  1. Agree totally with @simfan1983 you do need ActiveSky for real time weather. Otherwise itโ€™s just static presets in P3D. I personally really like Orbx True Earth, and I have their other older stuff for the regions not covered by True Earth. if you buy it, wait for a sale - many time itโ€™ll go down to 40% off ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  2. I have had remarkably few issues with either 2020 or 2024 (other than a few days after launch for both). Had a few with P3D, and a few with XP and DCS world. Nothings perfect. With MSFS I just donโ€™t feel the need to buy airports. The ones that are included are adequate. And the freeware scene is just stunning - practically anywhere you might want to go, thereโ€™s an above average airport that someoneโ€™s made for you. And yeah, there are a few where I really want it to be โ€œrightโ€. Usually airports that I happen to know well. And Iโ€™m willing to pay for them because they look more realistic than anything in any other sim. You donโ€™t need fsuipc with MSFS, Xp, or DCS. Well, at least Iโ€™ve never run into an issue not having itโ€ฆ You certainly donโ€™t need ActiveSky - itโ€™s built right in to the new sims. I say all this not to proclaim that one is better than the other, but rather that the only legit reason not to switch is the FSL Concorde. And I get it - for the longest time, I flew P3D for the MilViz T-38C & A, the PMDG 747-8i, the Majestic Q400, and the A2A Civ Mustang. After several years, other Hi Fi addons in other sims have now whittled that down to just the MilViz T-38C (which is the one they built for the IRL USAF) and the A2A Civ Mustang. Itโ€™s looking to be at least several more years until the Civ Mustang comes, and the T-38C will never come because the USAF yanked them from public sale. So Iโ€™ll have P3D for quite awhile yet (and I still have all my P3D addons loaded and ready to go if I ever โ€œneedโ€ them). But in the meantime, the other sims & addons are coming along nicely and each has their own nice experiences to offer. ๐Ÿค™
  3. I bought the Aviator edition, mainly because I enjoy them for mostly historical reasons. BUT, most of them are still v2020 only and have a number of quirks in v2024. Previously, I bought 2020 Premium Deluxe for the Longitude and 787. And the extra handful of Hand Crafted airports give me a reason to fly atypical locations. I wouldโ€™ve bought v2024 PE for similar reasons (such as the C-17, et al). In sum, the simulator remains exactly the same across editions, and IIRC, all the World Update freebies have been released for all editions. So, if youโ€™re interested in any of the extra aircraft or airfields, then yes. But if you only fly 3rd Party addons, then stick with Standard.
  4. Havenโ€™t had a problem here. Sounds like your antivirus is interfering or the install went bad. In re your antipathy towards Discord, I say, โ€œToo Badโ€. And I say that as a guy who doesnโ€™t even LIKE Discord. When I use it, I always use the web browser for access. Iโ€™ve never even had it installed. And when Iโ€™ve occasionally needed it for support from several developers, itโ€™s been fine - even to an old geezer like me ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค™ After all, itโ€™s not like FSW is telling you to send a letter or make a phone call ๐Ÿคฃ
  5. Have you folks decided on what the upgrade policy is? I havenโ€™t seen anything definitive as yetโ€ฆ
  6. Oh yes, Iโ€™m sure people will enjoy it. but for me, like I said above โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
  7. I meanโ€ฆgiven the quality and significant overlap of the Longitude, Iโ€™m not in the least tempted by stuff like this. Particularly with the Praetor and FSR Phenom โ€œcoming soon(ish)โ€.
  8. I was just saying in another thread about warbirds that this is something I do, too (my filters are a little tighter - has to be at least a good addon). ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘
  9. Im gonna go with this, esp for any injected traffic.
  10. How soโ€ฆ? theres no โ€œportingโ€ between the sims, other than some of the 3D modelingโ€ฆ
  11. Uhโ€ฆone can certainly compare and contrast! I will agree that the A2A and DCS Mustangs are significantly different, AND that the A2A seems to align more accurately with IRL pilot accounts, in particular for take off & landing. But Iโ€™d also say that itโ€™s inaccurate to state that โ€œcombat simsโ€ ignore the โ€œrealismโ€ in the features you mentioned. In fact, itโ€™s all the time that Iโ€™ve spent in the DCS warbirds that have made the A2A and MSFS warbirds so easy for me (relatively easy!). So, yeah, some of the warbirds in MSFS are good, but Iโ€™ve yet to find any that are generally at the level of A2A or DCS. I do hold hope for the FIS Spitfire for 2024 upgrade to further enhance it, but TBH, Iโ€™ve kinda given up on civ sim warbirds for โ€œstudy levelโ€ flying. I do collect the better ones that arenโ€™t available in other sims, as itโ€™s a very nice โ€œdiscoveryโ€ experience, and I appreciate the effort to keep them alive in simulation. ๐Ÿค™
  12. I took quick flights in them both yesterday. The core problem, as you say, is that weโ€™ve experience with the Crรจme de la Crรจme addons in other sims (and Iโ€™ll definitely add A2Aโ€™s warbirds to that). So, yeah, these end up falling short relative to those. HOWEVER, I do feel like theyโ€™re a very good experience for those who only fly MSFS. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿค™
  13. @Daube Well, the good news is that Belatu reports it does actually work fine in v2024 except for some โ€œminorโ€ things that simply donโ€™t exist in v2020 (walk around, etc). ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ Now, Iโ€™m OCD enough that itโ€™s still a No Go for me if thereโ€™s no โ€œfree upgradeโ€* to v2024. even better, he says the physics are top tier (something he doesnโ€™t say too often). Overall, Iโ€™ve yet to find a helo review of Belatuโ€™s where Iโ€™d feel like he steered me wrong. ๐Ÿค™ The only thing I find overtly disappointing is the lack of ANY radio nav other than ADF(!). From DCS Russian helos, I do realize thatโ€™s genuinely a thing, but still, at least an optional 430 would be greatly appreciated (ร  la Just Flight ๐Ÿ˜) * I normally donโ€™t care about free updates, but only if Iโ€™ve gotten use in the original sim. I just donโ€™t fly v2020 any longer, soโ€ฆ
  14. Havenโ€™t flown it in ages, but the FIS Spitfire is quite well regarded - used as a trainer for IRL Spitfire flying!
  15. Iโ€™m fairly confident there are a โ€œfewโ€ more of us left than just some hundreds ๐Ÿ˜Ž if we are to conservatively believe Asobo, there might be as many as 10,000,000 MSFS โ€œactiveโ€ players (or moreโ€ฆ!). Spreading that math out means there likely at least 150,000 P3D playersโ€ฆ? Given the extremely small sample size, and obvious (unavoidable) skews in the data, it could even be significantly higher. ๐Ÿ˜Ž The only sad thing is that it does seem to be a steadily declining number, thoโ€ฆ
  16. Yep - Iโ€™ve seen reporting that the 2024 version will be a separate purchase, implying no upgrade path(?). If so, Iโ€™ll have to wait for v2024 or clarification. Even then, itโ€™d have to be a free upgrade to v2024 simply because I no longer fly in v2020. ๐Ÿค™
  17. Pump up your Rolling Cache (there is no limit other than disk space), and Install/Download the WUs, et al, and at least your favorite aircraft. Really very similar to v2020, and the end results are superior (if 2024 wasnโ€™t materially better, I wouldnโ€™t fly it) ๐Ÿค™
  18. Yep - I think that โ€œminimum acceptable rather than desiredโ€ is the knee knocker for many folks. ๐Ÿค™ I pretty much never fly over Manhattan, but tested this out the other day as itโ€™s a tough place to maintain performance in every sim Iโ€™ve ever used. It also bypasses my Rolling Cache, etc. Still was able to maintain good performance with just a few micro-stutters (which are inevitable there, IMHO). ๐Ÿค™ Question for you: is there info on how the adjustments are prioritized by the Dynamic settings?
  19. Amen to all points ๐Ÿ™
  20. I was gonna say that Iโ€™ve had good results with the default dynamic settings. It could be that I use a very low minimum FPS of 45 (and I usually see far, far higher), large Rolling Cache, locally installed aircraft, airports, and other scenery. I have most settings set to a combo of High and Ultra, with a few Eye Candyโ€™s set to Medium/Low. Good results with a minimum of stutters in dense locales ๐Ÿค™
  21. If you get the blurries as described, you need to make use of Rolling Cache and significantly increase its size on disk. ๐Ÿค™
  22. Sometimes it seems unreliable in terms Of seeing that thereโ€™s updates available. But at least itโ€™s never hosed an install for me across 3 different addons! ๐Ÿ˜
  23. I still have v11 installed, with (because of) the TBM and I can barely stand launching it. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  24. Austinโ€™s losing a LOT of my money! ๐Ÿ˜‰ While folks like to bash the MS Marketplace, Iโ€™m finding it incredibly convenient to use vs keeping up with all the individual developers updates and such. Iโ€™ll agree with the desire for a somewhat higher level of curation than the MSMP offers, tho.
  25. This had occurred to me later on specifically in relation to XP and that the survey DOUBLED its sample size this time. Thanks for bringing it up! ๐Ÿ™ and congrats on Challenger continuing on with such a high level of success!!๐ŸŽ‰ p..s.: howโ€™s the TBM coming along ๐Ÿ˜‰
