I've been basking in all of the info and videos out there following the bomb that dropped yesterday, and I can't wait until the middle of next year when it could be released. However, one thing that I haven't heard is whether or not this thing will have seasons or not. Seasons and snow on Orthos have been a challenge in X-plane, and ORBX uses static tiles. I sure hope they're going to implement seasons in a better, more-realistic fashion. I really don't want to fly in one season all of the time:-(

I mean, it is an official yearly event for Flight Sim developers to showcase their developments to an audience of Flight sim enthusiasts. Since MSFS is the next generation of Flight Sims, I’m not seeing any mention of MSFS in the arena. Prominent developers like Aerosoft, OrbX, Just Flight, Laminar Research (X Plane) etc. are attending. My guess is that since MSFS is in pre-alpha and also since these developers, if included, are working on products for MSFS, they can’t talk about because of NDA’s. Hence why Microsoft bought in personalities from all around the world for a private event of their own. I personally think it’s going to be hilarious see…

I am a cautious, not easily excited, guy but I have to say that Asobo seems well on its way to reinvent home flight simulation. Bravo, les gars ! And a French-US venture, I like that ! I wonder what were the specs of the machines on which the happy few tested the pre-alpha. I understand from Froogle, I think, that the new sim works on Dx11 and does not require RT functionality. So we are talking of the 1080 generation ? What about the CPU ? Any indication from another tester ? Storage capacity for cached sceneries ? Also, it would be nice to see the same footage in its full online glory, offline cached and offline non cached.

Is it possible MSFS Dev`s will do a surprise visit to the show next weekend, a golden opportunity to touch base with third party Dev`s on the other side of the pond, as I suspect it will be a big talking point at the show, and with Microsoft next big gaming event a few weeks later in London.

Did any one notice any ray tracing support in any of the video clips that were provided? Was it mentioned in any of MS updates? It's becoming today's normal in most of the modern PC games. Best regards Ali A.

If you're not familiar with his channel, he's a RW pilot who documents his progression in aviation. Good stuff. He's recently gotten into simming for IFR work and seems to be enthusiastically diving into it. Seems impressed with the sim thus far. The middle part of the vid has the MS team going more in depth about the flight model than I've seen before.

Its in german so here some facts: - 40k airports - Real World Live AI Traffic (not yet included as objects in game though) - Real World Ship traffic collected by transponder signals (its planned) - Grass only rendered at very very low height - From high altitude only conifers trees are beeing rendered - Asobo is developing the FS with a 200 man power team - They use openstreetmap to determine building heights - With no internet connection everything will be procedural generated. You can preload stuff though and fly offline then - Live real weather confirmed - Atmoshphere is divided in 32 layers - Raindrops on windshie…

On one of the biggest Dutch 'tech sites', Tweakers.net, this was posted in one of the longest running flight sim topics (the huge topic started on February 6th 2012): "Maandagochtend om 9 uur vinden jullie een uitgebreide preview + video van de nieuwe Microsoft Flight Simulator op de frontpage. Ben benieuwd naar jullie reacties!" Translation: "Monday morning at 9 am you will find an extensive preview + video of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator on the frontpage. I am curious about your reactions!" Two weeks ago the poster said some people from Tweakers were invited to visit the MS headquarters to give MSFS a try. Hopefully their report will bring us some more…

Well, they completely knocked that one out of the ballpark. In many of the video clips shown you could see dynamic movement of the airframe during flight. Super excited about this aspect of the sim - and about every other aspect.

Earlier I created topic regarding Aerocaches, Challenges, Missions etc. how cool it would be to have them in MSFS 2020 as well. If you remember Microsoft Flight 2012, that game had all of that. It's my favorite game, it has over 300 Aerocaches and over 10 Missions with proper voice acting. Will MSFS 2020 have any of this? MSFS 2020 world could have like thousands of Aerocaches made by Microsoft and Community. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/556316-i-want-missions-challanges-jobs-and-aerocache-hunt/?tab=comments#comment-4025631

I believe a number of prominent flightsim Twitch streamers were invited by MS to Seattle last week? Does anyone one know what that was about? Presumably they will be given access to beta versions for streaming when the time comes.

I thought I'd share a bizarre story with you about something strange that happened to me four years ago this month. My daughter and I were attending a group dinner, when we were introduced to a gentleman in his 30s named Kevin. Kevin was an avid gamer and, for a time, hosted a local podcast discussing all the latest news within the gamer community. At some point during dinner, I mentioned to Kevin that I was a flight sim enthusiast. He immediately responded that he'd just heard exciting news about Microsoft restarting its flight sim franchise, but this time on XBOX. This news intrigued me greatly, and I remember saying to my daughter that I'll probably need to upgrad…

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/67826/new-flight-simulator-footage-best-looking-game/index.html Video game (or simulator) graphics are a big attraction for gamers. They won't guarantee long-term financial success of a product or continued customer engagement, but with graphics like this you can bet a lot of non-simmers will at least be willing to give the sim a try.

On the 26th - tomorrow - we're receiving the "Feature Discovery Series" that will unveil some aspects about at least two of the most important aspects in a flight simulation for me - weather and flight dynamics, as well as World. My hope is, sincerely, that FS 2020 ( the name that most ended up calling FLIGHT SIMULATOR ... ) will revolutionize the World of Flight Simulation in the next 10 years or more, just as fs1 did, some 30 yrs ago. I have a strong feel that FS 2020 will open me the door to get away from my present state of simming, where the only sim I really get joy out of playing, and actually turned addictive to me is War Thunder - who would guess ?... …
