Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Last night I finely experienced a somewhat reasonable test flight and for the first time I actually found myself enjoying FS2024. I was able to boot the sim in about 2 to 3 minutes flat and the UI was no longer a clunky and stuttering mess. Well, the UI is still a mess but at least it was working. It was a quick flight in the Beech 18 from Reno to South Lake Tahoe with a quick circle of downtown Reno thrown in. Downtown Reno looked much the same as the alpha test with maybe a bit more detail but its hard to say? Performance was pretty solid this time around! I found out how to crouch, but how do you run or move faster? tried shift per usual but that did not work. any other walk-around controls that work?

When I start a flight, my view is floor level and I can see through the world. How do you move the camera up to properly walk around!?

Hi, i installed it but i change raytraced shadows by fault i guess to on and since the MSFS2024 is CTD. Anywhere i can reset graphics `? (tried the repair option - still CTD at 57%) Thanks Michael Moe

Predominately displayed in the main camera settings is something called “Head Up Mode”. However if you search the actual control mappings, there is nothing called Head Up Mode. So what is it and how do you enable it?

If its been awhile since you went through the process of installing stuff into FS2020, you might have forgotten what you did and where you put stuff. The purpose of this post is to hopefully help point you in the right direction to get two items working correctly in MSFS2024 if you already have them working in MSFS2020. Anyone getting these default planes to load? Each time I hit fly now I get crash to desktop. I am using Steam with vanilla setup. This seems to be happening alot with Steam and apparently not so much with Xbox.

Perhaps I missed it. Has there been a reason explained for all the key binding changes? Slew used to be just Y. Nope now it's Shift Z Spoilers retract and extend used to be /. Now it's Ctrl N/M

Anyone figure out how to view in Airbus? The default view seems to be missing in 2024 and I can setup the panel in free form view. I just want to be able to see the entire overhead panel fixed. Thanks.

Assuming we get BATC and FSHud working with the new sim, it's a bit disappointing we won't be able to use it in career mode as it forces you to use the half baked internal ATC. Unless we ignore it altogether and just go with what the third party apps tell us, and then take the hit with our XP? Has anyone got to this stage yet or has any thoughts on the development and whether these things will play nicely with the career mode? (Which I am really enjoying)

After watching a YouTube video on balloons in MSFS2024, I tried it and found it to be quiet enjoyable, especially after all the aggravation I've had with the airplanes. I selected an open field and set it as my departure. If you're stress out with all the other things that are going on with this sim, try it.

First off, this is not meant to be a "where are my repaints??" thread, but I'm curious if there is something that makes the default aircraft challenging or impossible to paint? There's no liveries for any default aircraft that I can find on flightsim.to...even with the launch having been challenging I would have thought the great painters in the flightsim community would have been all over the new aircraft if they could? Anyone know how to do this. I have a hat switch on the Alpha and my T16000. I have tried the view menu, look up, left, right, 45 degrees, etc. and it does really weird things. Zooms outside of the cockpit. I just want to look around the flight deck as per normal. thanks.

I've followed the hype from Asobo and hopes and aspirations of the YouTube word not allowed since MSFS2024 was announced. After yesterday's debacle (for which heads should roll), aside from the gimmics and 'gameplay' that Asobo seems to think attracts Joe Public, it would be interesting to learn of anything in this release that would not have been possible to introduce via upgrading (as has happened over the past 4 years) various sections of the 2020 program. Cloud provision is not one of them so let's rule that out for starters.

Anybody know how to disable cockpit labels. When I point my mouse pointer, I get a description of XY and Z. Super annoying!

Maybe I am being pedantic but is there a way to look at your flight training scores in career mode in high detail? Similar to the screen that shows up after you have completed a training module. I can only find my grade for my past training but not the detailed analysis.

First flight today on 2020, FPS 10-12. I have never seen FPS lower than 35.

Hi - the MSFS Forums and bug reports are so inundated with issues that I thought I'd ask this simple question here. As soon as I load into a cockpit in MSFS2024 my camera immediately points down to the seat. I've tried everything including removing peripherals, rebinding the middle-mouse button (works fine in FS2020) and removed the keyboard binding for cockpit down, up, left, right. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone solved it? Thank you, Len
