This is the thread for "the others". It is a special place where everything is fluffy and white, even if not volumetric. Feel free to discuss anything that is not cutting edge, is not beautifully created by magicians in western Europe and remember that 1st world problems are real. They might have taken our email, but they will never take our frame-rate.

I wonder how many Alpha Techs there will be before we reach first Beta release. I guess only MS knows( or maybe even they do not know at this time)

It occurred to me that MSFS 2020 with its excellent VFR characteristics would be an excellent way of visiting places by air - that had some educational aspects, and so with this thought in mind, here are two links to online resources that enable some of us to achieve this, by being a stimulus for the reasons to find places to visit. This first link is the google earth in a browser site, where if you click on the dice icon it will randomly transport you to different places around the Earth with different degrees of interest: https://earth.google.com/web/ The next link is the youtube channel of 'worldfromabove' videos that can be quite fascinating to watch…

I was wondering, what could be in this "Development Roadmap" item. What does a partnership constitute? Normally, you would assume that in a partnership the partners contribute to each other. So who would be partners in this respect? Is it only 3PD developers? This CNN article (that someone else posted today) mentions: "But that would depend on partners too -- aircraft manufacturers, data providers, third-party communities, the simmers, and Asobo, ...". So what could we perhaps see in this series of announcements? Could it be that these high-fidelity airports (LAX and SFO) that we have seen so far, were contributed by 3PD developers and that they are only included as …

Hey, I could be wrong about a required subscription (highly unlikely) but i want to dispel this myth that streaming for FS2020 is going to cost MS too much money and force them to charge a monthly sub. Here's what Uncle Phil has to say. Now keep in mind that he's talking about ALL of the games that are going to make use of the system. In the grand scheme of things, MSFS ain't that special. You can stop watching around 3:45 or continue if you haven't seen this interview yet.

I am wondering about the following: The Microsoft 2020 development team said that they are open to input feedback & also suggestions from the community so that they can Incorporate these in the new sim (of course I would imagine depending on the priority and demand of users). They also said that they are regularly looking at forums to see what simmers are posting and asking for...but which forums exactly are they looking at?...here on AVSIM?...elsewhere?... Because I have a couple of suggestions pertaining to things that I would like to see in the new sim...do i post those here on this forum...or elsewhere?...I just want to be sure that those developers…

i like many of you dont have a clue of the pricing on this new sim but look at what we know so far thats going to be included on this sim out of the box and think back in time how much money we had to spend on the past to make the older sims look like what we had seen so far ???? so yes i think new simmers may be saving some $ and a ton of trouble at start . what do you think ?????

Seems a crazy idea, but I have had now more than one situation where I'd like to see such a feature. I think about a complete offline mode. Complete in that way, that the sim itself is NOT running! Take as example a flight over the ocean where I do not have time to sit there for 8 hours or more. Of course there's time acceleration, but even then, you sit there for several hours and even you are not in front of the PCs, the machine have to be running. So, imagine a "offline cloud mode OCM™" 😋 where you start and calculate a flight and then, once at FL, you could switch off the PC. The flight itself is calculated then in the cloud and of course…

Hope the mods don't mind me starting a new topic, I know this has been briefly discussed in the "what we want" topic. But I'm confused... I don't seem to be able to find anything about this from Asobo or MS. Does anybody know what exactly they have confirmed? I've heard it said there will be "no seasons". This seems weird to me. Flight Sim without seasons would be bonkers. It's one of the main features of the sim we know and love. So you download real world weather, which in your location is the middle of the winter, in a heavy snow storm, and you see snow falling but the foliage is as green as a summers day! What! That sounds bonkers to me. Or are t…

Hopefully another ATC topic is allowed otherwise please direct me to another discussion about the new ATC for FS2020 thank you. I personally do think having a built in default ATC for a flight sim is important especially for IFR and airline flying. Most of us I’m sure know the problems with the default FS9 or FSX ATC which is the lack of holds, speed assignments, SIDS/STARS and also unrealistic radar vectoring for instrument approaches. I also would like to see vectoring for departure especially when the SID calls for vectoring to the departure waypoint. The obvious problem with default ATC vectoring is the zig zag vectors which is the result of a lack of wind…

Opening a new field of speculation to the pleasure of our conversation ! Let's see : - MS has been looking for ways to monetize the secondary (DLC) flight simulation market. Flight was a first attempt and disaster because they offered too little for the base game and tried to corner the market ; They say they've learnt from their mistakes then. - MS has a strong policy of acquisition of game studios (nXile, Obsidian, Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games etc.). I wouldn't be surprised to see Asobo enters the fold one day or another. - Our beloved addon developers will presumably be in a not so confortable financial position…

https://www.flightsimulator.com/october-17th-2019-development-update/ THANK YOU On behalf of the entire Microsoft Flight Simulator Team, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation to the community for all the valuable feedback we’ve received from the community on the first episode of the Feature Discovery Series. Though this is only our first step in our collaboration with you, the importance of this step to the team cannot be overstated. For all the feedback, all the effort spent writing comments, asking questions, daring to hold out hope when the past has been littered with unmet expectations. We hear you, and we are going to do our best to keep buildi…

I'm impressed wirh all I've seen to date but most of the aircraft have been GA and speeds are low. What I would like to know is how the simulator can cope with an aircraft capable of supersonic flight. Scenario: FL570 at Mach 2.0 over sparsely populated land such as Northern Canada or Saudi Arabia. At 20 nautical miles a minute can the scenery be depicted quick enough without buffering assuming the user is streaming and has a connection speed > 25Mbps?

Dear Avsim members, I believe that the next Episode will be the most important for all of us here. Stunning visuals(World ep.1, Weather ep.2) is something that Asobo can do without any problems especially with their previous development experience. And Cockpits (ep. 4) it is something that can be easily fixed by 3rd party devs if needed. However the real physics simulation can be tricky and it would be interesting to know how they are dealing with it. Since we know for a fact that they are 'watching' 🙂 let us help them and share what would you like to see in the next episode (Ep.3 'Aerodynamics'). The more specific you get the better. PS. I saw …

Always tried to perform vertical maneuvers but the physics of current simulators do not allow. Will it be possible to simulate the video maneuver below?

With what appears to be a massive increase in visual complexity w/ changes to scenery & weather do we have any idea what performance will look like? The video re weather is very quite choppy if you pay attention and that can't be capture and playback related these days!
