  1. One thing none of the current sims have that Im aware of is haze whose appearance is greatly affected by sun and shadow. the rolling clouds video shows this well. this means we'll have darker horizons where clouds gather and much brighter horizons where its clear. In FSX and P3D it was pretty much just a color of haze based on visibility only and it was uniform all around.

The problem with the flighsim from Microsoft is that I have lost all interest in simming in P3D. It just looks outdated and boring, even before MSFS2020 is released. The first new flight I will be firing up is going to be in MSFS2020. Is it just me?

Not a big deal for some, but for me one thing that turns me off of X-Plane is the time it takes to load up. Hopefully this new MSFS will be better.

Since MSFS Devs are surfing this forum, I thought it'd be a great opportunity to let them know which aircrafts we want in the release version. Personally I want a well modeled A350 & 773ER. Not super detailed systems wise. Basic options will do. What about you guys?

  6. We currently have - FS9, FSX, FSXSE, FSW, MSFLIGHT, XP11, P3DVx.x, AeroFly and others It looks to me as if MSFS2020 has become the chosen abbreviated name for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 right now. It's concise enough, tells you who made it, what the product is and when it was released etc but I'm thinking FS11 might be better, after all it is the next version. But would that suggest too much an upgraded version of FSX. There is always a danger that MSFS2020 would get shortened to FS20 then where would we be? Remember the win95, win98 naming system - great thinking. Ed

There's a cheap flight sim built into Google Earth. It's daytime and summer only, but hopefully the new MSFS will look as good.

Something that is often greatly overlooked in flight simulators is the camera options. The availability of some really good camera options and control at launch can make a day and night difference on how the game will be perceived by people watching YouTube movies, live streams and screenshots made within the game. It will also help attract people to the game who are more into the creative options that such a game will present. Pretty pictures help a lot to attract people. So what camera modes will be important? I've listed some that I think will be the most important: Creative free camera Is not attached to the plane and can be moved anywhere in the world. Has 6 d…

As much as I wouldn't like to if I explore my deepest simmer feeling, the announcment of MS FS2020 was Great News for me, and relighted my interest for the civil flight simulation genre... I've been wondering about many "features" that will come with this, I guess revolutionary, design by MS, including the "streamed" approach. But while we do not have access to further details, and I really look fwd for this months additional infos by the Dev Team, I start thinking about how it could work. Aerowinx PSX, by far the most accurate and rewarding simulation of a Boeing 744, has a sort of "distributed" flight model, when several instances of the main program run, in t…

Couldn’t find a list of known aircraft in the new MFS2020. I have seen: A320-200NEO DA-40 extra 300 But what else has been shown in previews? I know the official statement from Microsoft was there would be widebody and narrow body aircraft in addition to GA aircraft. Would they make both Boeing and airbus models? Also, realistically how soon can third party developers begin working on new aircraft for MFS2020? Would Microsoft give the major developers what they need to know in advance so they can have products ready to go around the time of the sims release? Or would the third party developers need to wait until release to even begin design…

  14. Some of us have insisted vehemently that if our current addon aircraft, that we paid good money for over the years, are not compatible with the new MSFS 2020 sim, we won't buy it. If the new sim really is a revolutionary new simulation, not just a remake of FSX, I would not want it to be held back by compatibility with existing FSX or P3D aircraft. I have purchased many over the years - for FS9, FSX, and for just about every version of P3D. Of all of these aircraft I now fly only 3 or 4 :RealAir Duke, A2A Bonanza and Comanche and PMDG DC-6. And I fly these in P3Dv4.5. Of the 20 or so other a/c in my hangar, they are out of date, or else were poor quality to begin with, an…

Did anyone receive email notification from Microsoft that "Insider" material is now available for viewing? I didn't. I successfully logged into the Insider page and viewed all the wonderful screenshots and videos. But I had the impression that all of us "elite" Insiders would be notified by email when new information is posted.

  18. So do you think Microsoft will one day upgrade Windows Maps and maybe even BING Online Maps to use the new MSFS engine (a reduced version of course)? It could really give Google a blow and give Microsoft an impulse to buy more photogrammetry data like Google does. Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to see other parts of the world along with a realistic presentation of the actual weather over there? As we can already see, the presentation of the world is miles ahead of Google Maps/Earth, so it would be a slightly missed chance if they wouldn't do anything with it. They could also use the opportunity to bring their mapping solution to the XBOX, which would give it anothe…

Just a thought. As it seems from what we've seen so far there will be areas filled with detailed 3D objects created from photogrammetry (like Chicago, Seattle and San Francisco) and other areas that will be filled in with plain aerial images and a building/roads/object overlay based on other data (similar like X-Plane does with Ortho4XP). Now technically it should be possible to substitute flat aerial images with 3D objects created from photogrammetry once you've got enough data by using machine learning. A warehouse will have a distinct look from the skies for example, as do silo's, trees, parked cars/buses and certain buildings. Take the distinct red roofed buildin…

Why did MS started up MFS again? I do not know, but it must be something about believing their new technology would revolutionize the game and make it superior to the other Flightsim games we have today. I believe it is all about Asure and AI technology that the other do not have. What do you think?

This is probably premature, but I was curious to see how TTS has evolved since I last researched it several years ago. Lo and behold, Azure seems to have taken things up a notch or two using neural networks. Even "standard" TTS tech seems to have made great strides in believability. Take a look here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/cognitive-services/text-to-speech/ Do you think MS will leverage Azure TTS for ATC in the new MSFS? I think it would greatly reduce the amount of effort required to implement ATC--no need to hire talent, book studio time, and record thousands of words and phrases per voice--thus freeing up development resources and m…

  25. MikeT707 has suggested twice now that people suggest what they would like to see in the next update (Aug 15th 2019) but both times his suggestion is ignored. I think its a good one so what I would like to see is more information and unedited in game video of "real weather" and the cloud formations associated with that weather (Im looking for lots of variety). I also want to see weather transitions like if you are in clear weather and you've got a front approaching your position - do the clouds and visibility change as you scan the horizon? Also - flying through cloud layers... i'd like to see if upper clouds really do cast shadows or change the lighting for lower l…
