Looks Like I'll Return to 2020
Thanks everyone for your input and advice, as always, it is very much appreciated. It does seem that I may be experiencing that initial panic that often sets in immediately after an installation. It is a little heartwarming to hear so many of you are in full support on 24. I will persevere and follow some of the advice I have read here and see how I get on. Thanks again to all who have taken the time to reply, appreciated.

Looks Like I'll Return to 2020
Hi Noel, I have done this apart from the Nvidia App, which I use for the filters and disk cleanup. I'll follow your suggestion. Cheers.

Hmm, and my experience has all been with default, apart from the PMDG.

Looks Like I'll Return to 2020
Well, I did the dirty deed at the weekend and Installed Win 11 and MSFS 2024. So for the past three days I've spent reinstalling dozens of apps and addons, still loads more to install! As I literally, wanted a full, clean install. Yesterday I started a quick flight in the PMDG 738, all with default scenery, from Rio De Janeiro. To say I was aghast and disappointed would be an understatement. Yes, the UI has improved in some areas, things seem to be more logically set out, it seems very much smoother, but, what's all this about... when I jump from an external view back into the cockpit, everything is blurry for a second while it loads! Darn awful, ridiculous. But the big issue was the terrain, not just blurry, but unacceptably blurry. I read much about this issue over the past weeks but was convinced it was people's rigs. Wow, with my pretty high end system, I certainly did not expect the kind of issues that I've experienced. The other thing was the clouds, they looked second rate compared to 2020. Also, unless it was my imagination, and this is difficult to describe, but everything looked less 'real' and more 'cartoony.' These were just my initial reactions, even after having trees, grass, rocks, buildings set to ultra or high. I am very unhappy, as I wanted to make this sim work. Today I will follow some further advice on settings, but if things don't change, then I will return to 2020. Could it be finger trouble at my end? Are there some specific settings I need to know about that affect this? I'd be interested in any suggestions or ideas from anyone who may have some advice or opinions.

What's With Simbrief & 738 in 2024?

What's With Simbrief & 738 in 2024?
Sure, I'll tell you the reason why I don't use it. I have a cockpit with relvent hardware and instruments and can undergo a flight without having to touch the mouse. So, having the FP easily downloaded into the FMC means I don't need to access the EFB in the VC with mouse clicks. The less use of a mouse when I'm flying, the more immersive the flight feels to me. I hope that makes sense. Perhaps on your recommendation, I may try it out.

Thanks for this matey. It works! As I thought, finger trouble! With such a long address, I ended up with it being incorrect. All good. Cheers.

I like doing it that way.

What's With Simbrief & 738 in 2024?
I have recently done a full install of Win11 and also MSFS2024. I must have been mad! Anyway, I'm now in the long, arduous process of reinstalling all my apps and addons. I have just installed Simbrief and Simbrief downloader. I install from the Simbrief downloader directly into the FMC, as I don't use the PMDG EFB in the cockpit. I have done this flawlessly for years now and it has always worked like a charm. However, I don't know whether it's finger trouble at my end, or the fact that 24 has different protocols with the PMDG 738, but for some reason, when I go to install a flightplan automatically into the FMC when in the route page, nothing shows up. Normally, I'd put in the departure and destination airports, and then it was just a matter of clicking the relevent LSK and the flightplan which would auitomatically configure itself with all the waypoints and data etc. I believe I have entered the correct location of the relevent flightplan file in the PMDG folder in the Simbrief downloader, but as I say, it's not happening. Am I pointing the flightplan to the right folder? If anyone can offer some advice I'd be grateful.

Beyond ATC is just not there yet
I experience this on most flights. It's got boring.

PMDG 737 WASM crash: can be reproduced
I never used to experience these crashes(?) in my case freezes, but I have encountered at least half a dozen in the past twelve months. Not sure why only in the past twelve months They have all happened when I have tried to edit the FP in the FMC in the PMDG 738. Extremely frustrating when you've spent all that time planning and executing the flight and it happens when inputting the approach. Once again this has been a Simbrief FP that has been used, so that seems to be a common thread in many peoples' issues.

Ugrading GPU
If you know the history, I would highly recommend considering a used card. I bought my mate's 4090 for £900! Only a year old. Brilliant buy!

Flight Simulation Is Becoming Too Expensive ?
Like any hobby, it's as expensive as you want to make it. Being 'expensive' is purely subjective.
