Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I've been a flight simmer for almost 40 years and a regular visitor to this and other flight sim websites for decades. Personally, I'm absolutely thrilled with the current state of Microsoft Flight Simulator. It's the sim I always dreamed about. But I've noticed something very curious in reading the "problem" reports on this forum regarding MSFS: Most of the complaints come from simmers with state-of-the-art, high-end computers. I build a flight plan in the TDS 750xi with about 5 waypoints, each with a altitude constraint, and an ILS approach procedure. I store the plan and then fly the plan. It all works perfectly! I restart the flight, load the plan from the TDS Catalog into the TDS 750xi and the waypoint/fix plan is there but every altitude, including those specified by the approach procedure are set to 4300'. That is not going to work because the departure airport is at 3,000' and there is a 6,000' ridge between the departure and destination. I started over and rebuild the plan and stored it under a .2 name in the TDS catalog - same result! When I reload the .2 plan I see the …

Wingman UI Modern pulls up the background picture from the hanger, but the windows that overlay it are not displayed. On SU8 it would not display and I deleted it from the Community Folder and reinstalled it, and it worked fine. This time this didn't work. Regular world menu works fine, but I prefer to Wingman. Hope they can work it out. Roy

Howdy, Is it my system or is this a current update thing. The C-172 G1000 weight & balance page shows the seats & cargo for weights but doesn't display how your Center of Gravity is anymore. Happy Landings, Josh

Hello All, About to purchase a head tracker, looking at TrackIR but trying to avoid having to wear headgear. Anyone know if Tobii works with msfs with little to no issues? I'm currently using the 15$ smoothtrack option but looking for something more dedicated and permanent.

Have Asobo/Microsoft killed its own B747-8 and B787-10 with the latest update? I have the following DreamLiner screen after loading the aircraft with a flight plan from Heathrow to Athens, and it is unflyable without all instruments working correctly. Anyone else experiencing the same issue with this aircraft or the 747? Anyone know a solution or workaround? I have no 747 or 787 mods installed. PS - the Salty version of the 747 seems to be better.

Had a power cut while loading MSFS last night. Although using Starting as Administrator, MSFS is now stuck in the 'Checking For Updates' section. The 'circle' just goes around & around. Anyone had this & successfully fixed it without having to do a full reinstall? T45

Hey guys, I've had my 2080 Super for a bit now and performs very well, but seriously thinking of getting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming Pro Palit GPU... couple things i wanted to ask as to MSFS 1. Do you think there will be a noticeable performance difference (CPU is 9700k clocked to 5ghz)? 2. I didn't know this but my wife just told me to avoid cards that have been used for crypto mining! And the palit version seems to be the go... is this the case? Thanks for any help guys... 2K plus is a lot to drop on a card so want to get my ducks in a row.. Cheers Doug

Hello all! I recently purchased a Skytech computer with AMD Ryzen 7, RTX 3070, 16 gb ram etc.. I am currently playing on a Roku 55 inch 4k TV. I have been experimenting with different settings, but this is going to take awhile to learn. Any input on critical factors such as rendering settings and other tweaks I should do? I'm looking for a frame rate counter to see how I'm doing. Any input would be better than my throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks method. Thanks!

I downloaded SU 9 and it installed without a problem. I used it for about an hour and tried to quit to desktop but received the message: DOWNLOAD STARTED Downloads have started in the background. CLOSE ALL I cannot find any downloads running and Content Manager shows everything is up to date. What does the message mean? Should I just ignore it and close the sim?

I've best testing version 1.8 which adds a lot of failures like flaps, ailerons, pitot heat , bird strike etc. It has now more depth and more failures than the PMDG DC-6. All the failures have an associated VFX to it. It also has co-pilot and Flight engineer AI to help you. They will warn you of failure and even interact to fix the failures, if you chose to do so. It is a more complete product that PMDG DC-6 IMO once that version 1.8 is release to the public. I think a lot of you are going to be surprised how much better it is now compare to the initial release. So if you were on the fence about getting it, I think now it's the time to do so.

Anyone know where docs for MSFS 2020 might be found? I'm trying to find a detailed explanation of smart cameras vs free look, how to get into and move around in slew mode etc. Can't find a shred of documentation on any of it...

Hey Gang! I see that one of my most anticipated features was supposed to have been added to SU9 (nose wheel steering axis). Problem is that once it is setup, the nose wheel is not moving. Any ideas if anyone has been able to set this up successfully? Dennis

I had never really put any effort into exploring this feature prior to this weekend. Sometime Friday afternoon, I decided to see what the impact would be of manual caching the 50 square miles or so (give or take - I focused mainly on areas that I explore low and slow) around my home airport, KBWI - Baltimore Washington Int'l. The 1st thing I noticed is that I have not seen the low bandwidth popup arriving to Baltimore since doing so while I have had them on my last two arrivals into Chicago (default KORD, too) and Boston (FT). The real advantage is the detail level. If I approach KBWI from the north, I have to fly over the area where I boat on the Upper Chesapeake. …

Am I the only one that finds it absolutely pathetic you can’t laugh the MS Store version while offline. You’ll get an error about inserting the game disk LMFAO. Sorry for the rant, With most of Florida offline from the Xfinity settings I was trying to mess with some settings in the sim, incredibly annoying tbh.

I don't know how much traction this might have; I was wondering if people would entertain the idea of having an option where we can have a slider to adjust turbulence and thermal effects from 0 to 100% incorporated in some menu (like flight controls section). In this way, we can adjust this reaction to our liking or as close as possible to each airplane's behavior., especially for the real pilots that are more familiar with how each airplane they fly. I think that it would be much easier and simpler to address this issue.
