Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Decided to give it another go and see if anything improved. And it did! Flights were virtually lag-free, including in career mode which yesterday had been a slideshow with the same settings as the relatively smooth free flight. Career mode definitely has potential, but it needs a lot of tweaks. I was glad it stopped holding my hand so much after the first few flights by getting rid of the box trails in the sky. It only put them in the MFD which was much better. It still hasn't stopped putting the stupid pin markers in the world yet, which is really immersion breaking. I couldn't wait any longer so I decided to install it this morning and installation went well. No issues at all! After spending some time setting up my controllers, I flew (single engine plane) around my airport (KBKV) with live weather (light rain and cloudy) with high setting preset and the sim was smooth but not as smooth as MSFS 2020. I could not find a way to check the fps. Could not find the DEV mode setting to check fps, but I found everything else and became very familiar with the settings. Has anyone found a way to check fps? I also flew in NYC and the sim ran smooth, however I did not try my NYC scenery with bridges or payware airports. Does anyon…

Not sure if this has been brought up or discussed yet but my 2024 performance was not up to par with my 2020 performance. Granted, the game is new and there would probably be some trade-offs but I expected at least similar performance with similar settings. I did not experience this. It was quite choppy compared to my 2020 version with is rock steady at 60 fps. Then I recalled that I needed to swap my DLSS file on 2020 whenever any update occurred because it would revert to a lower version. I checked the 2024 version and lo' and behold, it was using version 2.4.12.0 (on my machine anyway). I swapped that version out with current version 3.8.10.0 and sure enough,…

In the G36 Bonanza, I am getting three yellow lights instead of three green.. Have I wrecked the gear, or is this a bug?

And if it does not yet exist on my system after initial MSFS2024 install, how to create/initialize it? So far I cannot locate it after finally successfully installing and starting MSFS2024. I am by no means a novice!

Been reading a lot of topics and comments here, but have yet to see anything about what I consider remaining shortcomings of 2020: Coastal water masks? Does the abyss still reach the beaches of most of the world's coastlines? Are the salt/dry lakes of the arid regions still full of water? Central Australia, US SW, Mexico, Atacama? Are the rivers of the world still a deep blue everywhere and don't match the topography of the mesh? Are the volcanic regions of the world still covered in trees? Black lava = autogen forests? When you select a gate at your departure airport, it places you outside the aircraft at that gate. I assume now you have to do a preflight checklist including a walk around. In the EFB, there is a checklist that I saw in a previous flight. I am unable to see it in my EFB in the current flight. Once you complete the walk around, does it automatically put you in the cockpit? Thanks!

I have not added anything, not changed anything but since the 2024 release, once I click on ‘Fly’ in 2020 it takes a HUGE amount more time to load a flight than before. (I haven’t installed 2024). Plus also I am seeing the ‘Bandwith too low. Switched to offline mode’ a lot more. This is despite me being on a 70mbps connection. I don’t want 2024 yet, so why is it affecting my use of 2020 so much??

Team, anybody with an idea how to actually disable scenery items in the new "my library" part of the market place? kindly enough MS transferred by previously bought items from 2020 but some are not compatible with 2024 yet (as foreseen). Like my sim-wings EDDM where the taxi bridges across the motorway are way too high. I can select that items, it says being streamed, but I see no option how to disable (in former terms "delete") this?

I've tried everything I know and everything that has been suggested here, and I still can't get MSFS2024 to install. I'm running Windows 11 and on the requirements page it states Windows 10. Could that be my problem. Anyone out there using having success using Windows 11? I have run out of things to try.

Hello, Anyone bought the steam version of MSFS2024 ?? I want to know how to proceed in downloading the SIm. I click on the ICON then it starts the intro, ect. then I get this screen saying Connect to XBOX network and the bottom half says As a cross platform game, need to connect to xbox. The thing is Im logged in already. and the bottom left says 0%. . . and the bottom right says in yellow connect to xbox. But Im on a pc not xbox. Any help is appreciated thanks.....

I desperately want to be able to run it, I've been using MSFS since the 90s, and I can't figure it out. A casual user will spend 20 seconds with it and never touch it again, and I can understand why!

Sorry to add to the many threads, but is anyone still getting stuck on 97%? I uninstalled it from the Windows Store and tried again, but thirty minutes later, it still sits on 97%. I'm based in the south of the UK.

I see lots of pros and cons throughout the forum. I see mostly gripes all over the place. I've been working for hours and trying to set up 2024 and have had some pretty successful flights. But, How about a formal thread here that only lists the observations of the MSFS 2024 users. Here's what I'm finding: The joystick CONTROLS area is kind of like a whole new area that is confusing. I have set up views in both planes and helicopters and I've set up most of the buttons on my joystick in each area; however, when I go back to the sim after shutting it down, I find that I sometimes have to do it over again. After multiple attempts with limited success and shall we say some rather humorous artifacting when I did get it to work I have decided to boot up FS2020 and doing a smooth and trouble free flight. You know the old saying? If it "ain't broken don't fix it" seems to apply well here. Also I am deeply concerned just how damaging this could end up being on our hobby? I can only move forward and backward. There are keys assigned to the usual WASD and also Shift-WASD but only W and S work. It's a word not allowed trying to walk around like this. Are there any other bindings I should look at?

My "Official2020" and "Official2024" folders are empty. Has anyone else encountered this? Not sure whether this is the culprit or not, but I have been so far unable to load a single flight. Not one. I am stuck with a blurry globe. Any clue as to how this can be resolved? I have tried re-installing, and I checked that I am not enrolled in the tech alfa in the XBOX Insider app. I tried flushing the DNS, etc. Nothing seems to be working. In the meantime Microsoft and Asobo are nowhere to be seen in trying resolve these fairly major issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Searched the forum and Google but no results, so figured I'd just ask here. Latest NVIDIA drivers are installed, but in the Game filters menu for MSFS 2024 only 2 filters are available: RTX HDR and RTX Vibrance. Everything else such as Color, Details, Exposure is not available. Am I missing something or is this related to game settings, e.g. Filters not available when DLSS and DLAA are active?

My first impressions of MSFS2024 As expected it installed fine but trying to get connected and start a flight was not so good. I eventually managed to get into the sim this morning after LOTS of restarts (and swearing) Once inside the sim it looks sleek and well thought out until you try to start a freeflight! I thought I was back in ARMA 3! Lots of walking around and it took me 20 minutes to discover how to enter the cockpit. Once inside the aircraft (TBM930) the view system is as expected, total s***!. I am playing around with the Control settings "Device Lists" for my Mouse, Keyboard, Tobii, Alpha, Bravo and Saitek Rudder Pedals. Just trying to feel my way around the setup menus. It appeared very complicated and daunting at first and still is to a degree. But I think after navigating through the menus things are somewhat becoming clearer, with me anyway. It will probably take sometime to get my settings back to what I liked in MSFS2020. Hi Everybody, Is there a way to turn off the moving display when in the menus? It is impossible to setup external views with the screens constantly in motion!!!

So far I am loving the new sounds. First thing I noticed when outside the plane doing a walk around was just how realistic (finally loud) the AI planes finally are. Tprops as they taxi by sound on point and a jet took off with a long roar as they climbed out. Additionally, I have the headset sound set to my Bose aviation headset that has noise canceling and my main speakers for all the other sounds. In doing so, when I turn on the battery I hear a very faith RF noise in the headset very much like what you get in a real plane. Not sure if this will be just for default planes or available in general and tailored towards the various types of planes. Its a subtle nice to…
