Since MS/ASOBO is using MeteoBlue as their weather/environmental source, I thought that I would mention just a few of the amazing possibilities this partnership *could* give the user base. This is an extremely powerful/accurate/detailed source of real-time weather data. I’ll go step-by-step through a number of different products they offer and relate it to what it could mean for the sim. Keep in mind, some of this is just speculation. We don’t know whether MS/ASOBO has modeled wave directions, for instance. But, we do know they use MeteoBlue, and that this data is available to them if they so choose. This is just a small taste of what the system is capable of. …

It has been mentioned in a few different threads that a tool like FSUIPC may not be needed in MSFS. Well, I for one sure hope Pete or John Dowson do make a version of FSUIPC available for MSFS if the new SDK, etc., makes that feasible. And I will be happy to buy the new FSUIPC. Besides providing very convenient access to many of the sim's parameters and aircraft Lvars, the Lua scripting capability provided by FSUIPC is a powerful and very useful tool. For example, I like to minimize use of the mouse as much as possible for repetitive functions, and it is through the FSUIPC Lua scripting (programming) capability that I'm able to do things like enter headings, cours…

Has there been any excitement among members of this forum around Flight Simulator 2020? I just recently stumbled across it on Google, and it looks very interesting. (VERY interesting!) From reading the articles and watching the trailers, this looks like it could be the best follow-on to Flight yet. It combines Bing 3D and Azure technology from Microsoft to create stunningly accurate graphics, around the world. You can fly over your own house. There is no release date announced yet, but I will be watching very closely.

So none of the branding I've seen posted online and that worn by the dev team in videos shows Flight Simulator 2020 even though they've said it'll be out some time next year. So this got me thinking, is this because we won't have 2 year release cycles for Flight Simulator anymore? Sort of like how Windows 10 was the last Windows version and MS now focus on delivering incremental features every few months for different parts of the OS. Maybe we'll see a similiar strategy with the new FS?

https://www.lanacion.com.ar/tecnologia/hablan-creadores-del-flight-simulator-2020-nid2318927 Partial translation: Lots of good info in here. I thinks the best part of it was finally getting confirmation that MSFS won't have a mandatory subscription for streaming capabilities! The translation was done by someone on FB so I welcome anyone to make corrections as necessary.

I sure hope there is something like the FS Nav like in FS9, It is so nice while on a flight having a full page map that has everything Freq on it and ILS Course Degrees and ATIS, AWOS. Way points. My fave is while on a flight you see an intresting looking airport you can see the name and fly into it later. Best part it dose not pause the sim while looking for all the things mentioned.

For guys like me who can perfectly live with NILL autogen, or at most airports only, I would really like to have a option to continue interacting with weather and air traffic feeds without having to get streamed scenery areas. This way I could still profit from other services ( online ) without the burden - for my really slow home net - to have to experience streaming while "flying"...

Almost everything shown up to now looks incredibly good in FS2020. I hope MS is aiming for the product up to the high standards in every aspect with no important features being omitted. What often gets neglected, and has always been low priority of all the sims up to now, is ATC and Traffic, and ESPECIALLY their integration. Seems like every developer of FS looses steam at certain point, having thrown so much resources on other aspects, that these two ALWAYS come last and somehow get neglected badly and are left for the third party to patch it up (which never truly happens). Can we do things right this time MS and Asobo and finally do a proper job with no slacking in this…

pcgames.de has two articles that I believe nobody translated yet (maybe due to copyright reasons, don't know). The originals (in German) are here and here Some of the information in these interviews (that I have not seen mentioned here) are, for instance: The first alpha test has approx. 2000 players. They can currently announce 8 to 9 aircraft manufacturers in the sim and that would not even be half of what they have in the sim. Out of 250 companies who are creating addons, they are in contact with 60-70 of them [this number we knew already] and they are already giving feedback for the SDK. When increasing the simulation speed, as the textu…

after reviewing all officially released videos, I haven't noticed any shimmering like what I saw in other sim official videos, is it due to new rendering engine/technique, good video drivers/profiles if any or a combination of both?

I know I should be ashamed of myself....I've been simming since it began over 25 years ago. I should have LEARNED how to use an FMS system on aircraft where it's available, but I haven't. I have 2 Master's Degrees and have owned my own business (retired now), but something about taking the time to learn how to use an FMS system has eluded me. Perhaps after the new year, I'll try again. Some of the greatest available planes out there require you to use an FMS navigation system. Question: Will the new planes in MSFS 2020 have default (easy to use) navigation systems like the GPS? Stan

Hi all, I hope fs2020 will include the ability to open all the doors, windows, see ground power, chocks, tie downs - all those extra touches that really really add to the immersion. Would be really happy if they have gone to this level of detail for all the default aircraft at launch cheers

Microsoft and Asobo themselves call the product we all look forward to so much "Microsoft Flight Simulator" and use the abbreviation "MSFS", as can be seen in their latest Development Update: So why are people making up their own names for it? I've seen things like MSFS2020, MFS20 and even FS2020 or FS20, the latter standing for Farming Simulator 20. There is no need to put "20" or "2020" in the name because nobody uses the name "MSFS" when talking about the legacy products FSX or older. And it makes no sense because the developers already stated that this sim is an at least 10-years-project so it will still be the current sim in 202…

Here's something I've thought of in the past, but it just occurred to me again with a commercial I saw on tv. It has always been easy to add objects on the ground, but very hard to dig down, to show holes, trenches (or the commercial was showing the 9/11 memorial. It would be interesting if there was a way to do that.

I liked FSX missions, but when you finish them, that's it. What kept me in FSX (and then buying addons), specially when core sim technology was getting older, was good context-immesion like what fspassanger/fscaptain provided. It would be nice some basic implementation of Pilot Career/jobs system like FSW was doing.

December 12th, 2019 – Development Update Thank you /u/horse—-1899, your memes do not go unnoticed! MEDIA UPDATE We’ve posted some new screenshots in the Insider Area. Head inside to check them out! PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT SERIES UPDATE We visited Cubcrafters with François, one of the pilots and aircraft aerodynamicists from our team, to go over the XCub’s simulation. We fine tuned the engine’s power curve and adjusted the aircraft’s mass distribution and control surface limits and were able to get a very realistic handling. We also improved the prop wash effect on the tail in order to get a more realistic power on handling, especia…

Hi Asobo and Microsoft, Apologies if this has been covered but one thing that would be great and to some extent is already in P3D and FSX is rain and snow effects. It would be good to see wet runways when its raining and associated spray and wet runway looks as well as snowy runways or surroundings at least when it has been snowing, in the UK with Real Time Weather some months would show snow. The East Coast of USA most often in the Winter has snow storms and airports closed, so it would be realistic and good to see weather effects i.e snow and rain on the ground taxiways and runways as well as if an airport has closed in reality then it can be closed in the sim if …

If you look under Forum on the Insider page, it says "public forum coming soon" Just wondered if the Alpha testers have a separet forum where they can post they're observations, bugs etc.or how does that work? I can't see why it would break the NDA if they tell how they're communicating with MS/Asobo, but if it does, then just ignore this post 🙂

May be too early for even the devs to know, but I wonder if they are going to go down the same path as so many other game devs these days with releasing a more expensive "deluxe", and "Collectors" edition? Ughh. Didn't that happen with FS9? I think I recall seeing my collectors tin in the garage.

For us simmers? No. We are not their major target, at most. We are not worth the mammoth investment. They are using this to push the new Xbox sales and to lure the game pass subscribers. It's huge. The new MSFS will become the most attractive bait for general players who will curiously (and proudly) make the bite (but not really playing it). To create this big bait Microsoft has to make it as shining, "serious", and "professional" as possible. Thus benefit the simmers. See, everybody is happy.
