Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

So i loaded the Comanche and the Analog Bonanza in the community folder of 2024 as an experiment. The A2A plane worked 100% as far as I could tell. Auto pilot worked fine and the GPS worked also and the flight model seemed ok. The Bonanza never loaded though it appeared as a choice in the planes section. I had purchased the V35 from the market place and that also showed up and worked, but I'm not sure the autopilot worked correctly.

While setting up a flight and talking to AI ATC my PC restarted! Anyone else? I switched AI to OFF but they stubornly remain in the sim. Any idea how to get rid of live traffic? I'd like to try AIG... Thanks!

Third session with MSFS2024. The loading to the main menu actually is getting better: takes just a few minutes now. I managed to plan a flight and set up the time of day etc. but whenever I press Fly (or whatever) I get to see the earth from outer space and... that's it. Anyone else who is constantly stuck in space? Is there anything I can do to get down to earth and finally enter my plane? Or is it just bad luck? I do get messages about low bandwidth (while I have superfast internet). I know: the servers... But I wonder why there are people who are able to actually get into a plane and fly...! After a long download at last FS2024 was loaded at my system. I configured the avatar and then was taken to the main screen. I found a few options to start a flight, e.g. world photographer, free flight, but I didn't detect an option to configure the 2024 settings. No doubt I overlooked something, one of my senior moments I guess, but can any of you shed some light on how to configure graphic settings etc. Thanks a lot for any assistance in this matter. Hans

Have you noticed the "free flight" button on the main menu is so tiny ? It implies to the user this is not the main way we are expected to use the flight simulator. i don't like this

Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary measures. Many of us uninstalled FS2020 and cannot access FS2024 due to server overload. FS2020 servers could be temporarily shut down and allocated for FS2024 to help us in this dire situation. FS2020 users can still play offline without the photo imagery, we don't have this choice in FS2024

Outside of the abysmal login queue and other things, here’s my take on the actual in game experience. here are my PC specs… 9750x3d 32 GB of RAM Msfs 2024 is on a m.2 drive. 300 Mbps internet speed into my home. running a RTX 4080 at 4k. The game runs well on my PC in most cases but it is harder on my PC as a whole. In almost all situations and especially with the airliners and at bigger airports, I was going over my 32GB of system RAM. Gonna have to upgrade that. For those who have been actually able to use the new sim, I'm curious - For those of us not interested in hyper-accurate rocks, grass, trees, or migrating herds of goats, preferring to fly airliners only. What *exactly* is better in FS24 vs FS20? Mind you, I have a high-end system, so I don't have any performance issues, so that's not a factor. Are the clouds better? Better looking custom airports? How is the FS24 default Max vs iFLY? What exactly? I installed 2024 on my SSD in the MSFS folder where my 2020 resides. When I go to this folder the only thing there is MSFS 2024 and it's Content folder. There is none of the other files including the Community folder. The 2020 Package folder which includes the 2020 Community folder is still there. I would like to add some of these files to the 2024 Community Folder but I can't find it. I would also like to add an icon for 2024 to my taskbar but can't find the .exe file or any of the 2024 files for that matter. I have to go to the Microsoft Store to open 2024. Where are they?

Seeing as we are getting the sim up and running now, has anyone ventured into BATC or FSHud? Are these working at all? I want to use AIG traffic, and am wondering how to go about getting things set up, if they work at all! (I'm assuming the default traffic and ATC is a massive dumpster fire as usual) Also, can we use this as part of career mode? And a random question. Does time weather in career mode reflect reality or is it preprogrammed depending on the mission? TIA!

I can see traffic settings in the UserCfg.opt file but not in the UI. Or am I just not seeing it?

I bought Standard yesterday because I thought my MSFS2020 WB-Sim Cessna 172 would work in MSFS 2024. Well, it doesn't. I put it in the community folder and the version with the skis pops up, but there is no plane visible once I load the game. Does anyone know if either: a) There is a way to get a working Cessna 172 using Standard mode? E.g. buy a third-party plane? or, b) Upgrade from Standard to Deluxe without paying $99... e.g. only pay the difference between the two versions? Thanks!

Hi, Just read that Microsoft/Asobo recommends that you restart the install if stuck at over 90%.

Instead of being an early installer, I decided to rely on the community before I begin. 1) How do I install MSFS 2024 to my D drive? 2) How much space does it take after a full install? 3) Is it loading faster than MSFS 2020? 4) Is the planner vastly improved? 5) Are controllers easy to configure? Please share anything that can easy the transition. I'm also interested in knowing if the weather, atc & ai traffic are improved. Looking forward to trying it ASAP. Thanks. Jose

Started the install at 11am EST, stepped away from the computer, came back, was in, created avatar, went to get a plane, hardly no planes available. Quit, checked MSFS2020 to make sure it still ran fine, it did, started 24 again, hung at 97%. Quit, started again, got in, all the planes were there so now its time for a flight. C152 at Santa Barbra KSBA. Couple of axis assignments just to get the basics and I was taxing out. I used Ultra setting TAA and enabled DLSS. The world looks beautiful and the airport looked alive with lots of GA planes and ppl around. Ground friction felt realistic as no more turning on a dime. Flight went smooth. The "queue" thing finally went away awhile ago, for me anyway here in the USA. Which is a good thing because I discovered a lot of ways to crash the sim. I really like the new scenery. It's definitely an improvement over the old sim. I loaded into my home airport and unlike 2020, the hangars are there rather than just being flat pads on the ground. It's also nicely populated with appropriate aircraft - in 2020 it wasn't unusual to see A320s at an airport that can't take anything larger than a private jet. It's definitely not perfect. The buildings are still melty but you have to get a lot closer to them before it becomes obvious. It's a bit tree happy. There are…
