight structural failures in the last 3 days for no apparent reason. Both flights (one in Norway and the other in New Zealand airspace) were in the modded 208B. I was operating within safe airspeed and preparing in both cases for descent for approach (I had not begun descent yet). The Norway flight had moderate turbulence and the NZ flight (just a few minutes ago) was in calm air. In both instances there was a "boom", then a black screen followed by a message along the lines of "you have over-stressed the aircraft and it has been destroyed". What in the world....

I recently heard that you can now turning icing on in the Fenix and it works well.. However, I have flown in icing conditions recently and do not see the icing on the plane. Did something change in the sim where icing effects aren't visible anymore?

Hi guys, Decided I want to take my simming to the next level. In sim I fly exclusively single/twin GA up to PC12 TBM 850 and the Cessna twins. I would now like to use one in sim for charts etc I do not own a tablet so looking for advice on 2 pointers. 1) What is the best tablet/memory size available...I would assume I do not need the latest iPad 2) Which is best for simming Navigraph or foreflight. I am not a real world pilot but do like to make my simming as close as possible. Thank you

I have ran into a little problem today wanting to make some changes using the data display showing across the top of the screen horizontal. Wanted to change airplanes [in the air], use fps etc. but all of the data disappeared. This happened before, but it came back somehow, which I have forgotten how I did it. Unfortunately things like this happens sometime to some of us that slipped into the 80’s Any help will be appreciated on how to get the various data back so I can make changes and even transport sometimes to other airports.

As it seems to have gone quiet on the subject, I thought I would ask the beta testers out there what has improved and what may not have improved or indeed declined in the latest beta. Since some including me started to hijack the APL2 and Fenix thread I thought it may make sense to start an own topic on Newsky. I am no VA pilot (yet) but only learned about and tried Newsky just for assigning/booking flights and then track them to get my rating. nothing special but gives me a bit more "meaning" when zipping around, primarily in one of the many A320. Tried Volanta before which kept track of my flights but gave no rating, at least not in the free version. APL2 seems "too much" for me and my needs, tracking flights, not allowing too many errors. Newsky better fits my casual needs, not tracking if and when I started the APU, served meals or turned the seatb…

I would like to show off to my friends what MSFS is capable of and would like some suggestions on a short but very scenic route to demonstrate the Fenix A320 in. Can you guys recommend a good route that will show off the beauty of the entire route from departure to parking at the gate?

Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with MSFS that I do not experience with P3D. PMDG 738, Navigraph güncel ( AIRAC v.2312 ) I patiently tested it at all airports. The monitor does not show ILS frequency data in the VOR1 section. (I do not use HGS). The aircraft captures the ILS frequency and makes a smooth approach. I couldn't find a solution to this in other forums. What am I missing? Or something has changed, I don't know? I used to use GSX with Fenix but ended up removing GSX from my PC. I felt it took too long and required me to do non related things that a pilot would have to do. I saw something called Fenix2GSX and was wondering how that differs from plain GSX. I also didn't like the fact that GSX had people walking in the air and on the tarmac and it required me to download a bunch of files to try and fix that while it didn't always do the trick. What is everyone's experience with Fenix2GSX?

Hi guys, back in the old days there was a program called active camera. It allowed you to 'park' a camera [like a drone] somewhere at the airport and watch airline movements on the ground. it would let you set a radius that the camera would stay in and the camera followed ai planes as they moved by the camera. But it would then follow another plane automatically when it moved into the radius. I spent countless hours just watching arrival after arrival and it felt like I was at the airport in person. I saw a few videos that showed how to follow one ai plane, but it would not switch to the next plane which is close but not exactly what I am looking for. It's also not easy t…

I've noticed that turning on the TBM 850 autopilot does not also automatically turn on the FD -- you have to manually turn on the FD. Even if you turn on the AP, and then turn on an AP mode such as HDG or NAV, the FD does not automatically turn on. This seems unusual to me. However, if the AP is off and you turn on an AP mode, such as HDG or NAV, the FD does turn on automatically, I suppose to provide you the necessary guidance since you, and not the AP, are flying the plane. Is this how you are seeing the FD works? Al

I'm trying to get my autopilot disconnect button on my Honeycombe Alpha XPC to function as it's meant to in this aircraft but am unsure what the correct assignement for it is in the sim. In the manual it states: So, one push should disconnect the autopilot and another get rid of the flight director but what is the actual assignment in MSFS? I can assign my big red off button to any number of assignments to disconnect or even toggle the autopilot on and off with this button but I can't get it to trigger the FD on the second press. I assume Black Square have a specific assignment that is linked that I'm anaware of?

Can someone tell me whether Alaska was given the WU treatment for terrain and objects? TIA

Here's a great side by side comparisons of the two sims. The uploader took the time to go to the same locations in 2020 to match the up with the ones seen in the 2024 trailer. They weren't able to do the whole trailer but the effort is definitely appreciated. You can really see a massive graphical uplift in some of the shots with 2024's machine learning tech doing its thing. ***Now please note that this is a graphical comparison so it is pointless getting into the "what about physics???" talk. MS and Asobo have had plenty to say about that and remember that improvements in one area does not automatically make the other suffer. Let's stay on topic 🙂

I'm having a problem capturing the ILS. I am doing an ILS approach without the PMS50-GTN750 GPS, I am flying in HDG + HSI LOC 1 heading on the ILS, APPR armed, ALT FAP. When I arrive on the axis via a 45° route, the TBM 850 captures the LOC then the G/S without problem. I am flying in GPS mode with Airport+waypointS+Airport flight plan with the PMS50-GTN750 GPS. When I arrive on the last leg I switch to HDG to join the IF of the ILS approach (I do not use the approach function of the GTN 750). To do this I leave GPS mode for LOC 1 mode, I enter the ILS frequency on the GTN 750 and engage it (green frequency), I align the HSI LOC 1 heading on the ILS, APPR arme…

Hi Kids... I was starting MSFS last night and it started downloading a mandatory World Update. The download took a long time, then it started started decompressing files. The decompression ran a longer time and I thought it may have frozen. I gave up, and let it run overnight In the morning there was no change. I had to use task Manager to shut it down. Now when I try to start I get the option to proceed in safe mode or normally. Either way, t begins to load, but freezes at "New Activities." I can only exit through task manager... My guess is the update was corrupted... I have no idea how to proceed. Any suggestions... Thanks

I looking at Orbx and a ton of reduced rate, but one airport I like it apparently not very good - KBUR v2. So, before the sales end, what airports are worth the price? I'm looking at EIDW v2 (soft spot since I flew there in 2022), but overall I am looking for scenery that isn't bad on performance or shoddy in appearance. I mainly fly US, Europe, Canada. Thank you!

Just a potential warning to others. I was previousy in the beta but after getting a new PC and reinstalling MSFS, I stayed out of it for the last week. With the release of the new SR22 I just entered the beta again via the Insider app. All seemed to go well. Started MSFS and got an update notification for a 2GB update. Screen went black part way through this - now whenever I launch MSFS, all I get is an immediate black screen. Tried a dozen times. HELP! Anyone know hot to resolve this black screen? I deleted my cloud saves but it hasn't helped. My Community folder was emptied before the update and remains emptied. Absolutely gutted!

Up until today both the Blk Sqr Kingair and TBM have been working wonderfully. However today I noticed that both planes' propeller animations have stopped working as they should. Instead of the propellers gradually spooling up as they have always, they go from stopped to on and visa a versa when shutting down. If anyone has experienced this and or has a possible explanation and fix that would be much appreciated.

Purchased the TBN850, and avionics were not turning on. Re started MSFS 2020 and the avionics had powered up. Now all of a suddenly my avionics are not Turning on again in the TBN850. Redownloaded the TDS GTN750xi from TDS but that didn't fix the issue. At a loss right now. Any ideas what I can check? Thank You Walt
