Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

It's interesting: Just a few days ago I posted (on another forum) a collection of freeware airports, concentrating on Spain. I was dithering posting it here too, but just bumped into this and thought "Hey, this will do, too!"

I'm slightly surprised at just how much I'm enjoying this model - one of the best warbirds available for FS20, in my view. One thing is eluding me, however - when I operate the tailwheel lock, there is a mechanical clicking sound ( it seems to come from behind the pilot's seat ) but I can't find any physical indication such as a lever or handle. Has anyone found anything ? It'd be nice to have something you can visually check before landing.

I've been thinking a motion rig might add some realism to my flight/car sim. I use VR and have a Reverb G2 headset. A friend has the DOF Reality H3 motion rig with the upgraded SFU gearboxes. He also uses VR and has a Reverb G2 headset. I've used his H3 a few hours on race cars and flying. It seems to be fairly accurate replicating the feeling of driving the cars. However, when flying using MSFS 2020, it does not work correctly. I'm a full scale pilot and I know that when one does a coordinated turn, you only feel G forces downward into the seat - your body does not lean. Not much of an Asia area expert here and rarely fly out there, but recently APL has been sending me down to Asia quite a bit. There are two RCTP's available on the market and both overpriced. One from Double T (through IniBuilds) and the other from SimMarket and some other dev. Which to get?

The thing is I have both base version and every flight i put my route in the world map and looks fine ILS approach everything looks good. but then when i am actually in the game i have the route loaded on my FMC and ND but i miss the complete ILS part and the beginning waypoints, and i have to manually press the DIR page to put my first waypoint in to get the NAV mode working..... cant push the Heading knob without that ste…

Has anyone found a way to turn turbulence up or make them exist at all? Both 20/24 need to up the game with these effects, I recently flew and it seemed like all the pilot did was chase a smooth ride for the passengers, way too calm in the sim. Any help would be great. Thank you, Anthony

I have the FSR500 and really like it. I know the Black Square add-ons have a Sterling reputation for systems, but I REALLY like the FSR 's flight model ("full" CFD/etc.). If anyone has both, how do you feel the FM/handling compares? or anything else...? AND a big one: how well does it work in v2024...? Even if you don't have the FSR, what's most satisfying for you about the Turbine Duke...?

Has Active sky stopped in 24? It was working but now it shows connected with conditions correct in the app but the sim is clear.

I have noticed that the PMDG seems to get about 15% more FPS than the iFly. Has anyone noticed this? I searched on Google, and nobody seems to have posted a comparison between these two 737s.

Beta SU 2 on both of my systems. When trying to open the filters It says that this is no supported game. Using 576.02 The NV App is not that stable for me. I do not have the intention of using Reshade as that makes my server less stable ( many cockpit addons software ). Is there a workaround ?

Hi All, I currently have sim audio going to speakers and communications output routed to headphones. As most of us probably do. Does anyone know of a way to toggle the communications between a headset and speakers?? Similar to many airlines that I understand are on headphones for critical phases of flight, but switch ATC to speakers for cruise. Obviously, I’m looking to avoid having to escape out of the flight to make the change. Is there anyway to setup a hotkey? Appreciate any and all suggestions. Mark M

Anyone using atmos? They added an auto load feature so you can just start it up and it’ll load your favorite presets automatically. My (and others) biggest gripe with the program was that you had to fiddle with the settings every time you restarted the sim or program. His makes it so much easier to use…but I’d really like some plug n play settings. Sifting through all of the uploaded community profile combinations is a bit annoying, so if anyone has general settings that are recommended, please share! Planning on using this without reshade or NV filters.

So I put a fs2020 aircraft (yak 18t) in ms2024 specific folder and flew it around just fine....only next time I started fs2024 it did not appear in the aircraft selection anymore, and since then no show....and the aircraft folder just sits there where I put it. Weird stuff

Do you use it for more than simply cut & paste of an externaly built (Simbried in my case) flightplan, so that it can become availabe in the FMC of some of the default aircraft? Even the default aircraft appear not to have performance data available? Setting up weight & ballance is so clumsy. I have a series of fileds to enter, with interesting details like taxi fuel, ... but then I can't simply type ZFW and go? Finally with the latest SU2 betas I can set Fuel as a whole, not bad... Can you point me to some worth watching / informative document / youtube about how to use the MASOBO FlightPlanner to it's best? Thx!

Hi, This may be more related to the A321 CEO in general, and not the FSL, but that's the one I bought so... I have done 2 flights now and I've noticed that the plane has issues getting above FL230 on both occasions (Simbrief planned for FL350, as if that was ever going to happen...). I couldn't even make the minimum altitude of FL200 on the MEDA1A SID departing from LSGG RWY22. I have never before missed a minimum with a jet, at any weight! My TOW was 74600 kg (out of a MTOW of 93500 kg). Does this bird even get off the ground at MTOW? 🙂 Anyway, is this normal? Is this a flying sitting duck? 🙂 Or am I missing something entirely? I flew from Headcorn, Kent, UK to Little Gransden UK. Weather was forecasted showers. As I approach SE London to cross the Thames, showers were indeed approaching from the west. The way the shower was depicted seemed improved over anything else I have seen in default weather. Anyone else? Some distance from the shower was this layer. Looking further to the right, towards the shower, clouds were lowering. Further to the right, looking towards Docklands and Central London at the shower itself.

While there are handful of developers are making all kinds of Airbus planes, there is only PMDG making the Boeing series planes, although iFly makes only one model of 737Max8. Is it particular hard of getting licensed from Boeing or what. There are so many models in Boeing the developers can make and get into a huge MSFS market. Not understand why many of them choose Airbus routes, while we have bunch of paid or freeware versions of all sort of Airbus planes. Competition encourages quality and productivity, that is why we see how slow a Boeing model coming to the market while the Airbus is full of new model continuously.

The question is: when you buy a new (to you) complicated aircraft do you read the manual ? And if affirmative do you take it with you while flying and - what this topic is supposed to be about - : how ?? Do you print the manual (i figure not likely....), do you break the immersion by having a look at it on the same monitor or do you have a laptop or tablet next to your FS monitor ? I am asking because i want to stop printing manuals (because it's getting ridiculous and expensive and i need to change glasses all the time..). Has anyone run into this? My standard custom camera cockpit view which I select with shift+f1 and set with shift+5 suddenly insists on positioning me outside the cockpit. It has worked correctly for months and now refuses to cooperate... I checked the keyboard control settings, and they claim to still have these keys active.. but it is not working as intended.. What next?

I generally "only" fly one or two addons within a TYPE of aircraft, but many addons in total... ...across 3 different flight sims. I can't imagine limiting myself to just one.
