I saw post on Reddit of a forum post that the devs accidentally made public, with instructions for how to uninstall the Tech Alpha 1 in order to download The Alpha. There was a screenshot that showed the context menu for the Windows 10 Store App called Technical Alpha 1. This makes me concerned whether the official game will be published exclusively on the Windows Store, which seems likely given that it is a Microsoft product. A Windows Store release may be problematic, because Store apps run on a platform called UWP. UWP apps are stored in locked-down WindowsApps folder with convoluted and often encrypted files. It can also support 5 layers of DRM like it does with a few…

My first inccursion into the world of flight simulation "devlopment" was BAO's AAF ( "Aircraft & ADventure Factory" ). For MSFS there were some nice tools available, AIR file editors mostly, but never nothing like what I had the chance to get my hands on for the first time when Austin created the Plane-Maker and companion Airfoil-Maker apps available. Since MFS is going to bring really new features FDM-wise, but also scenery and weather wise, I wonder if it'll debut with some tools of this kind, or just the usual SDK mostly directed at the "professionals" ? Would really like to know something like this will become available.

Anyone wondered why we haven’t seen any wing flex in any of the videos yet? I would have thought wing flex would be fundamental to their 1000 point forces calculation as the angle of the surfaces would change and hence result in a different force applied. Therefore I feel like it would be implemented early in the build so if it is planned to still be added, it would just be a visual thing...

Given that all the "exclusive" content posted in the MSFS insider area is reposted to public channels within minutes of release. And given that all Alpha participants are chosen from the pool of Insider members. What is the benefit to Insider membership for those not picked to participate in the Alpha? This is a legitimate question meant to stimulate MS/Asobo to consider other ways to increase the value of the Insider program. I tacitly acknowledge that not everyone can participate in the Alpha, and my comment is not intended to imply any such entitlement. In fact, I'm specifically suggesting alternative perks completely separate from any testing or e…

It seems that MSFS will be included for no additional cost with an Xbox game pass subscrpition. https://www.xbox.com/en-SG/games/microsoft-flight-simulator

Hi MsovO It would be nice to add Spacial disorientation to the sim according to extreme manouvres or weather episodes in particular places of the world, where all instruments go out of control and the pilot hallucinations apply by a visual distortion of the world independent to the real sim to increment impact possibilities in a visually correct plane position, with severe color hue changes, and of course twisters, waterspouts, and fuselage dynamic damage on those 1000 points, and we want wreck crashing physics according to speed and surface of impact to see if we can get away with it or not after crashing, so red bloody screen apply if it's fatal.

Flight Simulator X, released over ten years ago, included several default airlines, including Orbit Airlines, World Travel Airlines, Pacifica Airlines, etc. For purposes of nostalgia, I'm requesting that these default airlines make a return in the new version of Microsoft Flight simulator. Maybe even modernize and clean up their liveries a bit. What do you think?

On the homepage my understanding of the following sentence "Starting 01.23 – 01.27 you will be able to update your machine spec information" actually meant that Asobo were only opening a small window of 5 days (between 01.23 - 01.27) where they'd allow Insiders to update their DxDiag. After 01.27 they'd close the update window. However I think I've interpreted this incorrectly as today (01.28) I still appear to be able to update my DxDiag within the "My Profile" section of the website. It appears then that Asobo wrote this sentence to mean that at some point between 01.23 - 01.27, all Insiders will be able to update their DxDiag, an unlimited amount of times with no …

Many people have been Alpha testing MsF2020 fo a while now and here and there they show in game screenshots which of course look very nice...but what about real feedback?...I mean is there a place where they actually talk about how the whole experience is for them?...so that we can also get a bit of insight?...or is that already happening but I just don't know where to look?...

A good suggestion by Baber20 that I think deserves its own thread. What would be the harm to now open up the alpha forum access to everyone that applied for the alpha. I’d happily sign an NDA and take read only access to the forum. The content being released as much as we appreciate it is at a snail pace. Cmon MS/Asobo help out the guys that missed out.

One thing that has irked me since I started using fligtsim is that in many situations you don't have to hit a building to get a crash, some times all you have to do fly past, and not all that close. The other day I was making a flight that I had tried before and crashed due to weather. Landed, taxied all the way in, was about to park...invisible building crash.

Hey guys ! For the next Alpha, I was thinking that one thing could be good/fair for us desperates but even for Microsoft: What do you think if MS clearly state their criteria to be accepted in the next Alpha. For us at least, we would have an idea why we have not been chosen but also what to do if we really want to join the testing team. And for MS, they will receive requests mostly from profiles that meet the criteria. Which would be helpful also for them resulting in less headache. Could be an idea 😉

Dear (highly skilled developers) at Asobo, I was wondering how the 3D infrastructure with a wide footprint will fit on the uneven airport terrain. In another simulator that has uneven airport terrain, one needs to either flatten the infrastructure area or have the wide 3D infrastructure half float, half sink in the terrain... Flattening part of the airport make the transition with the other (sloped) part not so smooth considering the elevation resolution. I just wish and hope, MSFS engine will handle this in a clever way. Perhaps adapt the bottom vertices of the objects to make it anchored in the terrain? Or another clever algorithm to automatically ad…

When we start downloading data from Azure servers I don't know if saturation will occur time to time causing loading problems at peak hours, but what about our uploading speed? That photorrealistic textures cached in our systems could be uploaded to someone else needing a push, like P2P does. I'm convinced to the scalability, resilency and so from Azure datacenters all around the globe, but even Windows 10 does similar with their Update system, if enabled. I don't remember if in the survey they ask for that or only downstream speed?

I only have 8gb ram and I never had problems in any software but it seems like msfs is only chosing people with 32+gb ram for tech alpha, why ? it is quite worrying, if they're not confident at this stage that below 32gb ram, we may have OOM errors with specs like mine

A fully automated copilot system in which the copilot will be able to take over and perform all necessary procedures in the event that something would happen to the pilot. These include before take off procedures in flight and also landing. Full and comprehensive flight tutorials included in the sim which show step by step procedures on how to fly different types of aircraft. With fore example how to perform ILS landings, how to take off with different types of aircraft and so on. And please make it possible for these tutorials to be as clear and concise as possible with no overcomplicated language and terminology that only a rocket scientist could unde…

Good morning I have been a user of Flight Simulator for many years and of course with the possibility of a new simulator being presented I have been reading very carefully everything that has been written about the new Flight Simulator 2020, but there is a detail that I have not yet seen and that I think is extremely important for a simulator that wants to be a representation of reality. In my opinion, one of the biggest gaps that has always existed in Flight Simulator was the ILS and VFR approaches based on reality.there are hundreds of airports with curved approaches, which were never implemented in the simulator for example in the case of my country LPMA (Madeira),…

According to FSElite https://fselite.net/news/37-confirmed-exhibitors-announced-so-far-for-flightsimexpo-2020/ there will be one and only one simulator officially be presented at FSEXpo 2020 Las Vegas. It's X-Plane and I already imagine Austin in his enchanting style on stage. No mention of MFS. No mention of P3D either. Of course, that's a preliminary announcement and MS and LM might just have missed the term. Kind regards, Michael

I hope that MSFS has decent crash and collision detection. It is not very realistic to see a plane bounce off a building as if nothing happened. I want a hard landing to actually damage the plane, if it would in real life. Not to mention pulling up too hard on some planes should rip a wing off. I hope a future feature discovery video covers this. https://gifs.com/gif/plane-crash-fsx-4QwJm0

It would be cool if MFS2020 will allow forcefeedback feature like in p3d or FSX. I know there is no more forcefeedback joystick for sale now but why not develope new one ! (dream on). I use one with p3d and fsforce and I won't be able to do without for the trim, with this new sim I think flying without this kind of joystick will be sad.. What do you think of this !
