In Fsx, I loved having a flight planner in there, because when you "virtually" filed "saved" your flight plan, ATC, knew where and what you were going to do, and similar to your iPad with foreflight, would get "uploaded" to your GPS. MY lord was that great. Unlike xplane where you need to create your plan in both places. I really hope that's the er um... plan

  2. Anyone else seeing (or not to be more accurate) this? The first 3 images I had cached in my browser, but the rest were not showing. After a force refresh (CTRL - F5) none of them load. Tried this on 4 different browsers across 3 different servers each in different locations. These are the large images (typically screenshots) that are set as the background image at the top of the screen. Trying to browse manually to one of the image locations brings a 301 redirect back to the main page. edit: I found it rather interesting that they are using WordPress....

  3. Dear MS/Asobo team, If you are reading this request can you tease "us" (some of the simmers in regions SA and Caribbean), with some screenshots or video on how our side of the world will render in your awesome sim please? I will be happy with anything from this region but my preference goes to: Caribbean - (St. Maarten, Curacao, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Dom. Rep) South America- (Colombia, Venezuela) or maybe Panama, Costa Rica etc. I'm sure fellow simmers from this region would have their own wishlist and will join me in this petition. Thank you I'm most impressed on what you are doing with the sim. regards. Adino

Only 3rd party development partners will have access to the SDK in which they will be able to create and edit airports, sceneries, planes and missions. Do they mean the early SDK or the final SDK ? I sure hope that all the simming community will be able to design stuff according to known specs and have bridges to add their creations to the sim. This has been so far and still should be unseparable from the flying experience. Looking forward to some clarification here.

I want to buy add-on scenery but maybe I'll wait for this. Don't want to waste money buying something I'll only use less than 6 months.

Hi Microsoft & ASOBO, Not sure if this will get traction, but I am just bigging up Kevin Miller AKA Gibbage1 here on Avsim and YOUTUBE. He has worked as an artist on most professional flight simulators including FSX (ACES Team) and FLIGHT, his video on 25th June nailed all of the tech that you guys have recently confirmed i.e Photogrammtry, Hero Assets (I.E needing to make handmade large landmarks i.e Seattle Space Needle), Bridges will be a challenge to do although not impossible due to tech used. Just thought he would be a good resource even if its for testing! Blessings Duncan Odgers

Here's something I never even thought of before. Today I was setting up to make a flight out of San Fransisco. As I started my takeoff roll, I noticed my flaps were up, I thought I had set them while on the taxiway. So I tried to extend them. They didn't move. I aborted the takeoff, cut the throttle and slammed on the brakes...no response. Ack! I was able to slow the plane down and pull onto the last taxiway, but there was no way to contact the tower to tell them I had aborted the takeoff.

Just wondering if there have been any photos to indicate MSFS uses alternate sources of data besides Bing to generate such items as powerlines, cell/radio/tv towers, and other various obstructions/VFR landmarks? Maybe OpenStreetMaps?

Reading so many good things about this sim and I know this has been covered, I'd like to add a couple small things I hope makes it in the default sim: 1. Serious Contrails - Seeing as with our sims today to get this to look realistic in the sky we need an add-on. The effect can be so much better if it was in the sim by default. Case in point the contrail effect in the real world only happens around the 31,000 to 41,000ft range, they very depending on weather conditions, and the look of the default effort (FSX, FS9) is so much better than the third party solutions. 2. Fly By view in the air - After realizing we can no longer get Active Camera (not sure of ot…

So, let me start by saying that this thread is not asking anyone here to break an NDA. My purpose to this thread, is to see if anyone has heard anything second- or third-hand, about how the alpha client is being received. We are talking very broadly here - "reception is really positive! people are loving it!" or "there have been serious performance/stability issues reported!" etc. I'm just curious if anyone here has heard anything about how it is going, and what the reaction has been. If even asking this is out-of-bounds, then please feel free to close the topic. But I'm hopefully (?) speaking broadly enough here.

I don't know if this topic is useful, but here it is: it brings together most of the questions that arise here, on a regular basis, and for which we have answers. If this topic is useful, I suggest to feed it as we go along, but only with reliable information, confirmed information. i will edit, with information you can give. Quality of the Flight Model : takes into account the parameters of the plane, its surface, and also the pressure, the wind, the passage or not in disturbances. One can for example have a different behaviour from the right wing to the left wing according to these parameters. Can we go back to the default flight model of prev…

Who else has an allergy to the "lit tennis balls" representing Aircraft lights from the distance, in FSX? I do and when I saw it in the latest Feature Discovery Video I was like 😰😰😰😰 I hope Asobo will improve this as their engine can certainly deliver much better light bloom effect from the distance. 😎 Here is what I mean: https://youtu.be/ySEWs6luN7Q?t=340

Howdy So I've always had a vague interest in flight sims but after seeing the previews for the upcoming Microsoft release, my interest is back! Questions on my mind: (i) is there a natural progression of planes to learn? (ii) Which is the best commercial airliner to learn that would give the best overall understanding of ALL the major airliners (big difference between Boeing and Airbus I assume?) (iii) Will Microsoft's flight sim support Bombadier private jets? (iv) Will it support fighter jets? Is that even allowed? (v) How about helicopters? I also have questions about how own goes about home cockpits but I'm sure there are…

The Asobo MSFS team claims that they are able to show the real world air traffic in the sim. That's pretty awesome in terms of the game itself, but... what about time compression? If they're going to implement any time compression, how will the AI traffic behave? Or maybe they will implement the "speed compression" like in X-Plane 11? I don't know, but this should be solved somehow, otherwise very long distance flights will be available for maniacs only.
