Until now it was simple, I knew how to fly any GA aircraft of my sim in a realistic way (Cold and dark startups etc...) But if I wanted to do the same with a complex jet, I had to buy one and learn how to do it for that particular aircraft. At least that is how I do it, I prefer to master 1 or 2 complex aircrafts maximum and stick with them for all my long flights. Problem is with MSFS, all the default jets will have almost all the systems simulated which means we will have to learn a ton of checklists and different FMC's if we want to make at least one flight with at least each one of the default aircrafts! I should add I am not lucky, the only jets I master ar…

I've build many a PC in the past and every time I do that I research what the latest tech is. I haven't build a PC in some years but am obviously considering an upgrade once MSFS is released. This has led me to the following: The little I've read so far on the GeForce RTX 2080 is that it has the capacity for "deep learning super sampling" (DLSS). This appears to be an alternative approach to AA that is less resource intensive and so greatly increases frame rates. The demo videos I've seen on YouTube look equivalent in image quality but with 10 - 30 fps increases. My question to the experts is, can DLSS work on any game or does it have to be specifically coded fo…

Hi all, As many of us have experienced, when we have loaded Microsoft Flight Simulator onto a PC which got updated to Windows 10, the fsx.exe file disappears. I plowed my way through numerous blogs and supposed fixes but could never find the file to run my program, and I just about gave up! Then I thought that this exe file must be on one of the two program discs so I put disc 1 into the pc, opened up Windows explorer, clicked on the drive with the disc in and entered “fsx.exe” into the search bar. Within seconds it found the file!! I then copied the file, found the Flight Simulator program in “Program Files - Microsoft Games - Microsoft Flight Simulator and pasted …

Since I have been watching the videos and appreciating the stunning visuals I have just realised that the realism is in large part not just down to graphical fidelity but the rock solid way it is displayed (putting aside pop in) There is absolutely no sign of aliasing or "jaggies" in any of the videos and certainly no z fighting or flickering as seen in Xplane so I am wondering how this is achieved (which method of AA is being used and at what setting for example)? Perhaps somebody who has been fortunate enough to get a hands on or has read the information elsewhere can tell us what settings were available and what they were set at?

I found this interesting. In the Copenhagen clip there is a noticeable transition between the photogrammetry data and the AI augmented data, highlighting the limitations of matching different sources. For some, the first impression of these inconsistencies may be less than complimentary, but keep in mind that none of this data is fixed and will continue to be updated with varying degrees of regularity. Photogrammetry will improve (in both quality and coverage), satellite imagery will improve, as will AI placement of assets, traffic data, weather data etc etc. Essentially, this simulator is powered by vast amounts of external data, and that data is always improvi…

Hey guys; Just check out the newest trailer from the development team over at YouTube!... As for me...I am totally blown away at what they have accomplished so far!...and totally speechless!...it is like flying over a real world...it is totally mind blowing how these folks are recreating every single detail of the real world!...take for example a good look at the new water textures...with waves and currents that come alive and different colour shades as the sun light hits the water...lakes and inside waters are also recreated with stunning detail!...this was one of the things that I was going to request to the team...that they implement realistic looking water..…

Obviously, MS has reached out to some third party developers or vice versa. I think we can also conclude that porting certain things from the ESP will not be very hard. I doubt PMDG would abandon P3D right now if they had to re-write everything from scratch for MSFS 2020. Maybe there's an option to use legacy flight models from ESP? The complex subsystems on these commercial jets won't have to be re-written right? It seems we can also conclude that at the very least Microsoft will have somewhat low fees for third party addon makers to be on stores or the platform itself. The only thing is... I don't follow PMDG that closely but it seems they take very radi…

Will the new MSFS be an online subscription paid monthly or an outright purchase? Anyone have any ideas what this sim might cost?

... provided the most basic SDK is shipped with the release. By most basic SDK I mean a way to expose the EYEPOINT as "setable" (3 dimensionnal GPS coordinates LAT LON ALT and 3 axis viewpoint tilt movement). I have yet to read a topic on this very exciting subject (correct me if I'm wrong and it's been already discussed), but any cockpit builder will be able to benefits from MSFS visuals on release. Wait, what ? What about the waiting of all the addons to get a MSFS version ? Could be years away ! Well, basically I plan to instantly switch to MSFS on release day in my home cockpit and benefit from the new visuals. How ? Simple : buy a dedicated PC, ins…

I am a Formula 1 fan - and when a new X box was announced around 12 months ago that gave 4K HDR quality playback - and a new 4K game F1 2019 - I jumped in on a special X Box One X offer in a local store - bought the F1 and Forza 4 and drove around all the worlds tracks in my Ferrari - and the roads of England's Lake District in my Maserati - at super frame rates without any stutters. At the same time - I bought a new 55" 4K HDR10 -TV - my dear wife of 64 years of marriage relegated me back to my own bedroom with the X BOX - and to my old PC - so I bought a Hisense 43 "HDR10 TV as a monitor to my aging PC - which meant an upgrade - to what now seems to be - a medi…

After watching the videos and interviews, it all looks impressive. However... to shape this sim for max profits, I think they should: 1. Work on post processing the photogrammetry trees. The buildings in the city look great but the trees could use some post processing to make them less "blob" like. I realize the Asobo guys may already be working on this. 2. Check the clouds. It seems too many times the clouds look like some Doomsday end of the world movie. Maybe check the clouds, make them less doomsdayish. 3. MS can claim a big win if the sim can update the Nav data each month and always be up to date. Pretty sure every simmer will appreciate that, Big tim…

"Microsoft streaming service Project xCloud will come to Windows 10 PCs in 2020" - Eurogamer "he spoke about Project xCloud, Microsoft's take on video game streaming, which already seems like a cool proposition as it plans integration with Game Pass in 2020." This is a thread on what is arguably the biggest gaming forum out there. Just thought it would be interesting to see how people in the general gaming crowd responds to the X0 19 trailer.
