    1. Membership to 3rd party companies for Nav data updates. Hoping there will be automatic Nav data updates within FS 2020. (Charts/Moving map a bonus). 2. Blob Trees. I'm assuming the developers are working on processing or replacing the photogrammetry trees with nicer sim trees that sway in the wind. 3. A need to buy and install regional photo scenery from 3rd party vendors. 4. Strange / wacky / old / military aircraft etc. 5. A need to buy weather addon plugins or textures / effects for better realism. 6. No tablet support. Hope to easily cast EFB's or gauges etc straight to tablet (or another PC). 7. Missing Advanced Settings. If ther…

Partner Visit – ICON Last Monday (11/18/19) I visited the Icon headquarters in sunny California. During my visit I had the opportunity to help fine tune the Icon A5 with a few of their test pilots. As the plane already matched the POH (Pilot’s operating handbook) we spent the majority of our time reviewing some specific areas like stall mechanics, water landings/takeoffs, the engine’s detailed power curve, handling, and response to control surface movement. Though this was a short trip, I had such a great time working with the team at Icon. The Icon A5 is such an amazing aircraft with great performance, security, and handling. It was great to show the …

Great news, with MSFS supporting glTF it means developers can use any 3D modeling software they choose, no lock-in to the ultra-expensive 3DSMax. https://www.khronos.org/gltf/ I expect Blender will be the software of choice for hobbyists but there may be other affordable options. Houdini has some nice gamedev plugins.

I have enjoyed reading about others' excitement for the new sim about as much as I've enjoyed reveling in my own excitement. However, I have become increasingly annoyed by what I feel are disingenuous comments which run along the lines of "no buy if...". May I suggest that the lawyers among this forum's fine participants cobble together a piece of legislation which would make such statements contractual obligations, such that any person who utters them is indeed forbidden from purchasing the new sim once it is released if it does not contain the feature whose absence they complained about. This would add a dark pleasure dimension to my enjoyment of these forums, which, un…

Hi! I've been noticing that some developers are offering a fee or even free to those who buy P3d V4 addons now and will have access to the MSFS2020 version. The idea here is to list these developers to help you decide to buy p3d v4 addons without losing money when launching MSFS 2020. Below are some: FsimStudios - Edmonton International Airport (IATA: YEG, ICAO: CYEG) for P3D v4 at FsimStudios Store THIS ORDER QUALIFIES FOR A FREE UPGRADE TO THE MFS2020* *(once it is released. Will be activated using the same order information) PMDG 737 NGXu for P3D v4 at PMDG store Buy the new PMDG 737NGXu for Prepar3D v4 today and automatic…

Sebastian has confirmed that the new sim will have the old FSX FDE architecture and their new one to choose from. It seems to me a strange idea, typical of marketing people willing to edge their bets. Strange and maybe obnoxious as it may stiffle the creativity of aircraft developers who could take the easy path. On the other hand, it will shuffle the card deck, helping to sort out those willing to embrace an innovative technology and those only interested by maximizing the cashflow. My 2 eurocents. PS he didn't say BTW whether the P3D aircraft would be compatible. More knowledgeable than me can correct me but it does not go without saying.

Back in the day when FSX was launched MS released a demo version so that potential buyers could check if FSX would run on their PC,looks to me that FS2020 is going to need a lot of processing power and bandwidth to achieve the results that we are seeing on the videos that MS have released so far. That being the case I hope a demo version is made available so that we can try before we buy !!

  11. Since Asobo can't visit every place on earth and people will be getting Alpha access in the near future I think it would be helpful to list some places you are wondering whether they will render correctly or not. For example, The Royal Gorge in Colorado: https://binged.it/2sbCUON Even on the highest zoom level there is quite a bit of distortion on two buildings. I am guessing because of the excessive slope. Having been there these buildings are right on the edge of the Canyon. I am curious how the AI and its building rendering will handle these structures and the very steep canyon. Will be a very curious place for someone to fly over once they have …

...Until FS is released, in fact I have already uninstalled both P3D and X-Plane. It is indeed a new paradigm. Neither of the former mentioned flight sims with all of my addon's can come close in my opinion to the glory that is FS in it's Pre Alpha state. And so regardless of cost, subscriptions, the initial lack of ATC and a myriad of other small exclusions or problems I shall while away the time with DCS, IL2 and Star Citizen until this true 64bit gem is released. So Au revoir until we meet again over Paris, London, New York or any of the other 2 million plus accurately represented cites in this amazing World they are creating.

Either the grass weeds are too big or the plane is an RC plane. It just doesn't look good(at least to my eyes). Check image here. What do you think? Hope they can fix things like this before release, because this is not good enough for a 2020 flight sim.

  14. Hi I was thinking about the scenery developers do you think some of the big scenery developers are going to suffer from FS2020 and loose a market or take a big hit in their sales. When you look at the scenery in FS2020 it blows all the developers scenery away. I myself have stopped buying any P3Dv4 add-ons apart from the NGXu until FS2020 is released and can be tested. I feel buying for P3D or FSX is like beating a dead horse and a major change after so long is immanent

  15. Hi MSFS Team, Thank you for sharing your dev update today. The video episode was jaw dropping unreal; I could not believe my eyes on what I was seeing. I am like when is MSFS Team going to approve my Tech Alpha 1 invite . One thing I would like to state based on my insane experience when it comes to installs of FSX, P3D1.4, 2.x, 3.x, and 4.5x - is that can you please enforce all third party devs to install outside the sim directory. The legacy mess that everyone is following from FSX days is just plain sad. FSX had an addon directory which barely anyone used. When the sim breaks, third party blames the sim team, and these days it is vice versa with LM's P3…

5 months later, the E3 trailer has 5 million views. The X019 trailer is just shy of 1 million views in just 10 days. The hype MSFS is generating is unreal. Their production team needs a raise. The music compliments the entire aesthetic of the video beautifully. The youtube comments on the video are quite hilarious though !

How does one start a poll? I would be interested in polling how many people requesting TIR for MSFT 2020 have actually tried VR. Also would like to pole how many VR naysayers in general have tried it. This was me when I tried TIR for the first time: "Cool...I don't have to use the hat switch anymore." This was me when I turned the hdg bug on my physical panel for the first time. "Cool...I can actually turn the knob." This was me when I tried VR for the first time...and every time since: "Wow...it's like I'm sitting inside the fing plane!"

I was privately discussing this afternoon with a fellow participant of this forum who has a more intimate knowledge of FDE than me and we came to the conclusion that the new FDE architecture should give a new life to all the aircraft of the Golden Age : GeeBee and all the superbly designed biplanes like the Waco, Staggerwing, Jungmeister. Those who say that the new sim would choke to death the 3PD world, should watch the last EP !

  19. Who will be the first to release a study level hot-air balloon 😎 ?

  20. I just saw this on Gameinformer. In addition, Microsoft Flight Simulator has the power to track real-world flight traffic using transponder signals. “We know where every airplane is, and we actually render it in real time,” says Microsoft’s Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator. “We [also] have A.I.-driven planes, and then everything from the air-traffic controller gets a slot. The interaction between us and the real world’s traffic is kind of complicated. You have options: You can either fly with just A.I. traffic and we control everything, or you fly with just real-world traffic. And then, the really hard one is the blend. We’re still working on that! I…

Watch it seated on a chair because you may fall on your behind. After 40 years of trials and errors, we may have, at last, a true home flight simulator ! Now we are cooking, FS20 is not about having the National Geographic in our sim to enjoy the view, what Sébastien shows is that they are building a total new animal with simcraft actually flying through the air. For instance, I love to fly in mountainous areas for the landscape and the challenge of navigation and approach but I know that our present sims are not very good at rendering the physics of the flight through the airflows modeled by slopes and ridges. This is the past. Now the true challenge will …

  23. I would love to see the new MSFS support certain fringe aircraft types. In particular, I want support for the following (My personal aircraft recommendations for each have a * 😞 1.) Seaplanes Realistic water/waves Realistic handling in water * DeHavilland Beaver * 2.) Gliders Gliders were one of the things I loved about FSX. Would love to see these supported again, Realistic thermals/Mountain wave turbulence/mountain winds/etc. * Grob G-102 * 3.) Tailwheel Aircraft Please, please ensure that taildraggers act like, well, taildraggers! * Boeing Stearman PT-17 & Piper J3 Cub * 4.) Lighter than Air A…

Watching the Episode 3 video at Courchevel when the camera is under the belly of the plane and focued on the wheels, the background is blurry providing a shallow depth of field view. This is not the first time that we have seen this. Take a look at 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 10 seconds. While yes once again this could be post editing, I'm really start to feel that this will be a feature of the exterior view as we have seen this way too many times in other clips. A welcomed feature if that is the case. It just seems like a lot of editing work especially as the camera wraps around the wheel for these videos when no other major video effects seem to be the case.

Hi, I have been involved in flight simulation since 2008. In 2017 I changed from FSX to P3DV4. Over the years I have spent hundreds of Euro for PMDG airplanes and add-on-areas sceneries and about 50 add-on airports. I've read some enthusiastic reviews about "MSFS 2020", but I have my doubts about how it will work! I'm a big fan of Goolge Earth with its 3D modeled cities and thought how great it would be to have it in the simulator. "MSFS 2020“ will load permanently imense data during the virtual flight from the internet. The whole world is 20000 Bluray's large. Purely environmental already a catastrophe. Virtual flying will be as harmful as real f…
