Road traffic would play such an important role in the immersion aspect and this can be further made realistic by having road traffic depend on time so more busy during day time but as it gets later at night less traffic. They should also take a step further and have more heavy trucks at night with their hazard flashing lights. Not sure if they have already done this but implement ai ships with dynamic lights so while you're cruising at an high altitude and the ocean is pitch dark you can make out those ships. I am also seriously hoping MS would make the night colorful so far I am only seeing orange lights everywhere from roads to buildings. Do they not have som…

...and color. Other sims also have very detailed cockpit and scenery, but they look bland and sterile compared with MSFS. I believe the major trick is the light, and color as its consequence. It really looks like ray tracing, but the developer denys it. How can they achieve this effect of light if its not ray tracing? Any other advanced light effect that cannot be realized by other sims because of the dated graphic engine?

I'm sure many users will be looking forward to using the coming sim in a multiplayer platform like PilotEdge, VATSIM, IVAO etc. I personally use PilotEdge and one thing that I really like about Xplane11 and PE is that there are functions that add to the realism via in and out data. As an example, on the Comm radio when using the GTN series, when I key the mic to talk to ATC the Tx lights up and Rx lights up when others are talking. Thats a huge help in troubleshooting if a radio is working or not. The ability to assign a hot key or hardware button to "Ident" is also a big deal since the PE controllers often ask to Ident. Having a button to press or to have the ability for…

I hope that details like the most basic gauge for navigation, the whiskey compass, gets some love from the pre-alpha stage to final release. Seems like there is only one axis for the planes Im seeing in the videos and would love to see a 2 axis compass with better roll and pitch characteristics from an upset recovery to smooth flight. Where the card moves around a lot before it settles down.

I think this is an interesting conversation while we wait for more news. Clearly Bing Maps is the foundation of MSFS modernization and the only competitor to Bing Maps in the consumer world is Google Maps. Google has even invested quite a bit more than Bing in it's mapping technology. Partly because Google saw the consumer search benefit of having the best maps in the world and got out ahead of MS. I feel MSFS biggest appeal to the general consumer is the exploration of the world and learning to properly fly a close second. Google, over the years, has dipped it toe in the global exploration market with it's Google Earth and VR products. It definitely means something…

Am I the only one who noticed frequent scenery popping (switching LOD it seems) on the videos that were recently released ?

Just the people who have been selected and a DR update? Or something more?

When the new sim eventually launches I am actually hoping they do not release a SDK for developers to simply port over products. I'm sure many many people have spent thousands in total on their current sim (don't worry, I am one of those people too) but I believe this would really be a backwards step for something that is meant to be one giant leap forward for us. If it is something being developed to last at least 5-10 years then I hope that developers are forced to completely redevelop their products from the ground up again and really utilise current/future hardware and optimise the new sim's technical features to the max instead of importing an often old and alre…

Don't give us yet again the FSX/P3D Settings-Controls interface where we cannot program easily, out the box, the curves and all the buttons/switches of our sometimes expensive gears like the Warthog. Take a leaf out of DCS book. Everything is accessible and easy to understand (well, almost).

Most people would agree the camera system in FSX was really bad, right? I'm not a huge X-Plane fan, but they seem to have gotten it right for the most part. What do you want to see in MSFS2020?

Hey folks. Anyone else having issues signing up? I filled out the insider survey and it just hangs uploading the dxdiag file. I've tried multiple browsers now with no difference. Anyone else experience this and have a possible fix?

I just tested my download speed because we all know how important our wifi speed is going to be. I have 52 dl speed on my laptop and 270 dl speed on my phone. They both us the same network so how are they so different? If the game was played on the phone I would be all set but of course it will need to be played on the slow laptop. Can anyone help me understand what this all means.

Please, tell me again how all this wonderful, accurate, highly detailed scenery is NOT going to impact frame rates. What I'm seeing in all the clips I'm seeing on this site and youtube is beyond my comprehension. Is there some special computer configuration needed, or has Microsoft somehow figured out how to PRESENT this fabulous scenery without impact? Of course, like others, I cannot wait patiently for this new sim. I have the very latest computer from Jetline that works so very well with P3d. Will I be able to move to the new Flight Simulator 2020 with no specific upgrade, or have they figured out a way for all of us to enjoy the new sim. Stan

You've ruined my P3D! Here I was, all content with the sim for who knows how long, ready for years of updates, enjoying my clinical hording of addons and you came along with your new sim out of the blue. I'll be honest here, I'm an eye candy guy. I've been in the visual arts for decades, and always with an eye toward the sky and aviation. My main focus in the sim is always chasing the perfect visuals with the right cloud, lighting and sky textures. I want it to look as real as possible. So here you are now with visuals that absolutely blow out of the water anything I've been trying to achieve. Of course I'm not really complaining. I just didn't think that anything like th…

One of the biggest Pro's to this sim could be the end to tweaking and maintenance, and the fact you can plan a flight A to B and just go. I still expect (and want) settings in the menu to change on the fly. And add-ons such as custom airports will sometimes need updating. But hopefully it won't be about config settings tweaks and sim restarts again and again to see if the blurries are fixed lol. Adjust the sliders in the menu, plan it (anywhere) and the sim world is always up to date from the server. Greazer.

Hope that MS/Asobo consider also the little "intricacies of life": - NAVAIDS could be fail due to technical reasons or maintenance - bird strike, icing, mechanical failures, even smoke in cabin or passenger illness as default and not when I turn them on before I start my fllight. (Maybe the option to turn them off, but let them default on) - someone mentioned wildlife on little gras strips - why not? - cranes and other temporary obstacles - randomized - wildfire and smoke affecting your flight/airport - temporarily closed runways (only at big airports with multiple RWYs) or shortened - RWY lights could fail and so on …

The settings-controls in FSX and most flight sims work well for a yoke, not for a stick. Take the Warthog HOTAS with so many hats and buttons. How these are organized is more important than how many there are. The stick has a 'fire button' easy to reach that can act as a shift key. Thus the shift key can be used to tune a radio freq downward instead of upward, zoom fast instead of slow, increase a flap notch instead of retract a notch, drop instead of raise the gear. Or sequences, hitting the same button does several things one at a time on each press. Such as cylce through certain specific views instead of the view list the sim defaults to. Or in FSX cycle all…

Is it such a thing possible? For example if I am at a default airport and Azure detects a hangar nearby from satellite imagery, could it "augment" it not only with exterior model but also with opening gates and an interior model created procedurally "on the fly" more I approach it with my plane?

Another speculative thread I'm afraid folks, but (given Microsoft's apparently solid approach to generating scenery) I was wondering what people may think about the possibility of developers shifting from making airports and scenery to something like events at those locations. Imagine if there was a product that modeled, for example, populating Oshkosh when that's taking place; so you could fly in and see some AI acrobatics going on - or even community events or competitions. Essentially, I'm thinking of items that could compliment rather than replace what's in the sim.

So the past several reviews and interviews have made it clear that Internet Bandwidth will effect the level of scenery detail when streaming scenery... Precaching the scenery will possibly add better scenery detail regardless of bandwidth but wondering how long it will take on long flights...? Also, how much will pre-cached scenery effect real-time weather along long flights will it be as dynamic as real time streaming? Will weather dynamic-ness also depend on bandwidth when streaming? Wondering what the internet bandwidth limit is for the highest detail streaming scenery? Looks like bandwidth and latency might be more im…

I don't recall hearing them say the resolution of the mesh, does anybody know? In current flight sims such as Xplane the mesh does not have very high resolution so scenery can have unnatural straight lines and be angular and things like railway embankments that we have in the UK cannot be modelled. It would make a huge difference the realism of the scenery if we had mesh of high enough resolution to be able to get things like railway embankments and high detailed mountains for example but I don't recall seeing railways on the footage I've seen and certainly not moving trains as we do in Xplane. I know trains and ground traffic and other eye candy are fairly…

Someone has to mention it, might as well be me... I would sure like on of those MSFS polo shirts and a MSFS gaming chair also. Maybe MS can open up a FS store for everyone 🙂 High on the priority list, I'm sure...hehe.
