Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have been trying to find my way across the new GUI, with not much success 😕 Started b thinking that having - by default - settings organized under "Aircraft" / "Glider" / "Helicopter" ... might be a good option in FS 2024, but then I'm all messed around the "General" / "Airplanes" / "Specific" sub-classes 😞 ??? The "Specific" for instance - are they supposed to be populated only with default assigned specific controls for a given aircraft, like for instance a hot air balloon or are users "free" to define their specific controls for a given aircraft? Apparently I can't edit that section ? I wouldn't like to call it a mess ... but that's how I feel about it…

I have an RTX 4090. In 2020 I was getting big fps numbers, especially sitting on the home screen or on the tarmac. Now in 2024 even sitting on the home screen I am only seeing like 200, instead of the old 600 or 800 when just sitting static. I believe I have the latest Nvidia driver. And everything is DX12 now, so can anyone give me any insights as to what I might have set wrong or what's going on? Thanks ... Rob

I have finally got spad working in 2024. My bravo and alpha work great. Obviously you have to make a blank profile first although I usually use the ms config for my throttle and yoke. I tried to do the settings in 2024 but couldn't get most to work. So, if you have used spad before, forget the new menu and use spad instead. So far, I have the FSR500 AND C414 set up and running the same as in 2020. Happy days! Finally getting my head around 2024.

I just finished a 9.5 hour flight in the A333. Very blown away in how this sim is with graphics/weather/flight dynamics. I flew from YBBN to RJAA. Both airports and the aircraft were streamed and looked very nice\ no issues. Rock solid 60fps all throughout the flight. I'm not going to uninstall MSFS2020 I'll keep it on a seperate SDD but I can see the potential. Yes the controls are annoying and there were server issues on the first few days but for me in east coast Australia it's settled down very nicely.

Default planes like Zlins, Cub Crafter Cubs etc, etc don't respond on my mouse action or default Ctrl+Enter keyboard command. Cannot run these aircraft. Checked for conflicts = none. MSFS2024 keyboard layout. Am I the only one and is there some cure for it?

So if I read correctly, once I have my interment and night certifications, I should be flying in in real time and real whether, but I am not. I have have clear sky's and daytime even though it is night.

CYCD is a small regional airport with at most one Q400 and one 737 parked at the terminal. Everytime I fly there, there are four big airliners.. KLM, and others, that do not belong. Can I turn this off in Settings?

You are now able to click anywhere on the globe in the free flight menu and rather being forced to start 1500 ft above ground you can choose to spawn on the ground in either a cold and dark or ready to taxi state. It allows a half way situation between full walkaround and starting on runway as you can click on an airport parking spot and choose ready to taxi state. Correction: you cannot click a marked parking spot but can choose a location nearby edit: by marked parking spot I mean the small white dots around an airport. You cannot choose the custom option I describe at these locations.

Yep, 19 attempts today so far and absolutely no luck. Several airports, different planes... It just sits there and spins, goes back to main menu with no issues when I hit ESC. What a s show. Scandalous even.

Hi, I already use the throttle quadrant, but considering buying the addon for spoiler and flaps. Can I use it also for boeing aircraft? I have some doubts because for the 737 I would need 1-2-5-10-15-25-30-40, so 8 possible settings. On the quandrant are only 4. Any ideas???

Hi Is anyone having issues getting into the cockpit of the 500, There's no walkaround to do as there's no covers on the pitot tubes etc. But as soon as i hit Shift/C the screen changes for a second, but then leaves me standing behind the aircraft, I have tried it countless times with the same result. All others are fine.

hope this gets fixed soon because i have tried to set it and it's not remembering it's location, not returning to pilot seat either. a real mess.

I've tried adding my Justflight TBM 850 to 2024 but when I go in and start the game it's not there. During the install it never asks me for the path to the community folder. What am I missing here guys? Was so easy in 2020. Thanks for any help!

Been holding off on upgrading because of the stupid WMR removal that would kill my Reverb, but I just ordered a new VR set so there's no real reason to stay on 10, unless performance would suffer. Anyone having problems? (Beyond what the rest of us are having by default, that is. 😉 )

During free flight the weather is 9/10 always set to 225/3? I have to go into weather flick to preset, custom back to Live for the weather to change? Anyone else?

I have been trying to get this corrected for some time now... ATC and all pilots are one and the same voice. Using Azure, real-time traffic, Windows 11. I've tried turning Azure on and off, real-time traffic on and off.

I noticed that pilots aren't showing in external views for Marketplace 2020 planes now appearing in 2024, for example, the various Carenados. The pilots do appear in external views for the default planes. Not a biggie, I spend most of my flying time in the cockpit anyway, but I wonder if there's something I should be doing to make them appear. Thanks - Bob

Really liking how the snow is depicted on the new higher resolution ground terrain. Gives the snow depth and texture as it fills the crevices.

After installing the Navigraph Plugins for MSFS 2024 (beta) I find I find I have full Simbrief integration with charts and performance now in the stock MSFS 2024 EFB. IS THIS ONLY NEWS JUST TO ME? Playing with it now wearing a giant grin on face. -B

Bumped onto this. Looks like one can create a flight plan while having morning coffee and later on the day load it when flying. Is this bugged or is it just me? It worked when I first loaded the sim but now it doesn't matter what I do with the mouse assignments, the mouse doesn't have any movement?
