December 24, 200322 yr HiI was wondering if there are anyone that does freeware textures that can change the way the default textures in Fs2004 ( or many other replacement textures since released) looks like.I was thinking in something like what you see IN REAL LIFEConcentrated skid marks at each TDZ for the runways...and a gradual decrease of tyre marks in the middle parts. Is this possible ?I see that the new Boston Logan Scenery has this effect on the runways and i was hoping it could be done for all FS2004 runways.
December 24, 200322 yr Check the airport enhanced package by Chris Arrington (freeware in Avsim library). He did some work on runway textures and skid marks.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
December 24, 200322 yr I don't think FS9 has the ability for gradually diminishing skid marks as you progress away from the touchdown zone. The runway texture .bmp is repeated for the entire length of the runway, so it's either skid marks on the whole runway, or none at all (by editing the runway texture to remove them). Too bad as I've always felt that skid marks for the entire runway was rather artificial looking.DavePS; The obvious exception to this rule is custom sceneries where the designer "built" specific runway textures with the effect you're talking about. I don't believe it's possible to incorporate such textures into all 23,000 airports in FS9.PPS; Do try Chris Arrington's AEU replacement textures as they are superior to the default in every way!!! He has AEU_EX and AEU_ME options. EX stands for Express Edition and is for low end systems, and ME stands for Master Edition which is for newer systems.
December 24, 200322 yr Um...couldnt the skid marks be included in the runway designation textures? Just a thought....-Daniel
December 26, 200322 yr They could, if they were textures. Unfortunately, they are polygons. :)Um...couldnt the skid marks be included in the runway designation textures? Just a thought....
