Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I’ve seen mentioned that 2024 performs better than 2020. So, if I use the same settings in 2024 am I likely to get the same or better performance? Many thanks, Ben

I’ve been getting weird behavior using the lossless scaling app. Long story short - Lossless scaling target settings in the top right corner (in-game) change dynamically from 20/60 to 60/180 affecting performance. More details - I have a 4K 60hz screen so I set my target fps to 20 in RTSS, with a x3 multiplier in the app (to achieve 60 fps matched with my screen refresh rate). In-game I have v-sync enabled coupled with 100% refresh rate setting. This has only started recently, what could cause this if my fps target is locked to 20 in RTSS? Today I flew Split to Nice and wow, what a great trip it was! Beautiful flight across northern Italy. Then I thought, Genoa would be a good addition to my library of airports. Has anyone any experience of the Beautiful Model of the World version of this airport? Apart from freeware, it seems this is the only one available. Unless anyone knows differently. Hello, so I know this might be a longshot but I have tried posting on some of the developer forums but havent recieved any responses an figured I would also ask here. Anyway I like to fly out of Edwards AFB and have freeware version of the airport that adds a bunch of objects and textures to make it look more like real life. One of the runways (23L) has ILS but only in one direction and I would like to add an ILS to the other end. The thing is I’m not really sure how to to this, esepcially with a custom airport from a 3rd party. Hey all, Not really sure what to call this subject, but I’m planning on jumping onto MS2024 at release, but then moving over to a full new build pc in around Feb next year. Mines getting a little long in the tooth now so I want to do a new build when the 5000 series cards are released and possibly move over to the new AMD 9800X3D CPU (I’ve been Intel since…well probably 25 years now) Has anyone moved across onto new rig while using 2020? I’m wondering if the controller profiles are picked up if you do a new install on a new pc? I am assuming that if they are on 2020, then theoretically the same should apply for 2024? Many thanks! Does the big bird have an autopilot?

Does the Traffic Limiter work if the departure and destination airports are the same? I have tried it twice now, and AI planes have departed when I am airborne. In addition, I noticed that the Limiter states "Disabled" even when it is apparently enabled (the bar is green). I have also noticed at times that an airport is full when I depart, but it is empty when I land after a quick extended circuit. This seems to be the case during my second (or subsequent) flight in a session. Do I need to restart the AI Controller every time that I start a new flight?

I just successfully updated to Win 11 24H2 via Windows Update. Now whenever I launch the sim I get the following error message: "The game has crashed. Error Code: (0xc0000005)" Event Viewer says the faulting module is nvwgf2umx.dll. Just an FYI As I've noticed some people have been able to pre install this from the Microsoft store I thought I'd see if this was available to me. Once I got into the store I was indeed able to proceed with an install. However the install path was C:\Xbox games this time round. Having previously owned MSFS 2020 on media I notice that this is a different default install path this time. It was supposedly a 50GB install which strangely took less than 30 seconds (I'm currently on a 40mbit broadband connection. Soon to be 1gbit next week). I just bought the Pilots Dash 7. Seems OK, but no way to disappear the yoke? Seriously? Can't see heading indicator so it's basically useless this way. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.

Now that the FBW A380 is out, the consensus I get from many people is that the fidelity of the FBW A380 is quite good and can be easily flown on VATSIM from A to B. Of course, the FBW A380 is not "study level" at the moment. Having said that, iniBuilds is known for releasing pretty good fidelity level planes in MSFS, albeit they are probably not "study level" to the extent that PMDG or Fenix planes are in MSFS (I know people have a different definition of "study level," but for the sake of this post, I refer to "study level" as being at least PMDG's level, or above it, such as Fenix). Can anyone tell me what the native resolution of AIG traffic is? Is it 4096, 2048 or 1024. If it is 4096, I would like to reduce textures to either 2048 or 1024 . Thanks Stu

I'm wondering how users have set up their thrust reversers on their throttles. Do you map buttons that can be depressed to deploy or do you map an axis like throttles?

Is there any way or tool that I can generate a graphic profile of a controller in MSFS 2020? Sth like the image below. The thing is that I customized controllers and after a while it can be hard for me to recall some the keys I assigned. If I can save a image like this, that would be quite a help. I googled but couldn't find anything, and there appears no built-in tools in MSFS 2020.

I am posting this question on this particular forum because I’m noticing the behavior across multiple airplanes. The two airplanes I notice it the most are in the Fenix airbus all variants and the pmdg 777/737. The speed brakes when deployed in flight do absolutely nothing. Zilch, nada. Im type rated on the 737 in real life so i understand how “slippery transport category airplanes can be. However, I expect an increase in descent v/s. Even if it’s by 100 fpm. Just saw a video on YouTube of some cat firing up a bunch of stuff during the alpha. It did not give me good vibes. Basically, JF Pipers don't have working avionics as of now. Free Flight starts outside the aircraft and since the doors aren't coded to bring you into cockpit, the only way you are getting in is by switching the camera. License issues. PMDG DC-6 only has Engine 1 operational... Some aircraft don't even load in at all. I have a feeling this is going to be a bumpy road... For sure, we will get there, but I no longer expect aircraft to "just work" out of the box. Installers will have to be updated, at the very least. A2A Comanche doesn't even load in whatsoever…
