Hi All, Yes. I've called the upcoming sim FS 2020. Sorry but you all know what I mean. Having been extremely disappointed that I wasn't accepted for the first round of alpha testers (just kiddin') I was wondering if any members here perhaps were? Now, I'm not expecting a definitive yes due to probable NDA but was wondering what the FS 2020 team were looking for in terms of initial testers. Would it be people with incredible rigs with real cockpits, multi-monitors, the most up-to-date hardware, etc. or perhaps the more 'general' setup. What do you guys think? Cheers Darren

Getting a little worried with a few items that haven't been focused on yet with only a few months until release (a short time in terms of major features to the sim being complete considering the five year development cycle). No real mention of ATC and seasons. AI is very sketchy as well. The ability to incorporate an updated package like Ultimate Traffic would be perfect right out the box as a start. They can develop the SDK to expand on the ATC engine to incorporate third party development of some really cool ideas but default ATC is a standard mainstay in the FS series now. The talk of real world ATC is complex and who would man it, how would that work with AI? We …

I haven't noticed in this 2020 thread - that anyone commented on the aircraft that MS will include in the sim. Somewhere in the last 2 days I saw a video showing all the A/Cs that will be included in the sim - butr now I cant find it. Now scenery is one thing - but the aircraft is another - and I want to fly some of those shown - I have never seen before. One of the a/c is vaguely similar to my Carenado PA 46 Malibu and it appears in quite few of the early photos and videos that MS have been issuing. It is the Socata TBM 900 - a French aircraft by Daher and is on the X-Aviation web site @ $US 64.95 and looks to be a beauty and it's currently down…

we have now so many members with access to MSFS and yet they won't be able to talk and share any information ? What is the forum going to look like during months during which half of the people will be speculating other half won't be able to join discussion ... it's ridiculous Microsoft should really consider authorizing , at least the release of TEXTUAL information on forums by the testers. They could demand limiting the discussions on forums with member only access. Avsim could quickly create a sub forum with member only access where we can exchange with the testers. Please Microsoft if you're reading this, say something on the next update about this ...

'Twas the night before Alpha. And all through the web. Not a simmer was happy. Their hearts full of dread. Not a word yet from Lionel. Would he just leave them out? Would they miss the big Alpha? Their heads dropped to pout. When in their Inbox, There rose such a clatter, An Insider message, Their lives will now matter. On Froogle, On Ainscough, On Artwick, On Meyer, On ORBX, On Lurkers, And all the Sim Flyers. Will we need a new rig? Will our wives miss the money? Will there be a subscription? 'Twas not really funny. And I heard them comp…

Appreciating the fact that the simulator is still a year out and still being worked on, I was interested to know how Azure AI generates autogen in areas where photogrammetry data is not available. I found that London and Newcastle does not have photogrammetry data in bing map while it is available in google maps. So here is compilation of screenshots I took from b-roll to compare the differences between google, bing and sim. London 1 Bing London 1 Google London 1 MSFS London 2 Bing London 2 Google London 2 MSFS Newcastle 1 Bing Newcastle 1 Google Newcastle 1 MSFS Newcastle 2 Bin…

I know it is too early to get any solid proof which one is best for the new MSFS2020, but I am starting to believe that choosing on of the new multicore AMD RYZEN Threadripper CPU and a new AMD NAVI GPU could actually be a better hardware platform for flight simming until INTEL catch up in a few years from now and NVIDIA brings out the new RTX 3000 serie. What do you think?

Does anybody know where I can find a list of all flight sim conferences/shows/events? Or have recommendations for some of these events? Trying to plot out a trip to one if Microsoft is going to be at any. Even if they won't, would be cool to go. Also, what air shows do you think would be good for MFS2020? Sounded like there were some members of the team at Oshkosh this year.

I was just thinking about the fact that each layer of clouds cast shadows and reduce the ambient light from ground if you put 24 layers (i think it's the maximum) of overcast it may be completely dark as in night time, it would be so weird to see that I can't wait to mess with the personalized weather

How do you think MSFS dev team are going to implement night lighting? I'm not referring only to the streetlights, but more to building tops, antennas, windmills or even radars red beacon or white strobes lights at night, or even custom illumination (Las Vegas pyramid beam light for example). There are some screenshots on the link below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_warning_lights Also, do you think lighthouses should be implemented? With all the help Azure brings regarding objects placement, might be a cool addition, and a cool feature for night flights in certain areas. I left you this page, which includes the real light pattern and plac…

Was flying over my little hometown in the Netherlands and I was fairly shocked at how low resolution the bing maps were compared to google, at least half the resolution. I hope Bing will update these maps as well as aerial images over time because this is underwhelming. Maybe Azure can improve the maps.

A lower priority right now, but after the sim has matured with helicopters and VR and amazing world scenery, they should focus big time on multiplayer and being able to actually see yourself and meet others in sim. It brings a reason for the flying. When you get to the destination you can drive to the beach hotel to enjoy the views or ride on one of the ships etc etc.

Hello I can't find a way to directly contact the MSFS team from its web site. In addition, its website's forum is not yet up. However, I understand their team have been visiting community web sites daily, including this one. Would they mind adding toggleable captions or transcripts to everything posted in the site that uses audio, such as their October 10 video? In addition, would they mind ensuring all everything spoken in the sim (lessons and missions like FSX's) are available captioned as well? I am Deaf and simmers like me would appreciate Ms making its content audiologically accessible to everyone. In FSX Rob Machado's lessons are doable if not fully accessible…

So basically if you guys know tsw it is on xbox and they have interactive cockpit. Now FSX had controller support so we should be expecting something along those lines. What are your thoughts?

A year from now, November 2020 etc. Some should be more cautious about announcing a date without precisely referencing to a MS declaration or specifying it is a conjecture from their part. Information is always inches away of desinformation...

As we talk about weather: Asobo, this is what we expect in MSFS2020 😉

What could be the size of the base game ? Asobo says that the sim could be played without a connection. Does it mean that it will be also sold on DVD at 8.5 GB per disk ? Are we going to see the old times of the 5.25 floppies when a program could come with 10 disks ? Could they sell it on a SSD (not a bad solution IMHO for the connection challenged simmers) ? if sold only online, will it crash the 100 GB mark (ouch !) ? if premature, not so trivial questions 😉 ?

I was wondering: if the scenery, away from highly detailed cities, is satellite images with autogen buildings and trees placed on it, what will we see when we get close to landmarks like castles, fortresses, power plants and the like which are far off these highly accurate areas? Anyone heard or seen something on that issue? What do you think Neuschwanstein, the Taj Mahal or the Castel de Monte will look lilke in FS2020?

What are some of your "easter eggs" requests? Maybe others might have some good ideas or remember easter eggs from other sims. I'd say fireworks over major cities on New Years Eve at midnight would be one. Fireworks on July 4th in major US cities might be one. Didn't a sim once include ghost flights over the Bermuda Triangle? Oshkosh week could be one to where the the field is packed with airshow stuff.
