Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I wonder how many GBs this update will be? I guess renaming the community folder is a given.

Anyone having v sync issues with the latest update? No matter what setting in sim or nvidia control panel I get screen tearing in full screen mode.

Now that I have had a chance to test the update: 1. On my machine (AMD 5800x, 32GB, 6700 xt, PCIE4 SSD) - the popins are sometimes present but not that bad. 2. Changing left / right snap view to pan view helps. 3. The sim is pretty good but needs VRAM optimization. It was only using around 4GB of 12GB. If it was optimized to use an extra 7-8 GB VRAM with trees and buildings etc there would be no such popin issues, and scenery would look more dense. 4. The instruments are much smoother 👍 5. Good update overall.

I just started up the latest version for the first time hoping to test everything out in the TBM. I haven't been able to get off the ground as I have no throttle control. I use the Thrustmaster T.16000M w/TWCS Throttle system. The joystick works fine for control surfaces but no response from the throttle at all. I've tried a number of things: Double-checked Controls setting for TBM (all were correct) and the Options menu shows the sim responding properly. Resaved for the heck of it and restarted the flight. No Response, Deleted the TBM profile, then recreated it. Once again, the Options menu shows all assignments responding correctly. Saved it, recreated…

When starting flights and having the cockpit view on, the plane appears as a skeleton. Once I have the exterior view all appears fine. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

So I hopped in my Just Flight Arrow III and holy heck what an unflyable mess. So I decided to travel over to their forums to see if it was just me. A message from Just Flight in their Arrow III forums I feel so bad for Just Flight. They put their hard earned blood sweat and tears into one of the best GA aircraft for the sim by a country mile and Asobo pretty much made their product unflyable by complete negligence.

Looks like they've downgraded visuals for SU5, now have jaggies & shimmering where I had none before with the same settings with SU4

Did they remove this from the ATC menu? I struggle with this since a few versions back, I could swear you could request a different runways in the past.

In the last 4 IFR flights ( which I fly all the time), I have set the squawk code to ATC directions, take off in the DC6 and 15 minutes later I look and it is set to 1200. Anyone else see this? This just started in the last 2 days.

Hi all, I know there are a thousand theories out there, for "fixing" the CTDs introduced with SU5, but I just thought I'd share what 100% worked for me. Here's the context - after updating to SU5, I was getting CTDs on every attempt to use the sim; sometimes it would crash while loading, sometimes on the map screen, and sometimes after 5 mins of flying. I did my Googling and checked a bunch of factors off my list.... things like making sure Offline AI traffic is turned off (until fixed), not running a software overclocker such as MSI Afterburner, not using Process Lasso, and not using Nvidia Inspector. Is anyone else experiencing bad frame rates when panning around with either a hat switch or track IR? (prior to latest updates, I had no frame rate issues looking around from the cockpit, but now I do)

Aside the pop-ins when panning, which in my view are mild enough that they are worth the FPS increase, there are 2 other downgrades I have more issues with: water waves are now static from a distance, till you fly directly over water, at least that is how it is with water waves set at medium. Second, autogen detail is limited till you get within a few hundred feet distance from it and you see the transition to higher detail as you approach, with my current settings. This was not like that before and together with the less nice looking clouds, find it more of an immersion killer than the pop-ins.

After updating MSFS, my FSDT KORD, KSDF and LSZH are broken. Jetways are either missing and/or parts of the airports just don’t look right. Is there an update for these that may be needed? I did do a fresh reinstall of each of these airports today but it didn’t fix the issue. Cheers, Pete

Anyone know if a tree fix addon will work now after SU5? Asobo identified a "bug" in regards to the trees and su5 fixed it, but I was wondering if the bug was related to why the addon wouldnt work in the first place.

I updated yesterday and am running into issues. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to remove the update then reinstall it if that is possible? Or, is there a way to just reinstall over the version from yesterday? Thanks

Did they now remove the "owned filter" in the store, I see an option to hide owned but not to show ONLY owned. I have a LOT of purchased airports, so it's kind of a pain to go through it without that. I haven't used MSFS much in the past 3 months, so maybe it was done in a previous update, but still...

Hi everyone, After a long absence I've returned to flight sim I'm reading amazing things about XBOX series X performance and optimisation and even the cheaper S model also does a great job Turtle Beach has a yoke quadrant coming out soon. Which makes the package look appealing Who here would buy into this combo. Would you choose the X or S model and why? Thanks

I am quite happy about the latest update, it showed a good perf improvement. The problem that appeared and that I dound irritating is about the ability to look around and control the aircraft at the same time. I don't have VR, so I fly with the stick in the left hand and I use the mouse (with the right button) in my right hand to look around. This was OK until the update 5. Now when I click the right-mouse button and look around with the mouse, the stick does not control the aircraft until I release the button. Nearly every take off recently has given me problems not reaching full thrust on take off. When I remember I usually go from full thrust then back to idle before take off but even this doesn't seem to prevent problems where the cure is to madly go back and forth with the thrust several times during take off to eventually get the desired result. I am not sure if others have found this too or is it just my Thrustmaster Hotas is cream crackered? I have checked the settings in MSFS and none of my preferences seem to have changed.

Had never any problem til now. Did the update like I ever did, startet the app wich is pinned on the taskbar. The update was loading and installing normal I think and the game starts. Seeing as we've been warned some add-ons will have issues I wanted to start this thread so we can all report our findings with various mods and add-ons with SU5.

Just canvasing for opinion on how people are managing model matching on VATSIM. Used to fly almost exclusively on VATSIM for years up until the release of MSFS. Is everyone waiting for an AIG release or is there another alternative currently available ? (IVAO Altitude?) Opinions on this appreciated

With the dissapearing buildings/terminals etc in Sweden, that the Nordic update that I have installed "over" SU5 is not "matched" with SU5, that it causes buildings dissapear, and elevation, bridges missmatches etc? Is there a way to unistall Nordic update and try without it, or do I have to reinstall the whole MSFS to fly without Nordic update? Best regards Buspelle

Before SU5 I couldn't even load into Aerosoft's EDLP, without either bringing my sim to a screeching halt, or getting like 5 fps. Loaded into EDLP with the CJ4, getting 25 fps on the ground (as per my AMD Radeon Software)!
