Spotting visibility from a distance

Featured Replies

Hi,I recently noticed that upon reaching my destination airport, fog seems to pop in or pop out of view. I thought one of the major advanced in fs2004 was the ability to spot weather from far away, but it doesn't seem to hold true for visibility. I set up a little test to check it out. I cleared all the weather and set the visibility for chicago midway to 0. Then I took off from KORD and headed for midway. You can see midway clearly from far away, but upon final approach, at about 1000 feet, the visibility simply pops to 0. I have my view distance well over 50 miles, so that shouldn't be the problem. I'm wondering if there's anybody out there that doesn't have this problem. It's a serious problem for anybody flying VFR. I know you need to check ATIS, but it's just very annoying to have a total clear view of an airport from far away and 0 visibility when you're close.
