What do you want out of the camera system?

Most people would agree the camera system in FSX was really bad, right? I'm not a huge X-Plane fan, but they seem to have gotten it right for the most part.

The features of the XCamera and the XPRealistic plugins for XPlane as the core default camera system.

Agreed, follow along with what x plane has done. Easy presets, smooth transitions between the presets and easy way of moving around the cabin. This was one of the things I really liked about x plane when I first started using that Sim.

Although I do like the idea of entering and exciting the aircraft and being able to walk around as can be done in Microsoft Flight as well as P3d. This really gives the immersion of "being there".

Yeah, i think the Xplane default camera system works very well with the presets and all.

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

I just want to be able to move around freely and save a view if I want. Nothing crazy, keep it simple.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I'd like the X-Plane camera system of saving a set of custom numeric keypad views per aircraft, saved in the folder for each aircraft. That's incredibly useful, because I don't need to see the same closeup views of the instrument panel on every aircraft.

The saved camera views should also work for views outside the aircraft -- chase plane, etc.

Plus the usual mapping options for moving the camera with mouse, custom assigned buttons on HOTAS controllers, and TrackIR support.

1. Save view mode like XP "CTRL-1" and switch to view "1" etc

2. Walk mode to inspect aircraft with ability to run.

3. Walk in terminals and into jetway, plane view.

4. The usual modes like tower view, fly-by, landing view etc.

5. Easy cinematic view creator.

6. Car driving view to get to work.

7. Cabin passenger view.

8. Service vehicle / pushback truck views.

9. Gear view, Engine view.

10. Plane spotting views.

I really like fixed external views, especially fixed from behind, which I always add when not included with a plane.

Microsoft could easily purchase ChasePlane, improve it and make it the default camera system. I'd be glad with something like that.

Or, they could see how ChasePlane works and build something similar. Either way, I think ChasePlane has the functionality I'd like to see as default in FS2020.

Yes I forgot about the walk-around mode, entering aircraft animations and walk in the jetway from the terminal.

For me also a nice recording system (beside some Chaseplane-similar system) would be very important!

It should , as Rob stated, be able to replay the 3rd party addons also to 100% (unless it is currently now, as example with PMDG or A2A aircrafts)

I would much rather Microsoft focus on a good flight recording system (I don't mean record to video, but actual recording of all flight data).

Agree, I also wish a true recording system which plays back gauges, flaps, trims, ailerons, rudder etc. And for the video replay too as it helps analyzing what went wrong in a botched landing for instance... and making nicer videos for YT 😉

And a replay which is not optional for the aircraft dev. ! I fly A2A aircraft a lot but I find annoying that they disable some replay features that work for instance in the Lotus L-39. Much more important than a walk around the aircraft, a novelty which wears off fast.

I agree it should come with the main features of EZCA / Chaseplane and a complete recording / replay function.

Yes, including the motion effects both internal and external.

In XP I achieved motion using a beta version of X-Camera that exposes the camera to lua script.
