VR Help
Hi all, I’m looking for some guidance from anyone running a similar VR setup with MSFS. System / Hardware CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT RAM: 32GB Headset: Meta Quest 3 Connection: USB Link cable (wired) MSFS version: Microsoft Flight Simulator (Steam) Using prescription lens inserts (mild astigmatism) Current Status Successfully connected Quest 3 via wired Link (much smoother than Air Link) Able to launch MSFS in VR and enter cockpit (Ctrl + Tab) VR is working end-to-end, but I’m trying to refine the experience Issues Observed Shimmer / “heat wave” effect Distant objects and edges appear slightly wavy or unstable Similar to anti-aliasing artifacts from older sims Present even when my head is relatively still Jitter / instability Not severe stutter, but subtle instability in the image More noticeable when looking at distant scenery or cockpit edges Initial eye misalignment (occasionally) First entering VR sometimes feels slightly off between eyes Usually corrected by toggling VR or recentering Clarity Not as sharp as expected in cockpit text/instruments Improved slightly after settling into VR, but still not ideal. What I’ve Tried Switched from Air Link → wired Link (major improvement) Ensured using USB 3.0 port Following AMD guidance: Disabled all Adrenalin features: Anti-Lag Chill Boost Frame Generation Image Sharpening Enhanced Sync Planning to test other VR apps to isolate whether this is MSFS-specific Questions… Are these shimmer/jitter artifacts typical with MSFS VR on AMD GPUs? Any recommended MSFS VR graphics settings for 7900 XT + Quest 3? Best settings for: Render scale TAA vs DLSS/FSR OpenXR configuration (if applicable) Any known AMD-specific tweaks for VR stability? Could headset fit / lens inserts / astigmatism contribute to perceived shimmer, or is this almost always rendering-related? Goal Trying to get: smoother image (less shimmer/jitter) improved cockpit clarity stable VR experience for longer flights Any tips or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

New Graphic Card For MSFS 2024
I did a ChatGPT and it returned with issues with this card in MSFS 2024. If you're encountering issues with the XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XT 20GB GDDR6 in Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), there are several things you can check to resolve the problem. Here’s a list of potential causes and solutions: 1. Driver Issues Update your drivers: Ensure you have the latest AMD Radeon drivers installed. MSFS performance can be affected by outdated drivers. Go to AMD's official driver page to download the latest drivers. You might also want to try AMD's Adrenalin software to adjust specific settings for MSFS. Rollback to a stable driver: If you’re using a newer driver that caused performance issues, you could roll back to an older stable version that was known to work well with MSFS. 2. DirectX Version MSFS relies on DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. While the RX 7900XT supports both, make sure you're running the game in the correct version. You can toggle between DirectX 11 and 12 in the MSFS settings to see if one runs better than the other. 3. V-Sync and Frame Rate Settings Try disabling V-Sync or adjusting the frame rate settings in both MSFS and the AMD Adrenalin Control Panel. Sometimes, V-Sync can cause stuttering or performance drops in MSFS. You can also try setting a frame rate limit within MSFS, if you experience fluctuating frame rates. 4. Graphics Settings in MSFS Reduce graphical settings: The RX 7900XT is a powerful card, but MSFS is a very demanding game. Try lowering some of the settings like shadow quality, terrain detail, ambient occlusion, and cloud quality. Enable DLSS if available, or set render scaling to a lower percentage to improve performance. 5. Temperature and Overheating Check the temperature of your GPU during flight sessions. Sometimes, GPUs can throttle if they get too hot, causing frame drops or crashes. Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to keep track of your GPU temperature and ensure it’s running below the recommended threshold (usually around 85°C max for many GPUs). 6. Power Settings Make sure your system is set to High Performance in the Windows power settings. Sometimes, Windows may limit your GPU’s performance when it's in Balanced or Power Saver mode. 7. Windows Settings & Background Processes Game Mode: Ensure Game Mode is enabled in Windows 10/11, which can help MSFS prioritize system resources. Background processes: Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might affect the performance of MSFS. 8. MSFS and AMD Known Issues There might be specific issues with AMD Radeon GPUs and MSFS that are being worked on through patches. Check forums like the AMD Community or MSFS forums to see if others are experiencing similar issues and if a fix or workaround has been suggested. If none of these steps resolve your issue, could you describe the specific problem you're facing (e.g., low frame rates, crashes, artifacts, etc.)? It would help narrow down the potential cause. Can anybody comment on this? Thanks!!

XBOX Sign-In Screen Prevent MSFS2024 launching
What the heck is Microsoft thinking? When I launch MSFS 2024 a XBOX Game dialog sign in screen pops up wanting you to sign in to XBOX Game. Even if I click Sign In nothing happens! The progress bar stays on 0% and it just hangs. In my 25 + years of FS I have never seen anything like this!!!! I am running the Steam version.. PLEASE ADVISE! Thanks!

MS 2024. Park at Gate
When you select a gate at your departure airport, it places you outside the aircraft at that gate. I assume now you have to do a preflight checklist including a walk around. In the EFB, there is a checklist that I saw in a previous flight. I am unable to see it in my EFB in the current flight. Once you complete the walk around, does it automatically put you in the cockpit? Thanks!

FSX SE Windows Mode Sound Pauses Losing Focus
The title should say Windowed Mode.... I guess this has been an issue for awhile. I need FSX SE, when running in Windowed Mode and the FSX SE window loses focus to use another app, FSX SE keeps the flight going, but the sound pauses until you click back on the FSX SE window, then the sound resumes. It appears FSX P3D has a fix. But I want to remain using FSX-SE. With all of Home Cockpit systems that probably need to run external apps, etc. I am sure someone may have a utilty or something that would keep the sound active when FSX or FSX SE loses focus in windowed mode. Thanks!

Conteplating Buying / Using Pilot2ATC
The sound is feasible. But now you have to switch back and forth between the FSX system mouse and remote system mouse. I use Active Sky on a networked computer, but once you do the initial setup, load the flight plan, you rarely have to interface with it the rest of your flight. Where as with Pilot2ATC, you use the interface a lot more during the flight. Thanks!

Conteplating Buying / Using Pilot2ATC
Are you running additional software that allows you to share your mouse, etc? If so, what is the name of it (link). I am really curious how that works From a previous post : You will need additional software to be able to use your mouse/joystick and get sound from both computers. Thanks everyone who chimed in!
