FPS PMDG 737 versus iFly 737 Max

Featured Replies

I have noticed that the PMDG seems to get about 15% more FPS than the iFly. Has anyone noticed this? I searched on Google, and nobody seems to have posted a comparison between these two 737s.

I'd say they're close for sure... if I had to pick one, I'd say the PMDG 737 is the slightly better performer. Overall, they both perform well though.

I'd say i don't bother with checking with fps, don't know why the obsession is with it. Got better things to do than chasing around in circles in gaining that extra 1 to 5 fps 🙂

The PMDG 737 is performing a bit better, but the ifFly isn‘t far off. The PMDG 737 is generally considered the best performing (bigger) airliner. But there‘s a reason: Textures are low res in some places in the the VC (saves on VRAM -> better performance) and on the external model, and obviously there‘s no cabin.
Considering how good the iFly looks, I‘d take the slightly worse performance any day.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

The PMDG is a 'native' app, wouldn't that make a difference?

I agree. Don't understand why so many folks get caught up on frame rates. Both models work and fly very well. Can't wait to get both in 2024.

I can't say that I have seen any obviously low resolution textures in the VC of my PMDG 737-600.

737 has a cabin, why do you think it doesn't? Just walk through the cockpit door...  It's not as high res as the 777 cabin but it's absolutely there.  I have multiple camera views in the cabin.

What low res textures in the cockpit?

I bought the Max (iFly), since I was tired of flying the NG while using P3D. Very smooth performance of the Max in MSFS2020 for me. I'm using Lossless Scaling.

I only fly the Ifly version now. Don't  really care about the fps.

It's not enough of a concern to warrant any babble

FPS is like money, people concerned about it don't tend to have any.

Unless they have counterfeit money, aka Frame Generation!  I can't stand visual issues associated with FG so FPS does matter here.

I felt the same way until I tried Lossless Scaling. On my Radeon it bumps the fps up to my monitor's refresh of 165 hz and there are no visual issues whatsoever.

Great, are there any issues whatsoever with LS, for NV 4000 series?
