Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Good afternoon, On the day MSFS 2020 was released, and after I downloaded it, I downloaded (also from the Microsoft Store) the ORBX London City scenery after first flying in London and viewing the stock scenery. The ORBX addon worked well for me but, of course, I read the multitude of posts in the forums from unhappy people on how this ORBX download actually changed some of the buildings and the Tower Bridge to appear worse than what appeared in the MSFS 2020 stock London scenery. Introduction: As we know MFS2020 at its current state does not support 3 display configuration, with the displays set at an angle (placing you in the middle of your cockpit with the ability to look sideways using left and right displays). What is missing is simultaneous multi projection (like the one available in X-Plane or some racing simulators), allowing defining parameters for side displays (field of view, size, angle). MFS2020 allows however (with nVidia surround) using 3 displays as one super ultra-wide display (in my case 5900x1080 with 70 pixels for bezel correction). Looking at trying out the CJ4 and Longitude a bit more. Was looking through airframe options in Simbrief for flight planning and didn’t see anything obvious. Just wondering if there are any options in there that are close to the CJ4 and Longitude for fuel and cruise altitude purposes. Or if anyone has a link to custom airframe settings for them.

Today I took a test flight with the TBM out of Tehran with live weather. There were few clouds but instant thunder and lightning was observed. Then I took off and there were just few cumulus cloud layers scattered around and still got the thunder and flashes. Only when the cloud area faded was there no thunder. It was very weird to have the lightning flashes and thunder sounds with just a few clouds on takeoff. I used the live weather so I did not tone it down. Did the new patch also exaggerate the thunder and lightning effects ?

I would like some more liveries for multiplayer traffic. Usually the aircraft don't even show up as the correct model if you dont have the same livery as the other person's. Ie a xcub will show up as a piper or something else. However, I dont want to have to scroll through pages and pages to use the livery I want. I normally fly with the same livery all the time so I just need 1-2 for myself. The rest I dont want to show up for me in liveries menu, but want to be available for multiplayer traffic. Been trying to search for an app for this, but haven't found it yet. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

There have been a few reported (other than the annoying vehicles stopped on the taxiway or driving on the runway whilst you are landing or taking off). The latest I have seen is at Iswahyudi (WARI) in Indonesia. A sodding great red & white tower with a green warning beacon on top, dead centre of the runway! it must be about 30 ft tall😁 What else has been spotted so far?

I wonder why the scrolling of the ATIS text has to be that choppy? They already had perfect smooth scrolling of text in 1982 on the Commodore C-64 so why not now?

Bad weather is a great opportunity for fun 🙂 As I saw the strong winds in South of France, I decided to fly my favorite Cessna 152 in Tarbes (LFBT), home of the TBM. Not only I enjoyed the crosswind approaches, but the 152 can fly so slowly that landing with an airspeed of 50-60 kts (2 notches of flaps) with a face wind of 30-40 kts gives a ground speed of 20-30 kts !! I see a wire two frame globe coming out of the ground in the distance from my position. Does anyone else have this issue?

I managed to delete my contoller settings files using the in-game menu, but I have a recent system image of all drives. Problem is I have no idea where MSFS saves the files. Does anybody know where those files are stored? I bought and installed MSFS from the Microsoft Store - installed on my E:\ drive.

I have custom cameras for each plane I fly. I would like to jump from one camera to another without the panning in between. Anyone know how this can be done?

It's a great idea and no doubt the scenery is lovely. But are MS/Asobo seriously expecting us to cover this 560+nm flight billed at nearly three hours in one sitting? I got about 40 minutes into it last night, real world intervened, hit Esc to save and no spacebar dialogue to do so. We are not all computer nerds happy to sit in front of our PC screens for 3 hours at a time, not to mention this goes against standing policy as regards resting your eyes etc. when using VDU's. Okay I could use accelerated time (if that's allowed) but then that defeats the point of taking a low, slow(ish) flight to appreciate the visual delights. Maybe there's a checkpoint just around the corn…

Is this only happening with me? I can't get the 172 to hold a constant VS or Altitude. Or is this yet another known issue?

Hello everyone, I'd like to learn from your experience on landing the Mooney. Myself, I land full flaps at around 65-70 knots and as soon as I touch down it becomes very difficult, sometimes impossible to maintain the aircraft in the center line. A slight correction of the rudder makes the plane over reacting to it and by controlling its reaction with the counter rudder make the plane quit the runway. I have to say that I have already reduce the sensitivity of my hardware with FSUIPC and that in the air, the rudder is fine. As a matter of fact the take off is sensitive but not a problem. Hi. I have just returned to MS Flight Simulator 2020 after many absent years because I was really impressed with the progress that has been made. However, I have a problem with the controls that I hope someone will be able to help me with. I set my Joystick up and checked the function with the Sensitivity function within the simulator and the pointer moves slowly up and down the curve. However, when in the cockpit, Cessna, and move the joystick, the yoke doesn't move then all of a suden it jumps, then as I continue to slowly move the joystick, nothing happens, then the yoke jumps again. Is there a way to change your ATC voice from the female one to the male one? I set my speech settings in Windows to default to one of the male voices but the female voice still there.

Originally I just wanted to add a 4th monitor below the middle monitor of my 3 monitor setup. However all this seems to do is stretch the screen out on to the 4 monitors. Then I stumbled upon the G1000, Spacedesk and Air manager. Is the G1000 just an app for the iPad and does it just display the instrument panel or is it an extension of the desktop too? I never built up my Sim like I did the time around so a lot of this is quite new to me.

On Approach I changed it to Night again and it looked ok but when I went to terminal building I saw a square white (like it just snowed on that square around the terminal bld) What if I genuinely started at dark from somewhere and landed here early morning (day time)? I am not sure UK2000 uses the MSFS SDK or techniques. They probably proted their P3D scenery hence these issues What do you guys think? MAnny

Hi, I have tried now several times to see my fiend in a multiplayer session, either Live Player or All Players. We both park a A320 in KTPA, parking spots 115 and 114 respectively, but I nor he can see an aircraft next to him. Is there anything I can read/follow that describes what settings I have to have to make this happen. Thanks for reply

Not posting this as anything but some details. Currently running what’s in my signature - I had been running 2 1080p monitors in GeForce surround (3860x1080). Was flying mostly around Florida in the G58, on essentially an ultra wide 1080p on all Ultra settings. Would get frames of 55-75. Set up the 4K monitor today and on ultra the frames dropped to around 10-15. I dropped it back to High End, and I’m between 45-60. if ever available at MSRP, I do intend to get a 3080 or 3090. Call me crazy, but I’m very pleased with the performance of my 2080 Super at 4k.

With the proliferation of addons (especially the free ones) the Community folder keeps getting bigger and bigger and the loading time of Flight Simulator keeps getting longer and longer. Also, there is no way to organize the addons in subfolders (as then the MSFS would not recognize them). The result is a very long and disorganized list of addons. Besides, from the program itself there is no way to activate and deactivate the addons (as can be done with FSX or Prepar3D). Anyone know if there is any solution to this issue?

Obviously MSFS2020 global scenery is beautiful' however, we're unable to enjoy an airliner in all it's glory at this time; hence, I have decided to reinstall P3D V4.5 and and fire-up all the beautiful sceneries (add-ons) I have, and MOST importantly, all the major Airplane add-ons I have. I will also expand even more on my ORBX such as True Earth. I'm sure I will; be very happy. Yes, MSFS2020 is the future, but there's a lot, a lot to be improved. Hey guys. So maybe you know, maybe you dont, but over here in France we have got what we call "altisurface", wich are basically remote challenging airstrip, just like in the Idaho backcountry, or even Alaska. They are pretty well represented in MSFS, most of them are in there, althought pretty crude (as some should be). But a wonderful guy is starting to edit them, bring a bit more life into them, and its amazing fun, accessible from all the big hubs in the Alps, so take a break from your world tour, your Japan tour, or your charter flights, and hop in a Cub (some can welcome nearly all light GA aircraft up to the bonanza) and have fun shooting approaches! Here i am in Va…
