I'm adding a gen4 m.2 ssd to my system. I already have mfs2020 and the OS on a separate SATA SSDs. What would be the better option; use the m.2 for the OS or for the simulator? I'm not concerned about initial load times. Would mfs2020 performance increase due to faster loading of scenery during flight if it was on the m.2?

I had a look around with the search, but I couldn't find any relevant entries. Apologies if this is a known issue. Since the latest update I found that all of my steam gauges appear very bright & washed out in the hangar. See pic. Same in all aircraft with steam gauges. In-game seems fine. Also with the Cessna 152, the side cockpit windows appear very strange. See pic. Only seems to be really noticeable on the 152/152 aerobat. In game seems fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Did I break something or did Asobo break something? Thanks!

My FPS have dropped from averaging in mid 40fps to 25fps since the updates, nothing else was changed. Wondering if a clean installation might fix things. Has anyone tried this before I go to the trouble of it. I did this with XP11 and it would help

Hello all! Since the begining, I can export flight plans but I am not able to connect LNM to FS2020 by IP adress and port number from a remote PC (error 7). All is OK if I use LNM on the PC runing FS2020. I tried again after uninstalling my firewall on both machines, no success. Am I wrong somewhere or is this kind of connection not yet supported?

Hey guys, I did some test on the manual caching after installing 1.9.3.0. First weird things is the size of all area downloaded, a total of 7.26 MB for 7 high details regions on the cache tool but on the current data consumption I used 1 GB. Secondly, if after the cache is full of the regions I want, and my internet is fast enough, no problem, I got this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Jjykh1_91QnSqtTkto4L49XV_JmPh4Kq/view?usp=sharing But, if my connection is too slow I got this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z1cbdMkXI6zyUz-A0T-o79UprMAYmR__/view?usp=sharing If i am disabling bing data world graphics and photogrammetry, I got the sam…

I , like many others found the elevator/ailerons too sensitive. Then I discovered VJoy Curves an excellent piece of free software that enables the sensitivities to be adjusted. It worked well prior to the recent 1.9.3.0 update but since then it crashes the sim. I was wondering if anyone has managd to get it working in the latest update and if so, how? Bob P

Default Niagara Falls have photogrammetry but the actual falls are totally broken. They are beyond ugly, they are simply unbearable. So I have decided to try and fix that. This pack features enhanced scenery for Niagara Falls area (Canada/USA) with animated color-changing night illumination of the falls, to compliment default photogrammetry and autogen areas and default terrain fixes for maximum VFR flight enjoyment. Unfortunately the terrain editor is very buggy, so it's not possible to completely fix them. However using a combination of terrain terraforming polygons and imported photogrammetry I made them as good as I can, considering the broken state of the SDK. Please…

Microsoft Defender put a stop sign in front of me this morning when I started MFS. Never had it occur before. Warned about content, but allowed me to select and option to trust it and allow it to run. Only happened once. Let MFS fully load, then quit to desktop, rebooted, and MFS started normally. Assume my first response stays in place. Anyone else had this happen?

I finally got round to installing this and it's great - 110% to the guys working on it. However a couple of users error type queries have arise, if someone could indulge me... Despite running the checklists I couldn't get the engines to start and spool up - had to resort to Ctrl-E. I must have missed a step somewhere. The display readouts at the top of the panel (altitude, speed, heading V/S etc.) are very dim and I cannot for the life of me find the button or knob to make them brighter. Found all the MFD brightness controls but not that one. There is something about bringing an aircraft to life from "cold and dark", though (minus the bit where I got stuck…

I know you only have a certain amount of time before clearance is canceled once requested so I usually get the FMC etc all set up in the A320NX project so I'm ready for pushback and taxi before requesting the clearance. I've noticed a few times now it seems to "lose" my clearance after takeoff though? It keeps routing me on com freqs but I end up with extra options of "request IFR clearance for instrument FP" and "retry with last IFR <something or other I forgot>". So I can refile in flight, but now it's lost my planned cruise altitude from the flight planning screen and I have to start asking for altitude increases. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong s…

So I randomly ended up flying through Germany up into Finland the last few weeks checking out the handcrafted airports as I went. I was flying over in Europe as I tend to fly late in the evening here in the US and I wanted daylight flights in live time of day/weather. Problem is the weather is getting pretty rough up there now. So I need suggestions on other places with some nice scenery etc to fly through. I typically run 45-90 minute legs in either the TBM or one of the jets if it’s a longer trip. Any suggestions? I thought about Africa somewhere or Australia etc but would rather not just randomly start trying to pick places and hope.

I thought I once saw a Hobbs flight time meter in the TBM, but searching everywhere I cannot see one. The real plane has one above the circuit breaker panel. Also no dedicated avionics master switch, but I don’t think it exists in the real bird. Thoughts? Thanks!

So I'm having a pleasant flight from LA to San Diego, ATC clears me down to 2000 feet, about to begin my ILS into San Diego, when I lost my Avionics. They all froze. Attitude was a 20* bank to the right, speed 200 knots, altitude 3610 feet in a 1200 fps descent. All the instruments stayed there while I did a visual approach and landing into San Diego. I've heard of the screens going black but not freezing. I'm in the TBM 930 when this happened.

I’ve recently moved on from VFR to IFR in the Grand Caravan. And I have a few questions I’m hoping someone can help with. Sorry if this is too much in one post... but it’s all related to trying to get a bit of realism. 1. When doing an ILS approach, at what point should you normally disengage the AP and hand fly the landing - assuming you can see the runway? 2. My understanding is that commercial real-world flight plans typically don’t include the runway assignments and therefore the approach procedure. ATC or dispatchers will advise those before takeoff, on route, or on approach. Is that true? 3. Using the MSFS in-game flight planner, if I plan an IFR fli…

To whoom would you recommend MSFS in its current state? Multiple choice. Gamers (= w/o no real interest in flight simulation) looking for achievements Gamers looking for social interaction Gamers interested in travel, sightseeing People with average computers and internet connections People with interest in flight without a lot of gaming- and configuration experience Experienced GA simmers (VFR & IFR) Experienced tube-liner simmers Experienced simmers prefering realistic scenery Experienced simmers prefering a realistic flight environment (weather, airports, aerodynamics, systems)

It seems I have a problem turning autopilot buttons in Caravan after the last patch. No matter what button I press NAV, VS, HDG and etc and got lit momentarily and then go to off position . I thought may be there is a conflict with G1000 mod and removed it. However, it didn't change anything! So now I just curious if anyone has similar problem?

Since I got my hands on MFS I couldn't resist "exploring" it's ".CFG" files, following the work of many modders contributing to make them more realistic / plausible according to data on their RW counterparts and trying to glimpse what's new in the "Modern" FDM... One of the things stumped me when looking into some of the "flight_model.cfg" files, like those of the Extra 300 and the C172 was a value of "-1" set as fuselage_length ??? Indeed, if you open those files you'll find: fuselage_length = -1 Setting this value to realistic real world data certainly makes a difference in the flight dynamics, and laying with any values away from it, in this and oth…

I decided to upgrade my system from an 8700k at 5ghz, to that of an i9-10900k, mainly because of gaining the cores for rendering that would help with that. I pretty much figured i'd break even in sims and games. So I have a baseline test i was using in msfs2020, eglc clear weather runway 27, in the MR20 ovation from carenado (it hits the fps a bit harder than the 152 cessna which is typically 45 plus here). On the old system with high settings (4k), i was achieving 40 fps on the runway. I failed to note the cpu ratio while in sim, but the cpu % is typically 19-25%. The new 10900k i've tried setting two cores to 53 and the rest at 51, vcore in bios is around …

So i had already moved the flight simulator install location to another drive. I decided i wanted to test a superfast nvme i had on hand. I used acronis to clone the drive, changed the drive letter to the old one but flight simulator wont launch but rather goes to install gaming services and then snaps back to the same screen. The issue i think stems around windows apps using volume id's to determine where things are installed. There is a registry key that shows these volumes and a way via Powershell to pull the listing as well. I'm unclear how to make the change safely. So for now i've just reverted to the old drive letter on the old drive and attempted a m…

I have, at best, a 50% success rate with Flight Simulator's Live Weather function. On two occasions I have seen FS inject what is very clearly 24-hour-old met conditions (or hopelessly wrong current data). So I pay for Rex Weather Force. Add a few airports to the Favorites list and go exploring. Two airports have nil data (and claims to have last been updated on Monday 1 January 0001 😏). One of those is a METAR station (and yes, the METAR is being broadcast to other sites). Other airports list state the last update as 26 hours ago. How is this good enough?
