As we know the devs keep an eye on this forum, I hope they will see fit to answer two of the most important questions we have been asking: Will there be ATC included? It is essential for IFR, etc Will there be AI aircraft Essential for realism. There was something mentioned somewhere that there would be "green dots" indicating the location of real world aircraft. Of course, a dot and not a model kills the realism effect, and they will not respond at all to the above mentioned ATC (if included.)

As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft may have all the time they need to produce a good Quality base sim (being a PMDG-customer, I'm used to that anyway) and don't have to commit themselves to a fixed date. It's just SO more satisfying to use a product that actually works the way it should out of the box, than having a product that's constantly in need for major updates to eliminate annoying bugs and gets you irritated along the way. We all still have our current sims to enjoy until then, right? on the other hand, however...I think I would be more than happy with just the pre-alpha version until release date.. 😎

I suppose we all have some ideas where we'd like them to focus their teasers of the first episode of the Discovery series : the World !. Adding them all would cover the globe 😁 ! Let's try to propose two each. I supose everybody wants to see his or her home turf but let's add one left to our imagination, preferably in the boondocks where the present sceneries are poor, to see the difference. I would then request the LFMD hinterland hillsides and Luang Prabang in Laos. Why Luang Prabang : I've been there long ago as ,I guess, some of our older US fellow simmers. The site is splendid. A small Asian town tucked in a narrow valley with a large muddy river flo…

I noticed in the TBM IFR aproach video, that the runway had runway end identifier lights(reils),I wonder if all the different runway approach lighting will be available, such as these,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Approach_lighting_system#Configurations Also it would be great if they could just have the airport rotating beacon only on during IFR conditions during the day. Pilot controlled runway lighting would be great also. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilot-controlled_lighting

I'm one of those that likes to fly everything, and I can see the huge possibilities of bush flying in the new sim. With world sat data we'll have all the bush strips you can ask for (depending on quality coverage of course). I can only imagine what Alaska will be like, and hope to see some shots soon. Landing on sand bars, commuter Twin Otter flights in the Solomons, C208 in PNG, strips in Africa, etc., etc. The mind boggles.

So in the preview we did see a little bit of content in places where you would expect to be Bing satellite imagery that don't have USA quality. Portugal/Sao Paulo/Seoul aren't the kind of places where you would expect the high res quality. Did the Sao Paulo part tell us if there's being used a lot of autogen in those kind of areas? It kind of looked like that. What can we expect for a continent that doesn't have NA imagery like Africa? What can we expect in asia? Easter Europe? Or South America? Is the Bing imagery combined with Azure gonna make it look very accurate? Can we tell that from the part where they showed us Sao Paulo and Seoul?

Well, we've lost Meigs, isn't there anymore in the real world. But was a nostalgic airport for many in the FS Community just because it was the home flight of the sim. So...I thought maybe it would be a nice idea to suggest KRNT (Renton) as the new FS home flight. After all, this already is an historic place in the FS History. As it's the place where Microsoft and the FS Community - quite literally - shook hands and decided to head into the future together in good harmony, with mutual respect. Also, KRNT is by itself a nice airport to start from. When aligned with the runway it feels like a not-to-big local airport. However, when taking off you're suddenl…

The idea has come up several times over various threads. I think it deserves a thread of its own. Asobo cannot ignore that most of us have smartphones and/or tablets. An easy interconnection between the PC and these over wifi would be very much in order, to consult charts or the in-game weather for instance, even for some glass gauges.

A flight simulator is not a regular piece of software, it's a piece of software that has to be future proof, we had to drag FSX into the 2010's even though it had no multicore support, and it was painful. I think the Devs of MFS2020 already made it clear that MFS2020 was going to be fully using our current hardware, but what about in 5-10 years, when 64 cores CPUs might be mainstream, will it take full advantage of this? Now I know what you must be thinking "the sim hasn't even been released, and this guy is already talking about how it will fare in 10 years" True, but it is right now that the SIM is being developed, in 3 years it may not be actively develo…

Good point someone brought up in another thread, but let's expand that... Who's going to keep buying addons, or are you in wait and see mode now. Honestly? If it's a wow factor, I would probably buy it. But its gotta knock my socks off. Like accufeel did for me

I love the updates Microsoft are providing, but I am not sure if it is just me, but sometimes I read their updates and can't really tell what on earth they are on about. Maybe it means more to them internally but if they are so cryptic in their public announcements then it's not so useful to us. What I mean by this is, if you look at the update on Sept 19th, it has "Build Program - Tech Alpha Timeline" - now to me this means a update to tell us what dates the Alpha testing process will take place, we got the update and it says this: Tech Alpha Timeline October 10: Release testing complete. Lock final delivery schedule. October 17: Build release prepa…

Hi Just wondering if anyone knows whether the “streaming scenery” will consider ISP data caps? My connection is reasonably fast (100Mbps) but here in AU a lot of ISPs have data caps of a few hundred GB... if the whole world is petabytes of data then wouldn’t a long haul 14hr flight consume 10s if not 100s of gigabytes? Cheers Alex

This is a question to the ones that were invited to the MSFS reveal in Renton last week. I've seen some of the participants, ie. Froogle mentions that the first place many of them flew were to where they live to see if their house was there (and apparently it was), but where did you go from there? Which places surprised you good or bad, and did you try every continent to see what they looked like? Did anyone try St.Maarten (TNCM), if so, was it one of the places that were less detailed or had it been given the detailed treatment (I hope so). Jlund

Let’s say developer X makes a 777 for the game and put it on the store, will another developer be able to make another 777 and place that on the store too? Remember this game is coming to Xbox, and with Xbox it’s gonna be aimed at casual gamers. Nobody wants to scare them away with a choice of 10 777s and 50 737s and 15 a330s to choose from. I my opinion, if someone makes a specific aircraft for the game, no body else should be able to make another one to put on the store (however they can sell it on their own website). However if a user wants to make some POSITIVE changes to the aircraft that is already on the store, then they should obtain MS permission to do so. …

Since they are only showing slow moving aircraft, and not the F16 let alone a jet airliner, I am suspicious of their reason. Is it to cover the tendency of your CPU to get overloaded if speed is in the equation. I have seen this approach in advertising for earlier pre-releases, and is a good marketing scheme, get them hooked before showing the real life problems Now don't drop the "k" in skeptic to describe my cautious stand on this new candy, which BTW might become a new addiction for some. ( for example...... ME )

I'd like to bring up a point I haven't seen discussed about why Microsoft is not planning to include VR in its initial release of MSFS 2020. We now know that the gorgeous scenery we've been enjoying in all the Microsoft teaser videos will be streamed, via broadband, to end-users of the sim. We also know that there will be a cached mode and an offline mode. But the streaming mode will provide the most flexibility with the highest resolution. But here's the problem. I personally subscribe to three websites which provide 4K streaming video as well as VR video. But on all three of these sites, you can't stream the VR videos. You must first download the VR videos in …

Hello! After watching all those great videos of the next new flight simulator, i would like to know about "cloud immersion". All the videos are showing the plane flying below the clouds, but not into them. Is there a video where we could see a plane going into a cloud overcast or cumulus, etc? the cloud immersion has very big changes of lights and textures. and its amazing how we can feel flying into clouds of many types. thanks and congratulations! because i have never seen that quality before! great team (without forgetting prepar3d or x-plane) Abraham.

After watching the preview videos and commentary for most of the day, I watched something this evening which completely blew my mind. - It wasn’t flightsim I watched a real round the world video series on YouTube and I realised that what I was watching looked EXACTLY like what I had been watching all day. There was almost no distinction between the sim footage and the real world aerial footage I was watching this evening. The buildings and atmospherics were practically identical. Sounds obvious, but the realisation of it was pretty amazing. This is when I realised how absolutely amazing the new tech in the new sim actually is. Definitely a revolutionary …
