Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Sorry to have to report this as Leonardo's MD-80 used to be one of my favorite airplanes. I installed SU11 and kept getting hanging after hitting the "fly" button. I slowly removed everything in my community folder and when I removed the MD-82, the sim fired right up. Just wanted to share.

Just spotted on their Discord that FlightFX have announced their VisionJet is getting released on 22/11/22. Looks very nice - although would it be wrong to fly it with a yoke ?? https://www.flightfx.io/portfolio/sf50-vision-jet G

Anyone know how to remove the Yoke for the DC-3?

I have tried all morning to get the Flight sim working, Following a number of youtube Videos making sure Windows is up to date and also that my PC is on the device list. I then get the option on where to download to, C or F drive and the download begins (C drive) It only downloads 960mb within 3 minutes and then it tells me that i can now play the game. I get press any button to start and than i get unable to play the game, Flight sim has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and will notify you IF a solution is available

Hi All. Wanted to inform that we have optimized AccuSeason for the MSFS SimUpdate 10 release. Early in the beta process for SU10, it was discovered that Sim Update 10 caused a negative performance (Frames per Second) impact for AccuSeason and similar vegetation products. With this being the case, the REX team invested in a huge effort to make extensive changes to the application in order to optimize performance for SU10. Performance improvements were ultimately made by the MSFS team during the beta, but we still noticed some degraded performance and the optimized updates work great. I honestly have not seen a lot of message traffic from those who tested the SU10 Beta, and have like most, just updated to SU11 today. A great happy anniversary splash screen, what looks like an amazing default A310, gliders, and some other various new aircraft. What is there in actual sim tech enhancements? DX12 & Nvidia DLSS improvements/enhancements? Is another updated nVidia game ready driver needed? I have a very good system with a Gigabyte RTX3080 12GB GPU. What options should I be trying after SU11? Currently still on full 4K, DX11, TAA (both due to SU10 slight VC fuzziness with DX12/DLSS). Am on 50% monitor refresh (30fps), LOD 200, OOD 100, and on Ultra…

While enjoying the festivities of 40 Years of Flight Simulator, it unfortunately slipped Microsoft's mind, that the founder or inventor or what ever you want to call him, was Bruce Artwick. Mr., Artwick and his company BAO (Bruce Artwick Organisation) had their domicile in Champaign, IL, from where they developed several versions of Flight Simulator. A couple of years after the first version BAO was split up in BAO and Sublogic. In the early 90's Flight Simulator was fully acquired by Microsoft. So thanks to Bruce Artwick we have been enjoying Flight Simulator over years and/or decades. I thought it was well in place to mention the founder of FS on this day.

KCGX/KORD. Oh man, if I had THIS 40 years ago. 60FPS and Photogrammetry the best I’ve ever seen, and downtown skyscrapers? Those are some serious downtown skyscrapers! Try it, I think you’ll be amazed. -B

Whilst I have been guilty of one or more of these in the past (shamefully some more than once), it's always worth reminding of the basics again: 1. Rename your community folder; 2. Delete your rolling cache; 3. Following the update, download any updates from the store. Depending on whether you use the Store or Steam versions, you may need to reboot your system before the update becomes available. Wishing you all a good update process and hoping that you enjoy all of the new content. Only 6 hours to wait 🙂

Hi all, not a SU11 issue, but with the Gimbal it is especially pronounced: if I turn windshield effects on "ultra", I have through certain windshields a really annoying effect of straight lines that disturb the view. Not really visible at first sight, but as soon as you once recognized it, you can no longer overlook it. It looks like the whole windshield has several straight cracks leading to a very slight distortion of the view, almost like tearing. If I turn the effects on "low", this is gone, but then I miss all the rest of the lovely windshield effects. Anyone else noticed this? Super annoying, can it be corrected somehow?

I see a couple of them in the Microsoft Store marked FREE but not all of them. Why didn't they auto-install?

Today every time I try to start MSFS I am told that online services are unreachable, to check my internet connection. However my internet is working OK. Anyone else seeing this? Thanks, Jim

I probably will never use any of the new default aircraft, because I am usually flying the Fenix, Kodiak and C 310. So my first flight after the update today, is with the Fenix, and it's smooth as silk. no problems at all. 🙂🙂

The Saitek trim wheel does not work in any of the aircraft. I can adjust it in the settings but no response in the aircraft.

When in the main menu all my controllers are present and adjustable. While in a flight if I go to the in flight menu only the Saitek throttle is showing up and no other controls are there. Also, the Saitek trim wheel does not respond in any of the aircraft.

That's right folks, the big day is almost upon us (or with you already in Oceania). 40 years has past since our minds were blown for the first time, and normal life would never be the same again. What will you be doing to mark the occasion? Perhaps, you might think of cracking open a bottle of fine wine and raise a toast to the original developers and all MSFS developers since? Or maybe, fly a few circuits around Meigs for old times sake? Any fun ideas you might have, please share. Normally I cringe at such suggestions but this post is meant in both jest and also in a kind of weird, wacky and nerdy serious kind of way. 😆

So when is this big update releasing?

Anyone notice some add-ons are actually getting worse with each new updated compared to what was originally released? Two examples stand out to me: 1. Fenix A320 - Version 1.0.2.104 had great sounds a nice flight model and overall was a great product. With each subsequent update the sounds were reworked for the XBOX gamers among us. Now when in the cockpit it sounds like you're sitting right over the engines as if you're in the cabin. Actually, moving to the cabin still sounds right compared to what you hear in the cockpit. The latest update brighten the cockpit to accommodate some among us who feel cockpits are too dark now. For those of us that don't share th…

With the number of free aircraft coming our way it’ll be a hard choice which one to take to the skies with first. I was thinking A310 would be first, since that’s what I’m most looking forward to (especially in Air Transat and Canadian Forces liveries, hint hint 😀) but given that’s an aircraft I’ll probably want to do a longer flight in I figure I’ll do a bit of a survey of some other aircraft first. Maybe the Spruce Goose first since it’s so unique and a bit of a spectacle? Maybe the 407 to see how the next helicopter physics are working? Choices, choices, I feel like I have to pinch myself with all of this free stuff we’re getting. How about you?

Can someone else please confirm this but on my copy it appears that the A310 files have Marketplace Encryption on them. I haven't spotted that on any of the other plane so far.
