  1. Also, for the record, 2020 performs well on my system (i5-11600K, 3080ti, 64GB RAM, 4K) while 2024 runs just fine at a fixed 30fps at similar settings. Which illustrates really that the best thing to do is try MSFS 2024 for yourself For every "It's dreadful" there are several "It's wonderfuls" and you and anyone else wringing their hands are left with with no clear answer, because there isn't one.
  2. This has happened to me twice. All the settings are kept in "C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs". Backing up the "wgs" folder seems to be enough and it is only a few MBs.
  3. Since you asked: Uncommunicative means saying nothing. The presence of arrogance cannot therefore be determined, nor can the reason for the lack of communication. Nevertheless, the post contains assertions on both subjects. Possibly, there is a historical personal reason for such a bitter post.
  4. So many contradictions in just one sentence.
  5. Given the present world events, you are to be congratulated on finding something ludicrous to post that isn't in fact true.
  6. It's an unforseen consequence of an attempt to protect children from the worst excesses of the internet. The fines for non-compliance are draconian, so imgur appear to have decided that the best way forward for them is to switch off their service to the UK. Who could possibly have anticipated that might happen. Here is one of my favourite images, credit to its author:
  7. A few moments of research on the internet produces this: The last reply being: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Your experience was hardly similar. You still have access to the product that you paid for. The OP has no access to the product that they were given, albeit, by mistake. Yours is in your account at Orbx Direct and in your copy of Orbx Central, available to install: Not really "tucked away in an obscure corner of the "my downloads" page".
  8. I was also a cynic, but this kind of quality has made me change my mind. The overall impression is superb, if you go nitpicking, less so, but that is not what photogrammetry, or TIN, is about at all. Note that the image quality has been degraded. The direct link is much better quality: https://i.postimg.cc/m2YJv6xv/719.jpg
  9. The rest of the world looks on in awe. There are other countries by the way.
  10. What a waste of two young lives. RIP.
  11. See if you can tell the difference:
  12. I would think that problem is local. The download is working here.
  13. You seem to be massively overthinking this. They are not enabled by default. Indeed, you can enable or disable the whole World Update or just a part of it, As an example, EDDM is a hand crafted model and a part of World Update 6. You might want to use the Aerosoft one instead. They do not work together If they are listed as being able to be enabled, regardless of whether there is an MSFS 2020 marker, they will work.
  14. @DaveH There is a whole topic on this, also featuring JYW, here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/620913-where-is-the-fsexe-located/ If you read it through, you should be able to find your answer and if it turns out that yours is encrypted, there is even a way to remedy that, as well as some more good advice.

If you do "need" it, you are still a P3D user and there is really no reason for the developer to reward you for that by reducing the price, just because there are now newer and more popular flight simulators. Disclaimer: It's not necessarily my own view, but as ever, there are two sides to every discussion and in the absence of any (Carenado) developers commenting, I am taking theirs for debating purposes only.

However, if the reason that sales have dropped off your cliff is that hardly anyone uses P3D anymore, then hardly anyone will be even looking to buy add-ons, regardless of price. Most people do not buy something that they have no need of, just because it's cheap.
  17. Reader replied to IanHarrison's topic in Hangar Chat
I am no businessman, but if sales have "dropped off a cliff" because of MSFS, isn't that because the demand has evaporated, regardless of the price? If, as may be the case, that P3D users have moved en masse to MSFS, it seems unlikely that they will still be in the market for addons for a simulator that they no longer use. If the issue is not price, even a fraction of the sales at the asking price might be better for them than the same fraction at a discount.
  18. It is not really a true comparison between FSX, which remained unchanged from 2008 to the present day and MSFS, which changes on an almost daily basis. There were those who took up the FSX mantle and enabled it to do all the things that the Microsoft team might have done, if they had not been disbanded in January 2009. Indeed, some were dead set against payware, some found that their lives were taken over by freeware and had to make it pay and some were lucky enough to have the talent and the time without needing the money. It is rarely just a simple matter of choice, for example, the MAAM project died as a result of a well-publicised disagreement over whether it should be freeware or payware. To name but one of so many, the Project Tupolev Tu 154B. It is a true work of both art and love that can stand comparison with any flight simulator add-on. AIG cut their teeth on FSX. The Manfred Jahn/Jan Visser C 47 remains one of the most fully featured freeware addons and has yet to be matched, either by free or payware. There are plenty more.
  19. I sometimes wonder why anyone would want to be a developer at all. So much work to redevelop for every change and a customer expectation that it is either free of charge or heavily discounted. At one time of day, it was a passion and for some developers, it clearly still is, but the daily grind of "where is my free/discounted update that I am entitled to because I decided to change simulators" must eat away at that enthusiasm.
  20. Facts have nothing to do with it and there is no dispute. It's not a claim, it is an off-the-cuff remark that in his case has been misinterpreted as a question that needed an answer and a question and in yours, some kind of challenge. I am quite sure that he is capable of formulating his own replies without your help. Please stop trying to create conflict where there is none, something that is also "typical" in these forums.
  21. I am afraid that my remark : "what's the point of all that RAM, if it doesn't get used? was rhetorical, but thanks for the lecture anyway.
  22. With my 3080 ti 12GB card, it's absolutely fine at 4k and at 144hz as well. Most of the time it uses around 10 to 11GB, what's the point of all that RAM, if it doesn't get used? Here is an image for those who prefer to fly a frame rate counter over a flight simulator: The frame rate is locked in the Nvidia Control Panel. It keeps temperatures down and stops the simulator from wasting resources chasing frame rates. That's been a valid way of optimising MS flight simulator hardware resource use for, at the very least, 24 years.
  23. A quick look at the video on You Tube shows you who it is by, you may be missing the point.
