I predict that a majority of you reading this message will eventually purchase the new XBOX Series X when it is released pre-holiday 2020. My understanding is that the new XBOX Series X will be comparable in graphics capability to the highest-end PC and graphics card currently available. MSFS 2020 is probably being specifically written for the Series X hardware. I can also imagine XBOX-Flight-Simulator bundles being sold together that picture the stunning images of MSFS 2020 on the outside of the box. I have just finished watching the following VFR Night Flying video by Squirrel: Is it just me who finds the sky/cloud darkness too bright? Or is the sim time set such that it is not completely dark yet? But that can't be, because if you keep watching the video to the end, the night sky remains milky and doesn't get genuinely dark. If this doesn't get corrected, then this doesn't look very realistic. While P3D exaggerates with the brightness of the stars, the milky way and the clouds, in this video it looks like the sun hasn't completely set. Of all Microsoft Flight Simulators, FS2004 is the one who got the night lighting done right in my opinion…

So as we are close now, I am wondering if anyone knows what time the release is going to happen. I remember Microsoft advertising you will be able to pre-load the game if you pre-order it or get the Xbox Game Pass, but it seems that is not the case anymore? So does anyone know what time we will actually be able to start the download and what time it will actually be playable?

All, I almost fell out of my seat just now. Purchased premium this morning and after purchase, the box stated ' DOWNLOAD.' I was like, sure. Boom...downloading begins...completes...click PLAY...message pops up stating I'm too early. The download took like 3 minutes so I knew it wasn't the full game. Anyway...to help save time at midnight, go pre-download some files. Tim

Based on the outrageously high scores for some of the landing challenges is it reasonable to assume forward and side slips are correctly simulated?

Do not watch this video if you are gonna buy MSFS next week.. he's landing the 747 into JFK.. agreed that he's on high settings landing into most congested area.. 1. but fps was 16 - 22 on final.. 2. push back tugs floating around 3. flight model, Autopilot multitude issues 4. United A380 ( i know) that too with boeing winglets.. 5. plane stuck on ground at 70% throttle after landing i know some of it is nitpicking.. but we're just a week away, and will all of this get fixed in the next few days..i doubt it.. 😞

A couple of questions to get us started: How do you distinguish between ai, real players and friends on the world map? If you play in group/friends only can you still play on vatsim? Will vatsim planes still show up then?

Could somebody confirm if this is a possible setting in MFS2020? I briefly recall seeing that the sim has support for running in window mode at various different resolutions, and I'm wondering if you can set your own custom window resolution to run in?

I am a little concerned that I will buy the wrong version of this software. It seems that every link for the pre-order eventually leads to a screen with the xbox logo on it - or xbox live. (even if I select the pc games option) . I want to play on PC and will likely never have an xbox or game pass. Is there a chance I could buy the wrong version. Is the xbox logo just advertising?

And here we are only a few days away. What was your reaction when you first saw it? Have to admit I thought it was not real in game footage. If you go back to threads or videos and read or watch all the speculation? It's just too funny. It's Xbox ONLY, subscription only, it's a fake video, etc... Hi all Still on the fence about purchase platform, leaning towards steam has anybody heard if Sim updates will take longer to hit steam or if there could be any 3rd party developer install issues by going the steam route, pitty this question didn't arise on the stream the other day

I'm sure many are aware of this, but Flickr is a great resource. The "Explore, Recent Photos" page features daily notable photographs from around the world, and I've started cataloging places to fly based on some of those. There are also a few aviation pics scattered among them.

Does nvidia's DLSS 2.0 improve FS2020 frame rates? Does it allow running with AA off to increase frame rates?

I switched from P3d to X-Plane with the C172 Simcoder REP addon. A2A C172 on P3d was not capable of performing stalls in a manner suitable to support my real world training. I was pleasantly surprised how well X-Plane + REP performed. I continued to train throughout the Covid lockdown with my CFI/CFII using Skype screenshare. REQUEST: Could a real world experienced C172 pilot or several put the FS2020 Beta C172 through its paces for ACS maneuvers, especially stalls (power on / power off / accelerated) and steep turns and turns around a point and slow flight? The biggest issue I see is the ATC not being optimized for simulation use. Having to request specific Ground Handling services through ATC is not realistic, but probably impossible when you have dozens of other (AI or other users) planes on the same frequency. I really hope Asobo fix that for future versions. There are other small details that I can point out, such as what seems like aircraft doors opening before the jetway connects, or vehicles getting in the way of aircraft pushing back. Does anyone know if airstairs can be called for remote stands?

What should we expect for the install. Just push a few buttons and wait for a really long time or can we start the game after a short download? What happens if the install fails? The actual install always scares me the most. Also the usual HD prep should be done I suppose. Did WIN 10 squawk for any of the alpha / beta testers? Remember - just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they are not out to get you. Cheers bs
