Does anyone know if the A320 is at pmdg level? I thought I had read an interview about it, but can't find it.

Apparently John Venema of Orbx is currently listed as a 3rd Party dev and is assigned to a 3rd Party Developers Group with a few others on MSFS forum. He also has access to Tech Alpha 1. Quite interesting as they havent made any official announcement yet. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/u/waxycloud394345/summary You can view the complete list of 3rd party devs here https://forums.flightsimulator.com/g/GRP_KH_ALPHA_DEV_19

I think it would be cool if they used some of the technology MS has in house with Cortana and applied it to the ATC in the sim so that you could speak with the ATC in a natural voice and have it understand you. I like VATSIM and IVAO but you usually have to fly at peak times to get decent ATC coverage so it would be great if the ATC on top of having support for SID/STAR/holding patterns etc. supported voice recognition.

Looking at the latest screenshots, I am starting to have a few doubts about some of the ground textures, in particular mountains, they seem very FSX-like, with poor texture definition. I wonder what the texture resolution is, at its lowest, and whether they are taking any of this directly from FSX or whether 'everything' in the sim is truly satalite/aerial imagery. as suggested. In the trailers, some mountain regions seem almost photographically real, but others, like in the latest shots, very generic. For me, mountainous area, lakes and busch is where this new sim should really shine and I certainly hope it does, so that not all depends again or 3rd party dev…

Folks, wanted to make a quick flight since months in my FSX Steam and saw below message (which I cannot add as pic) but it reads as follow: "New beta branch available on Steam! We've released a new beta branch for FSX that will help us gain valuable new telemetry data that will help us in the development of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you are interested..." (underlined by me) FSX on Steam is Dovetail, any idea whether they really refer to MSFS20 here? Or could it be that MS really wants to gain data through FSX Steam? Or does DT also develop something new? Wouldn't believe that. Phil

A question to the developers... I've seen it mentioned somewhere here that the user will need a minimum download speed of 25Mbps to ensure the sim runs smoothly. What I would like to know is whether that is dependent on the IAS of the aircraft. All we have seen so far are single prop aircraft flying around 150kts or thereabouts at relatively low altitudes. Would someone flying an aircraft at 250kts below 10,000ft require a faster download speed? Logically it would seem so. And if that's the case what would it be? To push things to extremes if I'm flying Concorde over unpopulated land at Mach 2 covering 20nm a minute 50,000ft up what would the requirements b…

At first I was very pleased When I received an Email that I was inside the Tech Alpha 1 pool. Thursday night I received an Email with Instructions on how to get access to Tech Alpha 1 and did everything exactly as instructed. After I downloaded 3GB of data there was a button with “Play“ and When I press that button nothing happens. The flight simulator simply does not start. I have Now tried 2 days to get it going with all the tricks from google and youtube but it just doesn't work. It also says “An administator has to approve the installation. What??? I have all admin rights on my PC what should I do now to start this simulator? I wrote to the support that was in the Ema…

Following upon what we've all seen so far (it looks amazing), will AI behave like actual air traffic? How possible is it that MSFS have AI perform a proper pushback off stand, follow a SID/STAR maintain holding patterns and separation?

Hi FS2020 team! A feature I really like from the a2a aircraft in p3d is the cockpit temperature reading they provide you. It adds immersion by giving meaning to the cockpit heating and air conditioning systems. This seems like a relatively simple addition that hopefully you would consider including. Cheers Tom

Because there's not much news here right now, something technical for you 😉 We know FS2020 uses 2PB Data for the whole earth, but how many are 2PB? if you think thats alot, then check out Global Steam Traffic Map Germany had 21,6PB downloads the last 7 days and the US had 75,6PB downloads in the last 7 days. In 2018 Steam delivered 15 billion gigabytes of data, That's 15 Exabytes Valve says its network capacity is also growing 50 percent year over year 😅 Some more Info, Steam deployed new SQL Servers now with 2.7 petabytes of FAST solid state storage. now i think i can live with 2PB 😁

Saw this thread over on Guy claims he received an email about his forum account being approved and was granted access to what you see below, then shortly after, it disappeared again and his account was deactived. Bit of speculation but take it with a grain of salt, of course.

We all know that the new simulator is going to use Bing maps for scenery, however if you go to Bing maps right now, there are areas that are using imagery from 2010-2011. For example Istanbul's new airport is just a pit in a construction site, Doha Hamad is half-way through construction and most of the areas around the region there are using outdated imagery as well. Europe and the Americas seem to be updated. How will the simulator update the imagery to make it current?

As a change from the myriad of purely speculative posts that have been published here since the announcement of MS Flight Simulator, I thought I’d try to address something a little more serious. Sadly my comments will doubtless lead to some more speculation; I might even speculate a tad myself. Let’s see how this goes….. One of the subjects that has not attracted too much comment yet has been the subject of SimConnect. To all professional developers and me (an amateur developer) this is an incredibly important topic, so here are some of my thoughts. For those who are not aware of what SimConnect is I’ll explain simplistically.: SimConnect is a low-level cli…

A member of a closed facebook group of MSFS was fortunate enough to try MSFS at X019. He also uploaded his screens of him simming at their booth. So its legit. This is what he posted: MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2020 review and opinion So today I was fortunate enough to be invited down to XO19 and given a complimentary ticket (thanks to the team if they’re loitering I’m this group) Below I have summed up 8 main points and my overall opinion of what I went for, which was to get my hands on Microsoft flight simulator 2020. Bare in mind I am no mainstream reviewer and I don’t write but find my own experience of the sim below and points I took away…

It would great to show us in the next media update how the AI interprets the sat imagery and your artists render small airports, from a shack with a rusted ironsheet roof along a dirt strip to the half dozen hangars of a GA airfield. With the equipment clutter. Also will they be « localized » to have an Asian or African flavor ? Merci à l’avance 😉 !

As the title implies, which default airports would you like to see as detailed by default? The poll is limited to 20 choices. I have put 20 of the most popular airports in the poll. However, please list any other airport you would like to see (max of 5) in the comments. Everything that is not in the poll, will be kept track of below. I will keep a more official tally on this post and update it regularly. Don't be afraid to repeat airports, that will help with the tally. If I react to your post, your vote has been counted and updated into the master tally list. Here is the tally so far: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/167auC2yLGnS4D4P4IJ1gV23ojNdZ…

Aside from the big things that we've been discussing, I hope someone over at Asobo can remember the little details that kill the wow factor in our current options. Some examples include having good looking contrails, and some that remain in the sky and turn to wisps. How about realistic effects such as spray during takeoff and landing. Maybe some fog over the wings while flying through clouds? Deicing fluid and effects? Other little things that bug me are how unrealistic ground services really are, even with the help of things like GSX and Better Pushback. They also move aircraft very slowly compared to RW operations. Good tools, but we can do better I think. How …
