Hi,I recently noticed that upon reaching my destination airport, fog seems to pop in or pop out of view. I thought one of the major advanced in fs2004 was the ability to spot weather from far away, but it doesn't seem to hold true for visibility. I set up a little test to check it out. I cleared all the weather and set the visibility for chicago midway to 0. Then I took off from KORD and headed for midway. You can see midway clearly from far away, but upon final approach, at about 1000 feet, the visibility simply pops to 0. I have my view distance well over 50 miles, so that shouldn't be the problem. I'm wondering if there's anybody out there that doesn't have this proble…

Hi everyone,If you've downloaded my KRDG/Mid Atlantic Air Museum scenery lately, there's an item I forgot to mention in the readme file that I think makes flying in that area a lot more enjoyable. I'm talking about Phil Cruikshank's Pennsylvania 30m terrain mesh. It's available for download here on Avsim and I think it's a marked improvement over the default MS terrain in this part of the world. So if you're thinking that Mt. Penn looks a little too flat for your taste, check out this mesh! I won't fly in the region without it anymore.thanks,

I have noticed that when using the default FS9 Garmin the GPS sensitivity (how sensitive the CDI is based on GPS course info) seems to be locked into a single setting (enroute). In the real world GPS sensitivity changes from +-5 NM while enroute, +-1 NM in terminal mode, & +-0.3 NM within 2 NM of FAWP.Does anyone know how the unit works? Am I correct in thinking that it only has a single sensitivity? Does anyone know if the Reality XP Garmin 530 models approach sensitivity better than the default FS9 version?

HiI was wondering if there are anyone that does freeware textures that can change the way the default textures in Fs2004 ( or many other replacement textures since released) looks like.I was thinking in something like what you see IN REAL LIFEConcentrated skid marks at each TDZ for the runways...and a gradual decrease of tyre marks in the middle parts. Is this possible ?I see that the new Boston Logan Scenery has this effect on the runways and i was hoping it could be done for all FS2004 runways.

I've been housecleaning and waging the losing battle of trying to put my stuff in order and I ran into this gouache I had made long ago (1982), showing French F-100's banking over a typical small town in the country. Does anyone know of a goog F-100 for FS02/04?

I want to fly the 727 in FS2004. How do I do it? Is there an FFX 727 base for the 727? I've done numerous seaches in AVSIM and FlightSim and can't find such a file. Other than Captain Sim's, is there a 727 that you recommend for FS2004? I'd appreciate your advice. Stan

Does anyone know why this happens? whenever I set the barometric pressure (hit :( I get the wrong altitude readout in the plane. I get the "right" altitude (the one which corresponds the CTRL + Z readout) only when I set it to 29.92 but that's not all, even when the sim and plane altitudes are at sync - ATC yells at me that I'm a couple of hundred feet above or below filed altitude.....I can't remember what I did recently to triger this awckward behaviour but I had no problems of such nature before.Does anybody have a clue?Thanks//Mike

Merry Christmas to Tom and to the entire staff here at AVSIM. I would like to extend this all who who visit or live here at AVSIM. It's been an interesting year to say the least in our sim world, as well as in our real world. My wishes to all are that everyone enjoys themselves, their families and their friends. Have a safe holiday. We need everyone back here in one piece come Friday! Peace to all. http://www.avsim.com/alaska/pic/card03.jpgDon Moser

Since I am using FS9 I have got big frame hits with lots of clouds and on short final. Short final the frames are dropping always to around 9fps (locked at 18fps).I am thinking about upgrading my CPU from 1.8GHz to 2.4GHz. Should this improve frames a lot?Current System:Pentium 4 1.8GHZ768MB DDRATI RADEON 9800MAXTOR 40 GB 7200rpm, FS on seperate partition.Hope someone can advise me, thanks!Marcel

Operating on a very limited budget at this time of the year, I recently upgraded my processor from an AMD Athlon 1600 to an AMD 2400 (I was told this was the most my motherboard would take. I also changed the graphics card from a 64MB GeForce MX440 to a 128 MB GeForce FX5200.My problem is that the colour rendering appears to have now gone haywire. Runways and buildings appear red/orange, and the sky appears either bright yellow or red. The view in VC mode is flickering and fragmented.I've made sure that I've got all the latest drivers etc. I'm no technical expert. Can anyone tell me what might be going wrong ?Neil B
