We know that my local MediaMarkt site has put it up as a product. Now this doesn't mean anything, but anyways, interesting.

So yeah...weeds... I just read an argument over 'dirt'... because apparently there cannot be dirt in a sim. there cannot be an area of ground that does NOT have grass or trees or something. and so I think having both grass and brownish weeds would do wonders. I don't know how to stop people from complaining that the sand is 'blurry' but Im sure there's something. Sea oats maybe? those low flat green plants that spread out in the sand? seriously though, I think weeds would be great to cover brownish patches. or a better detail texture methodology than shows up in the much discussed elephant scene. if not clear -- Im serious about the weeds. Its…

The announcement of the new MSFS is a thunder among flight simmers. It also causes heated disputes over the direction it is going. Everyone has his own preference, and wishes MSFS be the realization of his own desire. MS also has its own agenda, which should consider but not equal to our wishes. Now this can sound correct and boring, and I will offer another perspective. The world is changing. It's going digital, aka virtual. I have no doubt that we will enter the Matrix sooner or later, in this form or another. This process has already begun, and we simmers are among the very first batch of people that have tasted the beauty of the virtual. Notice the word "simulati…

It's been several weeks since the last update and we are still waiting So Microsoft please say a few words it's not like it's gonna take you a lot of time to write one paragraph or two. I don't understand about what's the deal of making us wait, it's very annoying.

1. For 2020, volumetric clouds is a must. 2d clouds just dont cut it, enough said. 2. Proper flight models / dynamics and ground handling. 3. Must have an option to buy base product outright. 4. Multi-core support / optimized graphics engine. 5. Airport creator tool for anybody (easy to use). You basically zoom in on the map, generate airport project and start adding objects and more detail. 6. A way to share airports and libraries (textures and objects etc). And a way to automatically install others airports. 7. Support for p3d and XP airports, or a converter tool. 8. Support for p3d and XP aircraft and plugins, or a converter tool. …

I found this Microsoft session/presentation very interesting, as it could explain where all that high resolution scenery might be coming from. It also shows how cities are mapped in 3D. Modeling the world for Mixed-Reality - BDL2042

In the trailer shown at E3, I couldn't help but notice that 0:58 minutes in, there seemed to be an image of the Synthetic Vision System (a system that creates a 3D model of the world around you in a glass cockpit display). From what I am aware, if it truely is the Synthetic Vision System, FS2020 would be the only sim to have it out of the box. I have posted my observation on the flightsim.com forum yet no one seemed to care about it and despite my searches, I have found no one making any point of the system quite clearly being shown in the trailer. I'm pretty sure it is the Synthetic Vision System as the very next scene shows a "normal" glass cockpit where the ground…

Like many of you, I'm a big fan and follower of Froogle on YouTube. I always look forward to his wonderful weekly updates about flight sim news and add-ons. About 7:30PM ET today (Wednesday, June 19th), I got notification that Froogle had just uploaded a new video about the just-announced Microsoft Flight Simulator for next year. I immediately dropped what I was doing and eagerly watched Froogle's new video. I was stunned at what I saw and heard. First of all, Froogle's video was titled "Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 -- Who Cares!" At first I thought that the name of the video might be facetious, just to make sure people clicked on the link. But no, the video was an inex…

Everyone know that Microsoft Flight (2012) had all mentioned in title. It's still my favorite flight game I ever played. Now we are getting Microsoft Flight Simulator, in traler we again can see Icon A5, is there a chance we are going to get Boeing PT-17 Stearman and VAN's RV again? Yes, we got big planes now as well which is cool, I am happy that hardcore flight sim players are finally getting beautiful game to play, I will rather stick to smaller planes, doing missions, hunting for Aerocaches. Do you think new flighg sim will include it? I am still today enjoying playing Microsoft Flight Missions, Challanges, Jobs and hunting Aerocaches. There are 350 of them …

Since the release of FSX, 13 years ago, the basic landscape of the FS world has incredibly changed for the better with OrbX fat regions, Global+Vector+OpenLC, Allen Kriesman's Ultimate Terrain sceneries and Pilot's and some free meshes. What we see below has nothing to do with the horrible (for me, YMMV) default flatish ground. The trailer is impressive but we don't see much of the ground except for some landmark landscapes and urban areas. As sat imagery is not high res everywhere in the world (or at least imagery for the general public 😇), I wonder whether what we have now will the baseline for what MS willl bring to the table where no imagery is physically or co…

https://web.archive.org/web/20190610193945/https://fsi.microsoftstudios.com/features/planes/ User on Reddit found this. Also possible it’s a placeholder only but A380? Concorde? Air Force 1? That would be something.

do you think msfs forums opening will be the beginning of the end for avsim ? there is no reason to stay here because xp11/p3d/fsx will be dead anyway and we will be able to interact with msfs developers in their forums and there will be much more people there because all of the fs communities combined will post on it what would be the point of coming here ?

Am I the only one thinking the following: HOW is M$ bringing this back around again, as an updated version, when they sold off the rights? (or so I thought based on info I am not sure I can talk about yet)??? Didn't the education / business licenses get sold to Lockheed and the entertainment license to Dovetail? Or have I been under a rock since I left AVSIM? I AM NOT trolling, just curious...as I have not seen it mentioned anywhere....or did M$ pull their magic hidden text again in those contracts?

I have a lurking 'red alert' in the back of my neck about how seasons are going to be accomplished in this new sim. I hope that this concern can/will be put to rest quick, because seasons is that one worldwide thing that has not been covered in any interview I have seen or heard. Just hoping we will not have a single season limitation. I'm sure there are a ton of ideas about seasons and how important that are in a flight sim. If I had my way some of the seasonal features would include but not limited to: accurate foliage color change complete with leaves falling and blowing in the wind. Wet leaves make runways/taxiways more slippery. accumulat…

As much as there's an interest in being able to just get up and go in the new sim, I also hope things aren't too restricted. I'm a keyboard flier (can't use a stick because...long story) and MS made the odd choice to include as part of the cfgs that keyboard response who slow down as the aircraft started moving. The default settings are okay for little puddle jumpers, but anything bigger/faster, I have to go into the files and change the settings. The defaults are too reduce sensitivity at 150 kts, and even further at 250, which I double to 300 and 500. If I download an airliner, for example, flying using the default settings is impossible!

Does anybody know if this thing will have real proper 3d clouds or only the 2d billboard kind? Over in XP, they have xEnviro developers working on 3d clouds, and whilst its still early days, the realism effect is like night and day when flying through them.

https://venturebeat.com/2019/06/17/microsoft-flight-simulator-reveals-game-passs-potential/ Good read and interesting take on why game pass or a subscription will be good for flight sims. A few quotes below but I suggest taking the 5 minutes to read his whole article. "lFight Simulator has a significant and passionate fan base. At the same time, it’s also not going to appeal to the 9 million people buying Marvel’s Spider-Man in its first couple of months of release. It’s a hardcore re-creation for flight fans. Players are so passionate because the game-development market is broken and no one is serving them." "The time and money that goes toward a mid-tier…

Like many of you I also suspect MS team reading through these forums so until they open their forums and while they are still here....MS team I kindly request your team to get in contact with major developers release SDK and work with them so by the time MSFS is released most add on developers will already have learned the SDK and converted scenery or aircraft instead of us waiting for MSFS to release then wait until developers get SDK, learn SDK then publish this will result in customers not buying MSFS straight away until developers learn the SDK which can take ages. I know some companies may already have access to SDK like Aerosoft but please don’t ignore flytampa…
