I thought people were becoming more patient with age? Or is that a common misconception? 🙂

You'll see in due time

No, since you are running out of time, and each years passes faster and faster 😉

Verbatim Translation via Google Translate regarding VR:

"STANDARD: You have already addressed VR. What is the topic on the priority list?

Neumann: Very high! Asobo and I have years of experience with VR. We know what a lazy and a good implementation look like. We want to bring a good solution, for example by cutting off the cockpit from the rest of the world. Then you can move freely in it, and the world in the background does not start to shimmer. We have started with VR, but we want to do it right."

I don't know what this means...

"cutting off the cockpit from the rest of the world"

Anyone know?

I'll take a stab that it means the difference between a seated and full VR experience?

As in with the cockpit your position is fixed and they may want it so that you can walk around the aircraft for checks or maybe sit in a passenger seat?

I could well be wrong though and it refers to some other technical aspect of VR - actually I think I am wrong 😕

Not again VR?! Seriously? 😕

Very interesting interview... And the planet's animal integration is the best part 🙂

If migration data is applied, the bird strike scenarios will require extra attention from virtual pilots during fall or spring migration, here in NA!

I think a summer 2020 release makes a lot of sense.

It's hard to keep the hype up for a game. With the alphas already starting and hype at a high, I can't see them taking another year to get it to the public. At the very least, we should see an early access release.

Seasons, ships, trains, wildfires, wildlife....  Amazing!

Don't have too high hopes :-), at least six months, not exactly 6 months ...

I have a feeling it will be released in the summer.  If I remember correctly, this was the case with most previous versions, except the one that was delayed because of 9/11.  Maybe this is why the devs mentioned that it will be PC ready, and x-box compatible later (which may indicate that it will be out before the release of the next version of x-box.

IIRC, earlier FS versions were released in early Fall - sometimes September, sometimes October.  The post 9/11 delay for FS2002 got a lot of attention - but didn't actually last very long.

There's no reason why the current developers will stick to that timeline, though.  Clearly they respect history, but I doubt they'd either hold or delay a release just to respect tradition.  I'm guessing we'll see it when it's decently baked.

Thanks. I can’t fathom what he means. Maybe a technical limitation with the new graphics engine...

Maybe more of a Superman concept of flying. 😁 Or a birds point of view!

Don't you know how big the world is? It would take a really long time to see all the airports (48.000?), let alone the over 2 million cities. If one would visit 10 each day you would only visit 3650 in a year. Nobody would be able to visit all the cities in the world in a realistic manner (by flying to each one). And then you would not only want to visit cities do you? You'll also want to visit mountain ranges, peaks, deserts, atols, bears sleeping in caves, fly along with migrating ducks in your ultra light, fly next to your real live flight in real-time on your laptop... Yeah I can understand his impatience, this sim will probably have more to offer than you may yet understand 😉

I could wait until July. But August in a no-buy.

September OK again?

This is the most important line in the interview IMHO:

"Basically, we're not doing a flight simulation, we're doing a platform."
