Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

OK, after enjoying FS2020 a fair amount, I took a year off and have recently started back up again with 2024. Very impressive, but I'm having trouble with a number of things. I can't get my Redbird pedals to work (even though they show up in the controls section), having trouble configuring my Honeycomb yoke and throttle, can't deploy water rudders on any floatplane, etc. What I need is a recommendation for a good tutorial on how to operate this whole shebang. I've searched (I believe thoroughly) on this forum and am still coming away confused. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. 🙂

I also posted the below on the Just Flight TBM850 forum, but it does not seem to be very active. All of a "sudden", VLOC does not seem to be working. If while setting on the runway I tune in the ILS or a nearby VOR, the CDI in the HSI just drifts back and forth kind of from one side of the display to the other. This happens no matter what "radio" I use for NAV1 -- I have tried the GNS 530, PMS 750, TDS GTN750Xi and the KX155. This does not happen with other aircraft I have tried. I have tried re-installing the TBM850, and tried with essentially an empty Community folder, but that didn't help. I don't use any "addon" liveries. BTW, same thing happens when using NAV2 …

AutoFPS (0.4.4.5) was working OK in sim (2024 Beta) when the sim ended normally. The AutoFPS box disappeared from the screen seconds after the sim terminated - just as always. I made some changes to my community file and tried to restart AutoFPS but it keeps telling me there is a copy of the program already running. I used Task Manager to find and terminate the MSFS_AutoFPS.exe process but found none. I then used the DOS Command TASKKILL to terminate any process beginning with MSFS_Auto*. I was looking at the London expansion for Fallout 4 and got to thinking *wow* this game is around 10 years old and really amazing things are still happening. By the same token I also thought about the MSFS franchise, it's longevity and where MS might to wanting to take it. Which lead me to the question of just "where *is* MS intending to take the MSFS franchise long term ?". Went to fly the Longitude in 2024 and it is not in the list. Looked in the SimObjects/Airplanes folder for 2024 and it's there but just doesn't show in the selection screen. Fortunately I can fly the Longitude in 2020. I don't recall anything like this happening. Since the a/c are streamed I assume "something" is either preventing the stream or preventing it from showing up but I haven't a clue. It's not in the MyLibrary, it's just not anywhere.

I'm learning the ATC. Shown below is the ATC session while flying the PMDG 737 in MSFS 2020. The text below appears in a span of less than 2 minutes. I'm currently flying at FL350 heading south in the US. The waypoint mentioned by ATC "HARPR" is not programmed in the FMC. A few questions: 1. I'm at FL350. ATC wants me to descend to FL340 and then climb to FL410. How is this possible? 2. How do I locate the HARPR waypoint? Why does ATC want me to head to 015 when my current heading is 164? 3. Why is radar service terminated? 4. Why is IFR replaced with VFR and how could I possibly go VFR (less than 18,000 feet in the US) in such a short time? Also, I'm st…

Hi Everybody, Well, all was fine last ride. Today I turn on the computer and MS2020 just crashes to desktop. It won't even boot into safe mode. Do I have to do a reinstall?

I haven't seen or found a way to locate the MSFS 2024 folder where you want it. I don't want to locate folders in obscure locations that are difficult to find like MS favors. Something like D:\Flight Simulation\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 like I currently use Any help would be greatly appreciated, Darryl

It’d be nice to compile a list of what 3rd party FS2020 planes work in FS2024. All tested in the latest beta. So far I’ve found the PMDG 777 works flawlessly. PMDG 737 kinda works Black square TBM & Dukes work without issues. FBW A380 works Those are all that I’ve tested so far.

Help Keep Little Navmap for MSFS 2024 If you would like to keep Little Navmap alive, you might “upvote” the effort by Alex Barthel (Little Navmap’s author) to get the program access to unencrypted airport data. Apparently, in the release of MSFS 2024 those data are encrypted when they were not restricted in MSFS 2020. (The information now lies in the cloud rather than on the user’s own PC.) Any single vote won’t by itself make a difference. But if all the users act, then maybe MS-Asobo will respond. (At this posting, the current “vote” total is 723. I want to Uninstall and reinstall 2024 due to some glitching. Other times it just will not load. The spinning wheel at lower right of the screen starts spinning but then freezes up. Once that happens, CTL-ALT-DEL is my only recourse. I am on Steam but wondering if I reinstalled on Microsoft instead. When flying, I get a glitch almost exactly every 60 seconds. Using the stopwatch on my phone, I can predict exactly when the next glitch (short pause) will occur. It is called a "Steam Client webhelper" So I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how to uninstall 2024 from Steam and reinstall on Microsoft. Hi, my goal is to remove static parked aircraft in MSFS 2024, and inject parked aircraft with PSXTraffic. But going to Settings > Graphics > Global Rendering Quality > Traffic Airport Quality and selecting OFF also stops the airport ground vehicles, fuel trucks, tugs, and all the other animated objects. I'm actually fine with all those things, I just don't want the aircraft. Is there a way to disable MSFS 2024's native parked aircraft, while keeping all the other airport traffic?

Does anyone know the correct way to backup 2020 / 2024 so that you dont have to start over on doing reinstall? This is for steam and of course the Backup Files option the Steam does not seem to work..Hard to believe.

Hi there, Does anyone know how to setup the thrustmaster TCA throttle so I can use the engine starter switches as fuel on/shutoff valves on the Maddog in Fs2024. I've tried their forum but haven't been able to find anything. Thanks for helping in advance, Pete

Is being made? Or anything similar. I like planes like the Constellation, DC-3, Electra (both) and the Boeing 247. My favorite at the moment is the old Electra. Hoping to see some more classics inbound. What I'd really like to see is the shorter L-749 Constellation.

Hey all, wasnt really sure where to put this but either way, sorry if it’s in the wrong section. How do you guys think MSFS and DCS stack up agianst each other in terms of systems simulation (and also overall)? Talking the top MSFS airliners (E.g PMDG/Fenix) vs DCS high fidelity modules (F18 for example). Overall, which do you guys think offer the most realistic experience? My intention with this post isn’t to create a sim-war where the brave internet warriors of MSFS & DCS go head to head. Rather i’m just genuinely curious which offers the more realistic experience. Hi, I'm trying to purchase Kennedy Space Center off the marketplace. I haven't purchased anything from it for ages. I can see a box pop up so fast I can't even make out what it is, it's probably the payment box. I remember I had this problem the last and only time I ever bought something this way, years ago. The notification box is also telling me it was cancelled. I'm using the store version of 2020. What I've tried so far: Updated my credit card info. Logged in and out of MSFS Marketplace. This has happened to me twice today. I can get around it by restarting my PC (and starting MSFS again) but just wondering why it has started to do this today? Also I now can't get 'windows' mode to 'stick' anymore. I select it then 'apply' but the next time I start MSFS it has returned to full screen. Is this part of the last update to MSFS?

I've installed MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe edition twice now. My interest is in the Citation Longitude. It along with other additional airframes should be available but isn't. I've excluded the XBOX directory from Norton and start the sim in admin mode. At a loss. Suggestions appreciated.
