  1. From the horse's mouth, in the same Sebastian's interview in XBOXYGEN (see my other thread about FPS and hardware) Xboxygen: ... And with regard to the available planes, for example, will you have big pieces like the A380 or the Antonov 225? Asobo: We have a lot of planes planned. There is the license side, everything has to be ready, and you have to show what it looks like because it is not interesting to say that there is a plane without showing it. The list is growing and things happen regularly. Xboxygen: Does that mean we could have new ones [aircraft] after the release of the game? Asobo: There is also the fact that Flight Simulator has always s…

Way I see it with this sim coming out on two different platforms, the PC version is going to be all bells and designed for the hardcore simmer. With the limitations of XBox, the Xbox version will be geared toward casual gamers and could be used as a gateway to attract the interest of future pilots and hardcore simmers. for that I see how the interact checklist could help make the Xbox version work with a taste of realism while once inflight, you have this beautiful environment to explore in amazing weather and visuals. So by adding a career/economy mode to the sim, the Xbox user can have a reason to fly that us PC users already have with things like FSEconomy, FSPass…

This is something I mostly write for fun. I have fond memories of Microsoft Space Simulator, and have had fun playing around with Orbiter sim and Kerbal Space Program. From what some of the developers are saying, the new flight sim won't just be a flight sim, but a platform. That could mean one day adding trains, ships, maybe also cars and trucks, all within the same platform. But how about spacecraft? Obviously, I'd rather see helicopters and sailplanes added first. Even hot air balloons. However, it would be neat to also have the capability to include suborbital/low Earth orbit spacecraft (I'd have no expectation of visiting the moon or Mars). FSX did have "s…

Hi, i just thinking about that. Not to complain really but when we see the videos it's nearly only the 400 detailled cities that are shown. We know that all other places are made with data and azure to fine place the buildings type, vegetation etc and match the satelite ground texture. But, in my point of view, what makes the identitiy of a town or place is not only the placement of the buildings and trees but more the known monuments or special buildings and architectural objects ( churches, stadiums, museums, Castles, Stations... ) So, when we saw the videos, we have been able to see Paris in that method and of course, Paris had Tour Eiffel, Arc the…

The development team, as well as all the media pertaining to the new Microsoft Flight Simulator has been explicit with respect to the title of the project. It is NOT called "FS2020" or any derivative thereof. What will it take to get Avsim (and others) to stop inventing titles? I think the chosen title makes perfect sense. It makes clear its association to the original Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise, and the lack of a date qualifier at the end reinforces the revolutionary versus evolutionary nature of the reboot.

With over 40-45K airports it's clear that not every airport can be realistic, not even with photogrammetry or Azure AI. So how about an Instant scenery designer, WED or Overlay editor, and a global library of hangars, houses, airport acessories, trees etc.etc so the community can create their local airport or update the ones that is just standard created airports? And a Library at MS where we can upload them with MS approving of them, before others can download them. By keeping them within MS's standard, everyone can use them in the sim without having to download seperate objects from different sites. I am pretty sure many of the local airports won't look like Courchevel,…

I remain confused about future flight simming with MSFS 2020. The function split between FS2020 and other commercial flight simulation developers is quite unclear to me. We have now had reveals regarding scenery (including elevation data), aircraft models, aerodynamics and cockpits, apparently leaving 3rd party developers to develop only aircraft models, airports and associated functions. There can be little doubt that Microsoft intends to support 3rd party developers by giving access to a new SDK. So it appears to me that Microsoft could take one of the following three routes in their development: Develop their own aircraft simulators largely to demonstrate a…

MS wants to install real AI. (I love being stuck in traffic before takeoff! For real!) But can real AI interact with ATC? Just for safety, I do not want to be 500 feet behind a 747 in the approach. ATC must be able to control the AI. I could well imagine that only the real flight plan is deposited. The ATC controls the rest. With correct intervals and holdings. (This thread serves only as a food for thought for MS / Asobo, I hope they have already thought about that)

I was wondering if MSFS plans on having some kind of quality control system in place for addon developers. One of the biggest frustrations that I've encountered over the years has been buying buggy products from developers who promise the world, but rarely deliver. They promise amazing updates and fixes in later versions which sometimes never materialize. They toss in some minor bug fixes but never make any significant changes. At the end of the day, we get strung along, for years in some cases, waiting for products that never work, and sometimes cause more problems along the way. I'm not going to name any companies, but most of us probably can come up with a few exa…

With this amount of realism you only get to crave more and more immersion. That's how I felt when I got Aerofly FS2 and led to me buying a motion platform. Now this just takes it to a whole new level. How frustrating though when AeroFly pulled the plug on the SDK which provides the telemetry data for motion platforms. Thanks Microsoft for telling us the cockpit builders will be happy. I know motion platforms are a tiny tiny segment of the user base but a small mention as to whether they will be supported would be appreciated. In fact with a sim this realistic the demand for platforms will surely increase - home and commercial.

In order to make FS2020 as reality-based as possible, a new series of true-to-life add-ons is hereby being announced to make FS2020 as realistic as possible. Among these add-ons: Screaming Child Add-On: This flight sim enhancement ensures that your flight correctly mirrors a real-world traveling experience. This add-on allows you to select the gender, age, and ethnic background of the screaming child passenger, as well as your choice of twelve different languages the child can utilize to obnoxiously shout demands. $29.95 (Incompatible with ORBX Central V4). Lost Luggage Generator: Is any flight truly realistic without losing your luggage? Now, this lost-absent…

"STANDARD: How is the Flight Simulator technically possible? Jörg Neumann: Future technology! It all started when I was working on a project around Hololens. The idea behind it was that you can visit certain places in the world. It all looked good and felt like you were right there. Then I asked myself if you could do it worldwide. I then showed the project to Phil and he looked at me and asked: "Why are you showing me a video of Seattle in some airplane? I then drifted off to the right and he looked at me and said, "Oh, real time?" But that was just one city, and there are more than two million cities worldwide. Then I went to the Bing people and they sent me two …

On the latest discovery series #4 Cockpits, at 0:06 seconds, looking at the instrument panel you can see the French naming for Battery as batterie (although batterie translates to drums) as well as another word up top by the indicators called jour. I don't speak French, but translated on Google it says day so I'm not sure what that means or is supposed to be. The point being, are they going to make the labels be optionally regionally language based and if so I think it would be a good idea.

  21. I know I might get shot for proposing such an idea here, but let me explain. I like PilotsEYE flight documentry series very much. It's such a pleasure watching those real pilots do the pre-flight preparations, taxiing, takeoff, approach and landing in such a professional way, exchange casual talks between them, and enjoy the magnificant view inside and outside the cockpit. It's great enjoyment as well as learning all aspects of airliner flight. Now can we have this in the new MSFS? Technology has so advanced that we already have photorealistic cockpit and scenery, then how about some lifelike virtual veteran pilots that fly the planes so that we can watch and l…

  22. Had a discussion with someone about being able to see landmarks in the game, excuse me simulator. Specifically I was talking about the Wally World ( Walmart ) in my neighborhood, really only meaning that I should be able to recognize it by following the streets in my area and I know exactly where it is located right around the corner from me a few miles. Then he stated I would not actually see the sign on buildings, in this case the Walmart sign, because of USA trademark laws. Anyone have any idea if this would be true? I mean they have to remove every sign in the Bing Maps, is that true? Makes no sense to me, but I am not a lawyer. I mean you can see them in Bing Maps ou…

  23. Hi, I was thinking that maybe is not unreasonable to expect a G3000 with the CJ4 or the TBM. Would be an awesome movement from Asobo-Microsoft. I am daydreaming, right? Would be a day one buy if it comes on a later 3rd party addon, but having that CJ4 with a G3000 is...well... we´ll find out soon enough with this week "cockpits" video. Cheers Carlos

If my memory doesn't fail me, the FS family of sims simulates the trim by moving the CG of the aircraft which is a little weird if I remember correctly my classes in physics of long ago. FS20 using 1000 application points to apply positive and negative lift all over the wings and tail should allow a more orthodox simulation. I took a quick refresher course here https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/VirtualAero/BottleRocket/airplane/trim.html but I would appreciate if real life pilots and FDE developers would comment this point to enlighten us all ?
