Hi all, Was asked to create this small guide, so here goes... 🙂 I took advice from this excellent post from @micstatic here. This "registry trick" is for installing (un-updated) addons into Prepar3D v6. In theory, this can be used for any version of Prepar3D, but I'm gonna be focused on Prepar3D v6, and tricking addons into thinking that Prepar3D v5 is installed. I’m posting this as a temporary solution to the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error in P3D v5. I have had no repetition of this error since adding the following entries to the Registry. I’m grateful to @srcookefor his help with this. It should be stated this was done with 471.96 drivers. I have stayed with these despite later ones becoming available. Before making any changes to your Registry make a backup. There is plenty of guidance on the web how to do it. As with all these things you do this at your own risk. Start RegEdit. My procedure to adjust airports for v5 goes as follows: Prerequisite: While Prepar3D.exe is running, you can´t usually change scenery files already in use. There are two methods. Working with two directories and always loading one or the other to try updated files or an unlocker. I use IObit Unlocker 1.1 to unlock sceneries from Prepar3D.exe while it is running. Note, version 1.2 doesn´t work anymore. In the sim go into menu and select World, "Scenery Library" and unckeck, check any available scenery (all from scenery.cfg). I have updated to 5.3 today and everything seems nice, so far. Except that the EA night sky is gone. With EA enabled i can see the old, legacy night sky with it´s unrealistic white dots as stars. Anybody else noticed this?

Message when loading flight "P3D has detected non sequential layer within the scenery library list."

P3D sits at 1.5%. I wonder how many simmers that actually means. Of course that is based on how many entries they received and I don't think they list how many they got? Ooops, I see there were 42,000 respondents. That leaves 630 of us left in P3D! 😪

Strange problem that started last weekend so possibly connected to Windows update. The title bar in v5 shows by default. To remove it I just press the ALT key. But it stays there. I have to right click the background and then select the option to hide it. Anyone else seeing this?

I think this question sits better here than in a hardware forum since it is specific to Prepar3D and gamepads all have the same generic type of configuration (due to practical limitations I use a standard layout gamepad for Prepar3D since my cockpit setup is actually for race simming). It works absolutely fantastically for every aircraft I have (I have a different controller configuration file for each one) except for the one glider I have. Like all gliders it has spoilers but they are at the "mercy" it seems of the Prepar3D controller configuration limitations. In other words, if you do not have a spare controller axis for the spoilers, so far as the default options…

This may be a silly question considering how old super traffic board is, but does anyone know is it is compatible with FSHUD? I’m not able to ask on the super traffic board forums as I believe it has been shut down for a while now.

In the avsim library there is a scenery for Newquay airport (EGHQ). It is a P3Dv4 scenery, but I wanted to try it out in P3Dv5.4. It did work in P3Dv5.4 but I didn't like it that much, so I uninstalled it. The scenery had SODE files for runway lights and some other things. Now after I uninstalled the scenery I went to the default Newquay airport and there are red X's where the custom SODE things was. Since I deleted the scenery why is there SODE red X's at the default scenery? How do I get rid of them? Edit: The scenery filename is Newquay_Airport__EGHQ.zip

Hello all, I am trying to install AIG AI traffic. As a couple of models it relies on reside on flightsim.com (now offline for who knows how long), namely the Fruit Stand models, I cannot install. I am wondering if anyone might have the aircraft folders they'd be kind enough to zip and share with me? I believe they the Fruit Stand models are the A380 and 777 variants. For example, in my AIGAIM - OCI\SimObjects folder, there is the following placeholder folders to put a model in: AIGAIM_TFS_B777-300ER. By the look of it, they are all start with AIGAIM_TFS... I have a couple of Aerosoft sceneries that were made for P3Dv4 that were not updated for v5+, I would like to install them into P3Dv5+ (I have fixes for almost all of them so they will work in v5). Can someone explain the me step by step how to do that? When I try to install them into v5.4 the installer asks for the P3Dv4 path, and I don't have P3Dv4 anymore.

Sometime ago I completely removed Onedrive from the registry so it didn't exist. After the latest Windows upgrade Onedrive has returned as a hidden folder. and transferred most of my files to it. Result is P3d airplane config files are not installing in the folder in the c folder.

Don't ask what I changed, i don't know it. After the startup from Chaseplane i can pan arount in the cockpit in a usable speed. After a few seconds moving around, the speed decreases rapidly and even begins to stutter. This way it is not possible to fly visual appraoches on runways. Also changing settings makes it work again and after a few moves, it becomes sluggish again. I reinstalled Chaseplane from ORBX. I reset all settings. I don't have Windows Game Mode enabled. I excluded both Chaseplane EXE files from AV Defender. I googled and found only results of Problems from 2017 to 2020, which did not help me further. Does anybody …

I decided to try out Nvidia RTX Dynamic Vibrance to see what it would look like. I am not sure if I like it or not. I think it is because I am so used to what my sim looks like without Nvidia RTX Dynamic Vibrance on. Anyone else using RTX Dynamic Vibrance? How do you like it? Here is a screenshot. What do you think? This is the default C-130 at Fly Tampa's Athens Greece scenery. From what I read in order to use RTX Dynamic Vibrance you need to turn off the HRD and auto exposer setting within P3D. Also make sure you enable windows HDR but turn off auto HDR in your windows settings.

Will Flysimware's Learjet 35A and the Falcon 50; and, RealityXP GNS and GTN avionics work in P3Dv5.3? I've read somewhere way back when, and I'm now under the impression that P3Dv5.3 has less issues and generally the better choice compared to P3Dv5.4. Is this true? I plan to run just the two planes above primarily with Orbx sceneries I had from P3D v4.5. EDIT: How do I obtain copies of Milviz's PC-6 and C-310? I bought these in years past and I was able to log-in to their forums but I don't see a link to download these two planes.

I'm running it on Windows 10, using an i7-8700k cpu, a 3060 ti gpu, and 32 gb of ram. Only one small payware airport and one payware GA aircraft. No other add-ons. What am I missing? Do I need to use nvidia inspector or something similar? Thank you.

Brand new issue - Suggestions please..... I have the same rig as I have used for a number of years with no issues. Running P3dV5.4 with no issues as of last Friday (Mar. 27th). This morning I start up P3d and it loads the scenery (can see the progress bar) then no splash screen and then blank. It does not open the Scenario screen (my default). The strange thing is, Task Manager shows it is running, using 6.1% of the CPU and 441.6MB of memory. I downloaded an old scenery package for Greater Kankakee Airport KIKK which the readme advised needs various freeware object libraries to work correctly. WHAT YOU NEED: Library Files - You may be able to save some search and download time by downloading and installing the following files.
