Scenery and weather look fantastic but.... what about 1. Multiplayer via Vatsim and vPilot type clients? If MS only servers then this is a no-go for me. 2. I have (and many others as well) thousands of dollars of hardware run through fsuipc. Will fsuipc work with this platform? If not, another showstopper. 3. Various other programs such as simserver for RemoteCDU, simacars, TrackIR, etc... Will any of that work.... People are seeing the scenery and not thinking of much else. There are many things that, for me, need to happen for this to replace P3D. Ya, it looks nice but not at the cost of losing the ability to forgo all above stuff.

Has anything already been said about turboprop modeling? It was one very weak point in FSX. Only a few developers tried to tackle it: Milviz improved the free turbine PT-6 in their Pilatus PC-6, Turbo Otter and in the upcoming King Air. Majestic created the fantastic Dash-8. PMDG even made a geared TPE 331 for their JS-41. If I remember it right, they described the stock FSX turboprop model as "hopelessly broken". Michael

To the devs, I know you're working hard, doing everything you can. I would love to see tons of aircraft come with the product as defaults so users have a lot of choice. We have seen many already in the promotional videos, and there have been hints you are working with other partners to produce more, which is great news for users. I hope you will consider including a 737 as well for us users to enjoy. Thanks for your efforts, looking forward to the results!

Default airports are going to be so critical for me, as Microsoft have stated there will be around 48,000 airports (if memory serves me correct). I really hope they're appealing enough to where I don't rely exclusively on payware airports anymore. I know the face of the buildings won't be accurate, but much of the rest can and hopefully will be. Payware developers can enhance default with accurate terminal buildings, sound effects, clutter, and so forth. After so many years of bland default, I'm hoping this sim makes default airports much more inviting.

I recall from earlier discussion that the Beech Bonanaza G36 was believed to be in MSFS 2020: Has anyone been able to confirm or refute that one yet? I've been hearing lately that they're expecting a more limited plane set on launch, and from the ones we've seen, the higher performance GA slots seem to be pretty well filled out without it. If it's not, I'm sure a 3rd party will field one, (A2A V35....?) but would be good to know if ones going to make it into the release. Thank you, Harry Voyager

https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-wants-to-bring-back-flight-simulator-to-show-it-supports-pc/ Couple quotes: "Flight Sim was a game in our past that sold millions and millions of units and had a very, very passionate community—in fact, they're still out there," says Spencer. Spencer says that 2 petabytes of geographical data is used to seamlessly stitch together Earth. Spencer warned the team: "You're going to have to put at the bottom that it's in-game, because nobody is going to believe that's in the game."

Watching the latest Insider video on aerodynamics and the amount of reconstruction that has gone into the FS engine has made me realise that us armchair pilots are really going to have to (re) learn how to fly! It also answered some of those nagging questions about fps, better integration so even slower systems will not notice any drop in frames. MS really have pushed the boat out on this and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! All in all it's Simply the Best.

Hi, While you revel in all this excitement and eager anticipation, can I ask everyone to spare a thought for those 3rd Party Developers who have served us so well over the years and who are currently feeling beleaguered as a direct consequence of Microsoft’s aggressive marketing of ASOBO’s new sim. If we have valued their contribution to our hobby then the least we can do in return by way of a thank you is to continue providing our support and encouragement to continue through what could prove to be a very difficult period ahead. The situation is summed up well by this excellent post: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/564138-be-careful-what-you-wish-for-a-…

A couple of versions back (was it FS-2000?) Microsoft told us that the sim now included all airfields in the world, some 20,000+ of them. We've been told the new one will have 40,000+. Why the difference? Have that many new airfields sprung up in the last 20 years?

As the title. Avsim doesn't own the rights to be the arbiter of Microsoft's new Flight Simulator - due for release in 2020. Microsoft - take note. The Thread "What We want" was an on-going discussion, discourse and evolutionary process - by which MS read the info, we digested, modified and gave voice to the things that we really want to see in this exciting new sim. Why would you shut this down Mod - what did anyone say that was "wrong"?

X02019! At X019, we’re thrilled to reveal many of the great aircraft manufacturers we are partnering with to make Microsoft Flight Simulator the most realistic flight simulation yet. As you saw in our new trailer, we have a broad range of aircraft, including commercial airliners, business jets, and general aviation aircraft, all from the most renowned manufacturers. The breadth of partnerships we have forged for the next generation of Microsoft Flight Simulator goes far beyond what was done for previous titles. We are determined to make this sim, and all of its components, as authentic as possible. The aircraft partnerships we’re a…

@Mods Ok to sticky this one? @Community if you aren't a dev, freeware or commercial, please keep out 🙂 . I'll head the list with: Render target access to 3D model textures for everything from dynamic texture effects, glass cockpit displays, and digital signs. IR and radar camera simulation (@MSFS Team: any questions on pulling this off, feel free to PM me to get my email and I can give some technical suggestions) Far more freedom to overwrite, or even replace sim variables (especially 6DOF velocities and accelerations and engine parameters) without the sim fighting back. Access to terrain and vector data for glass cockpit map displays, custom TA…

I'm going to go ahead and say it loud because I'm sure everyone is thinking about this : MSFS official website is absolute garbage. And they need to FIX that asap. I'm sorry to say that because MSFS does look unbelievable, but the website : no, no, no MS you're doing it wrong. You're not doing justice to the software dev team. This is not even about the layout which is "mkay", it could be more readable, THIS IS ABOUT THE LOADING SPEED. C'mon, when I type "https://www.flightsimulator.com/" I can go grab a coffee outside and come back before I get a rendering response on the browser. PageSpeed Insights score : 32, I think a score lower than 90 is unacceptab…

One of the biggest let downs of the current sims is every place feels the same. The same looking cities, the same looking landscape. The same buildings and textures. Sure we can load an area with ortho, but that's one area of photo scenery with poorly placed 3d buildings. Seeing all the videos of the different cities below has made me realise how cool would it be planning an around the world trip (with the limited time i have to play it would probably take months to complete) Short hops, long hops across the oceans. Going to different countries will actually feel like it now, all with default scenery! Watch "Microsoft Flight Simulator: 9 Beautiful Cities…

All of these are just my take on what's known so far. Pure speculation before anyone says "that's just speculation". 😀 1) Aircraft will be much easier to develop. With a good built-in physics model, and out-the-box rain and icing effects, there will be less or no custom code to write. Creating an aircraft will mainly be 3D modelling, texture and animation work and setting parameters for the physics engine to use. 2) The included aircraft will be very good and 3rd party versions of those will be a hard sell. I can see the default 747 being excellent quality and meeting many people's needs. 3) People will be slightly disappointed with non-photogrametry citi…

We see, from time to time, questions about interesting flights to make. At least, the two past threads below proposed some. There are, without any doubt, more that I have forgotten but the information gets lost in the never ceasing flow of a forum. Maybe we should concentrate on one thread only (wishful thinking, I should know better 😏). So feel free to add any flight you think worth to fly in the new sim here.

I am a kindred spirit who has been flight simming since fs9. I have almost every flight sim available to me and in its last iteration, my computer had xp 11, fsx steam and p3d. All of which I have spent thousands of dollars on, over the years. In my new pc I will have multiple cores and a gtx 1080 with 8 gig of ram, assisting in the rendering. Has there been any indication from the Developers, whether the code will support multiple core processors and utilise them for enhanced performance?

In the Seasons topic I mentioned that if XPlane 11 engine can handle dynamic seasons, MSFS certainly can. Some are still thinking in terms of texture switching like ESP. This is obsolete in modern engines... So below, is a rough and quick video I recorded showing XEnviro plugin settings... I went to a region where it snowed yesterday here in Canada and when the flight loaded, the plugin automatically rendered the snow coverage with snow falling, all this from the loaded weather data. But then using the settings we can override the ground coverage (seasonal effect) using the slider as shown in the video. Same goes for the Fall season, it turns any …

I've not seen much input from the cockpit-building community in any of the 'what we want' threads, but there are a few things that our small group needs above all else. Of course, I realise we're a minority among the wider sim community, but P3D and FSX before it were platforms that we could use effectively because of some basic features of the product, plus the hard work of many add-on developers. Hopefully Microsoft intends the new sim to be such a platform too, for those that need it. My own setup is paltry compared to some of the sims out there - the likes of those that are used for Worldflight - so I can't pretend to know everything every cockpit builder needs …

If it is one thing I would appreciate (if possible) would be a fix for worldwide time in "real Time".. I currently live in Dubai, and want to plan a flight from, say Sydney to Beijing. Or perhaps from New York to Vienna. I would appreciate it if the time shown is for that flight that I choose, and not have to struggle with figuring out the time in one place and not getting it wrong in the sim, or the change to winter or summer schedules and whatnot. Thanks for your consideration in advance, Waleed Nuseibeh.
