Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I'm finding many aircraft liveries with custom reg, which would normally have a blank tail number line, now show the last used tail number regardless. Also reference a blank atc_id in the aircraft.cfg - seems to no longer work! GRRR. atc_id = "_" ; tail number Is anyone else seeing this? Hi everybody! I installed SU5 today and wondered what everyone is doing that there are so many complaints about crashes, "can't even start sim" posts in this and the MS forums - everything was running pretty fine here... until I decided to check if my Orbs KORS airport is still OK -> FS stopped responding after hitting "FLY!" so I had to kill the process in Task Manager Even worse, when I tried to restart FS it crashed right before loading the main selection screen. So the source of all these problems people are having is quite likely a 3rd-party add-on airport rendered incompatible by SU5 being stuck in their config files (because that was the last departur…

Its because i use it!:) if you dont use MSFS, all in OFF, you will se there is no CTD!:) i hope this tip can be useful.

Wednesday I was able to complete many flights of about 30-minutes each using stored flight plans from prior to SU5. All GA (C172 Glass, G36, DA62, TBM) planes using VOR and GPS navigation. I was also able to build a new flight plan and successfully fly it in the C172 and the TBM. At times my community folder contained up to 20-addons. I suffered no pauses and was seeing a steady 45 to 65 FPS flying around SoCal. Talk about whiplash. Guys, this sim seems pretty solid right now. Haven’t had a CTD since early yesterday and i have done 4 or 5 flights lasting an hour or two each. The popping in scenery is the only thing, but even that isn’t nearly as noticeable now. My big issue was heat. This new update puts incredible stress on the GPU but with a little fan tweaking (i.e running at 100%!) everything has stabilized. CPU runs in 70s and GPU is 70 C steady. The performance improvements are really amazing. No micro stutters. Great FPS everywhere. This update really transforms this sim. This update becomes a bigger meme by the hour.... Using clear install of SU5, many airports like KMIA have messing terminal walls and floating roofs… Airports that have this problem: KMIA KPHX KBOS KBVY

Changed back to legacy settings, the mouse scroll on say the heading bug seems a LOT slower now, or is that just me? Same for say, changing altitude in the A320 or anything that requires twiddling a knob with the mouse scroll wheel.

My server has MSFS installed from scratch today. Loads fast into the scenery. My Left View client loads the chosen Flight forever and never goes into the scenery. The loading screen of the client shows the XBox controller while loading. The server shows a scenery screenshot. The Left clients bar loads completely but it never makes it into the scenery. I launched the game today and it is now asking me to log in to Xbox Live. I am on Steam. Odd thing is that I now have to hit the "press any key to start" button and it still asks for Xbox Live info. When I put in username it won't let me progress to password. So can't play. Anyone having this problem and a solution?

After seeing a lot of videos about camera views it seems that many keys are not functioning. I would like to see the aircraft from outside in all positions like we did with FSX and without seeing menus. Is this possible?

I was doing a flight to Key West (KEYW) approaching from the west (RNAV approach runway 09). The island looked like a blurry blob until about 3-5 miles out, when everything started popping in, populating the island (trees, buildings, etc.)...right in front of me. I was looking straight ahead, no panning. Real immersion killer. While the improvement in smoothness and framerate is substantial compared to pre-update, the cost isn't worth it IMHO. This title has a lot going for it, but when nerfing what is arguably the sim's greatest strength (the visuals), this is going backwards. This, plus the new "washed out" look, things just not looking as crisp, etc. …

I have just installed MSFS 2020 in my laptop, everything working well but when I select an aircraft and and airport in the world map the sim always load the C172 and the same airport (the one that I tried the first time). I don't know what to do, I have tried several airplanes and several airports but nothing, the sim always load the C172 and the same airport. Any idea how to solve it?.

Hey guys, please excuse if this is a stupid question. But i am looking for that black and yellow XCub livery that is shown on the splash screen. Can't find it in my hanger. I have seen several videos where they compare MSFS before and after SU5, but it all seem to be on PC systems with newer hardware ie. 2080/3080 GPU's, newest processors, 32 GB Ram or more, and t looks like they indeed have gotten some performance improvements. I have an older I7, 4790@4 Ghz,, 16GB DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28) an M2 as 😄 and a couple of SSD's. I would really appreciate anyone with a similar system, to give their opinion on if they see any performance improvement, and if they can play in High/ultra 4K or what kind of settings they have.

So following the results from SU5, it would seem there are a number of issues but not the same experiences all round. It would be good to have an update from Asobo to reflect the current situation but I guess they are either buried deep in work or counting their money from Xbox game sales. What concerns me more than anything is having confidence in this game - or the lack of it from a buyers perspective. Yes, perhaps it's sacrilege to show xbox footage here, but This is me playing flight simulator on my HD 8 Fire Tablet thanks to the Xbox App. The AI Pilot certainly hasn't improved in the last year.😄

I chose the new G1000 NXi release as part of my update. As this is not an outside mod, how do I access it or make sure it's a part of the chosen aircraft? It appears that there are now "extra" aircraft versions in the Hangar area for some models (such as the C172 g1000), but there isn't any way to see if one of them contains the NXi (the aircraft display menu cuts off the descriptions). I'm guessing that you don't add any WT g1000 mods to the Community folder and choose the version from the aircraft hangar menu... but, which is it?

I guess I picked a bad time to uninstall FSX to go solely with MSFS 2020. Since SU5, Ctrl + E isn't working to fire up my TBM, I get a weird scroll bar on the right side of my screen in the cockpit, and had a ton of weird artifacts where buildings belong at KBOS. I'm sure there's more But I haven't gotten any further to discover. To say the least, I'm very unhappy with my sim right now. 😒

with an i5 processor, 4 gigs of video ram, and 8 gigs system ram. 1. I did a complete reinstall of the sim. 2. Updated all the content in-.game 3. I had a couple of ctds on the "checking for update" screen, but that seems to have sorted itself. 4. Loaded up REX Textures, WT CJ4 mod and the G 1000 nxi Loading times from initially clicking on the desktop icon to being in the cockpit has been reduced by about 30-40%. Less lag, fewer/no stutters, view changes snappier. Sim seems much smoother. I just tooled around at an airport. Moving between game and menus also feels snappier and smoother. No numbers, just my subjective impression.…

Background I waited a few months when 2020 was released to see what kind of issues it would have (been dealing with MS for decades), since MS always has issues as we all know. The major one I saw was that it would only run on Win 10 ( I hate 10) but I finally bit the bullet.....spent a few grand on a new PC and another $500 on Honeycomb controls....bought the standard version.....got everything working and payed attention after every update....and amazingly it all worked fine....not a single 'bug', not one. Just an FYI.... So i do what i always do when there's an update, clear Community Folder yada yada yada... But I always delete the previously created Manual Cache I made for my hometown. I do this so if any updates with the Bing maps would be represented in our new sim, i have the latest image. There I am at 12 midnight painting my new Manual Cache to only the highest level for the areas i fly and want to see in vivid detail the most. and I name the file ( input hometown airport or city here ) and press create. I haven't been able to get in the sim yet because i get stuck when trying to load a flight, but I was curious, has anything changed for the better in this update with photogrammetry? Did they fix those weird spikes/melted looking buildings at all? I had PG off because of that but was wondering if they addressed anything.

Hi everyone. Before the su5, everything was running perfectly. Since the update even after a reinstall I am still having many issues. I have done fresh install of the developer version of the fbw a320. Everything seems to work fine except the throttles. The rlef5 throttle seems to move in sync with the thrustmaster tca quadrant. The right hand lever has a mind of its own...it moves in chaotic manner when the corresponding lever is moved..the movements are very Jerky or super fast. Is it just me who thinks that the quality of the clouds has degraded after the patch? They look more like medium on ultra settings after the patch.
