Help! Popup at Simviation has taken over

Featured Replies

While I was at Simviation.com a while ago, a popup took over my Internet Explorer settings, overrode the default homepage and is blocking my browsing. Anyone know the cure? John

Try adaware (www.lavasoft.de) - free tool to gets rid of nasty little thinges that you can get from websites.

It got me too..(even with stompers) what's underneath it is an ad for a pop-up stopper. :|

I use the new Google toolbar to stop popups. It works rather well.

Spybot (www.spybot.com) is another tool that you can run periodically to get rid of spyware and home-page hijackers.A lot of sites drop nuisance adware into your machine, but ones that drop in hijackers should be avoided. Of course, it's always hard to prove exactly where the junk came from, but if you've got a good idea that one site in particular is responsible, then avoid that site like the plague. Be sure of your source, but telling others in public forums when you're REALLY SURE is a good step towards teaching webmasters that they need to be responsible with the ads they allow on their sites.

Well it should be a waring to ALL desiring to visit that site. That nasty little spyware program changes your homepage and EVEN opens you CDROM to get you to click on the add, I have words for guys who do things like that but since it is x-mas. Open up your TEMPORARY INTERNET folder, on windws xp it should be here; C:Documents and SettingsYOUR COMPUTER NAMELocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files Anything that is a HTML file DELETE! If it only gets part of it, delete the whole file contents. At worst you will need ot re-enter your username and password at some sites... [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. I suggest getting rid of that POS called IE(I am assuming you are running IE anyway) Get Mozilla or Opera, both of which block ALL adds 100% of the time. No worries, and you don't get nice little spyware presents like you do in IE.
