    Yes,
Use the Dx10 Toolbox to convert the 8 bit textures, page 68 of the manual.
If you have a problem with just this one texture, you can use DxtBmp to open
it and save it as a 16 bit texture.

  2. Reader's post in [DX10] No screenshots in fullscreen mode was marked as the answer
You must make sure that the full screen resolution set in your FSX display settings matches the resolution of your monitor, as set in Windows.
Then the V key will work.

It is also possible to run FSX in "full screen windowed" mode, also known as "Pseudo Full Screen".
This has the advantage of always being at the correct resolution, as although it fills the screen with no borders, it is still in a window.
A second advantage is that cockpit tooltips work, as they do not in Dx10 FSX full screen mode.

How to achieve this is a little complex but if there were a demand, I could add a guide to this thread.

    Regards,
    Nick
  3. Reader's post in How to Exclude Effects? was marked as the answer
Just to add a little flesh to the bones of Paul's answer....

    C:\ProgramData|Dx10SceneryFixer\Dx10.ini

Open the .ini file with Notepad and you, (or at least I do) will see

    [ExcludeEffects]
    ballast.fx=1

you can add to this list.

If it's not there, create it under the last existing line.

  4. Reader's post in I need help, FSX doesn't start in DX10 was marked as the answer
    I suggest the following.

I assume that you haven't replaced any Windows system files like he did.
If you have, download Direct X again and re-install it.

Make sure you have absolutely no remnants of the ENB series files in your FSX folder.
Probably the easiest way to make sure you catch every one is to temporarily copy all the files back into the FSX root folder, which should highlight them all. Then delete them.

The same goes for SweetFX, if you have ever had it installed.
Complete, it works well with DX10, if you like to mess with the picture.
However, if bits are missing it can cause either a totally black screen or, as you may well have found, the complete disappearance of FSX.

If its any consolation, I have experienced both and each time found I had not removed all the SweetFX files, through carelessness.
