I believe that's one of the legitimate concerns with their methodology. Though sensible from a data collection standpoint, the branching questions tend to force a categorization that is narrow and deep. Whereas I believe we are quite a bit more varied and nuanced, and spread across a MUCH broader spectrum of use cases than this survey would indicate. Again, my main concerns are the effects this "prejudice" may have on the 3rd Party Developers strategies (however unintentional it may be). Edited April 17, 20251 yr by UrgentSiesta "Grammer"

I would rather get good at flying one aircraft, than fumbling around in a bunch of airplanes.. 🙂 Just like my view of married life. Hehehe Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I fly six aircraft in order of increasing speed… Vertx DA-62 Carenado PC12 Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 PMDG 737-800/900 PMDG 777-200 / 300ER FS Labs Concorde. Only six and I swap around fairly frequently to keep my mind sharp. If you fly only the one you get so used to it you hardly need to think how to start it up and fly it. When you get older it’s important to keep out of your comfort zone. 👍 Any news on the Lear? I got fed up waiting for it in MSFS. If it shows up in MSFS 2024 it would be one of only three or four planes I hope to limit myself to in MSFS 2024 (one would be the 737, PMDG or iFly, for long distance flights: and two still undecided). No idea I’m afraid. You’d need to contact the developers or visit their website and check on any progress. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 17, 20251 yr I only fly the HJET because I'm basically lazy and have my own checklist that I am improving. dd

It makes flying more relaxed and enjoyable for me So do I. But the fun (and mental exercise) comes in take-off and landing, and programming the FMC. Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. April 18, 20251 yr Going by what I see online then its more than 30% and most of them are A320s. In fact I sometimes wonder why nobody has developed a sim with just an A320 and no scenery except for 50 miles around major airports, I'm sure that would satisfy a large proportion of users.🙃
April 18, 20251 yr PROBLEMS when you have TOO MANY choices: Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
April 18, 20251 yr I rotate among 5 aircraft with an occasional foray into other aircraft. I attempt to be fairly competent among those 5 before adding any new. Randall Rocke
April 18, 20251 yr The other point is that I can get my HJET into the air FAST so I can enjoy the great 2024 scenery. Especially luv to study geology. dd
April 19, 20251 yr Interesting results. I was thinking of posting a similar question myself. I have had msfs for a while but not used it much until recently hence I am still really a beginner. I am thinking of buying 2024 but I am having difficulty deciding which version to get and in particular whether to get the Aviator version. There is the question of whether the included aircraft that have problems running in 2024 will ever get fixed or updated but also the package is a great deal if you use a good number of the aircraft but becomes less good value if you use only a few of them. The general question of whether to fly a few aircraft only or try lots of them also applies. Being new I know I only need a couple of basic aircraft at the moment to build up my skills and if I have lots in the hangar most won't get used. I think there are 125 aircraft in total with PD plus the Aviator ones. I have also been looking at the available early biplane/open cockpit aircraft. I can see how some one could successfully have a selection of these and be able to fly them all successfully as the systems are very basic but more complex aircraft must be difficult or even impossible to learn and remember very many and stay competent.

I went for the Aviator Edition myself. Absolutely no regrets and would buy again. I haven't even flown all of them, of course, but I never get bored because there's always something completely new to fly. Yes, there are some disappointments like the 707, but there are many more that are quite enjoyable.
