Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I was expecting to see a post concerning the sound scape provided with the new PMDG 777-300ER as there's been a murmur of discontent with the sounds heard here and there. Since there isn't one (that I can see) I thought I'd start one. My impression is that the sounds are very good, overall. There's a variety of little rattles and other subtle bits here and there. The hydraulic system's sounds are super. The ambiance in the cockpit seems really well done. My only doubt has to do with engine sounds when in a external view. An 8 hour flight with the PMDG 777 means my PC is running hot for 8 hours straight. At the same time I have to turn on the air conditioner to prevent my PC warming my room. I feel guilty to do this just to see pixels moving pretending to fly a plane, it doesn't feel right.

Just came across this on reddit. It's a runway 1R instrument approach at KSFO in the PMDG 777, but I see no available 1R instrument approaches in the sim's navdata (Asobo's or Navigraph's) or in the PMDG 777's. This must mean that customizing the PMDG 777's navdata is possible. Interesting!

Hello ... an issue which is driving me to distraction ... that is what's the current method of removing the irritating onscreen assists ... wouldn't it make more sense to have it as an 'opt-in' in game as the method seems to change with the prevailing wind ...

so I jumped water and followed one of easyjetsimpilot's youtube videos to make my MiniFCU work with the Fenix. All fine, just enroute EHAM to EFHK, works like a charm. the setup procedure was pretty straight forward execpt that mobiflight v10 does not require the beta version anymore to run/recognize the miniFCU and I needed to manually assign an "orphaned module" to get all the lights working. Anyway, knowing that this is not the HW section and this is prone to be moved in another section (mods, feel free!) let me start here as this is where I spend 99.9% of my avsim airtime: is there an option to "easily" swap between the Fenix320 and FBW320? Is there a way to disable the default static aircraft from being displayed in MSFS? I noticed a four engine jet at EGPK Prestwick this morning, and when I checked it out, I realised that it was supposed to be an Airbus A380. Unfortunately, it looked about as much like a real A380 as my car. I would prefer for MSFS to only use the AIG models database for the static aircraft.

Hi, with PMDG 737 and 777 when i set heading via heading knob (using mouse) in the cockpit view, it doesn't change the heading bug in the external view hud, but if i set the heading with keyboard shortcut it changes heading in both cockpit and external view. In default A320 neo, there is no such problem.. have you recognised this or am is there something wrong with my setup or settings?

Hi, after 1 year or more without photogrammetry enabled (due to melted buildings) i have just enabled it and it looke like its fixed! (same MSFS Settings except DX12 now enabled, same PC etc.). Have tried EDDF and KJFK, no more melted Buildings. Looks great. Maybe a Sim Update or the optimized Servers has changed it. Im happy! I was concerned, because i read of several airports that have ground bumps with PG disabled. Another nice Update is the ground texture bleed through with DX12 enabled has gone now, somehow missed the fix. Great!

Hi everybody, I loaded the PMDG 777 up today and was hit almost immediately with an unbelievably irritating siren before the plane's power had gotten to the point where the screens were fully on. Here's a clip of the siren: https://streamable.com/8v058z I started the plane up anyway to clear out all the EICAS errors and hopefully uncover the error at hand and that resulted in two errors: "EQUIP COOLING" and "EQUIP COOLING OVRD". I went through the QRH steps for the second message which did not fix the issue, and the line for the first one simply says the equipment cooling system has failed, with nothing else on how to correct that. Not sure if it’s the recent driver update or MSFS update, but my filter settings keep changing every time I start the sim. Categories are saved, but settings keep changing. Anyone else using game filter seeing this?

Hey guys! Pretty much what the title says. I’m looking to see if anyone wants to take on a task painting the PMDG 777 in the Vietnam Airlines colors? I normally just wait a few days and the liveries I want are posted, but this one isn’t a more popular one so I could be waiting forever! I’ve watched YouTube videos on how to do on my own but I just don’t have the amount of free time required to play around with trial and error just for the 1 livery, even though it seems interesting. It would be hugely appreciated!!

polar flights don't work in MSFS, the sim drops in FPS and plane crashes. just happened to me in the middle of my OMDB-KSEA flight it's a shame for the most modern simulator to not have this fixed

I have atteptded to download my purchase completed 3 hours ago. It took over and hour to receive a verification e-mail. Even though MSFS is indeed multithreaded, it's also mainthread-limited most of the time, unless there's a huge mismatch between CPU and GPU. After years of tweaking, I'm still unsure how to deal with this situation. Some days I prefer lots of traffic and hence a low TLOD (50-100 near major airports). Other days, I just don't want to have a blurry runway on final approach. I'm interested in how other people deal with being mainthread-limited.
